  • The Tamiya Clodbuster is a truck I have always wanted for the collection. Even with its flaws it is an amazing truck and worth the time and energy it takes to assemble it and care for it. If you have any questions feel free to message me on any of the social media link here.

    Gotta love the CLOD! I have had 3 of them and rebuilding one currently. I started with them when I was 15 years old. Fun truck. Timeless

    Yeah they'll always be Legends!. Problem was I couldn't afford the CLOD back in '87 , then thought about getting the Blackfoot .. but they had that problem with the diffs and axles so
    at the end I settled for the Kyosho Big Brute which I still own it today and I dont regret it! 😂

      @@SoundStream101 A Big Brute is another one I would mind adding to the collection. But my experience with Kyosho products is limited to my 2wd Outlaw Rampage TT and my Nitro Ultima ST.

    UK Monsters is a good source for aftermarket (aka production custom) clodbuster parts. I restored my 1984 year 1 clodbuster with alot of the parts from UK Monsters which address many of the cons you spoke of. Except Suspension, my suspension function is all in the tires, the oil shocks/coil are useless and for looks... lol

    The only upgrade that they've done when they made the Super Clod was the plate in the chassis, when you attach the black suspension links. The original Clod had them just bolted to the plastic with nuts on the inside of the chassis, which caused breaks.

    • @BLKLSTRC
      @BLKLSTRC  5 месяцев назад +1

      Seems like a reasonable update to the chassis then.

      Those three steel chassis reinforcement plates were added way before the Super Clod Buster came out. They originally debuted on the Bull Head in 1990 and have been included in every Clod Buster release since.

    I got one of the limited edition blue Clod Buster trucks. I have not yet built it. I do plan on installing bearings in the kit. I was wondering how durable are they? I do realize they can not jump 10 feet in the air and land hard. I have other trucks that can do that. Thoughts?

    • @BLKLSTRC
      @BLKLSTRC  5 месяцев назад +1

      I myself haven't seen any real issues durability wise. I am pretty sure in the middle of the video I mentioned they are pretty durable. I get mine up to about 25mph ish and hit small bumps and jumps with ease. Donuts are easy on 2s in dirt or sand and so far I have not had anything break on me. I am sure it could be pushed a bit harder and handle it.

      @alfredyost7972 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@BLKLSTRC I am happy to hear that. I was going to get oil filled shocks for it. So, that way when it jumps it will land planted. However, this is a monster truck and they bounce when they land. So, now I think I will stick with the friction dampers because the truck will bounce. Thoughts?

    • @BLKLSTRC
      @BLKLSTRC  5 месяцев назад

      I myself am going to replace the stock shocks with Aluminum oil filled ones but that's just what I do to just about every one of my trucks.

    • @alfredyost7972
      @alfredyost7972 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@BLKLSTRC I agree, I have replaced every car or truck shocks with aluminum shocks. I think the Clod Buster is not a high performance truck. It is supposed to bounce and look good doing that. Thoughts?
