its 2024, and I cant believe I haven't watched this documentary before!! This will be my new comfort RUclips video to watch whenever I'm in doubt of myself and the future
It's so clear that she is a lovely and accepting person. I don't care about the hate that she would get on Twitter. I know that she loves people of all types; gay, trans, black, whatever
As of recent days, as a heterosexual woman, I do understand that she has her opinion of the trans community in particular but according to her new book Troubled Blood, she's after bringing up certain parts of history that the LGBTQ Community have been trying to get us to forgive and see past for years even though the story is focused on one character and behaviour that is not acceptable by anyone gay or not which is the point of a horror story/murder mystery but still it can be close to home for most people and they are probably going to put up with more unnecessary abuse possibly from readers that may read the book out of curiosity which is their own choice but it can be psychologically messy and dangerous if it affected the wrong person
The deepness and darkness of grief is what makes these books the enduring success that they are, for it is real grief, and real sadness that permeates everything, even the moments of joy. And that is life, and even children know that.
And the grief is *real*. Even if it's on the page, even if it's in your head, it's still real. Maybe not as much as losing someone you know and love in real life, but you still feel it. The tears are as real as it can get. I cried so much for so many characters. You get to know these characters, these people and animals, and you grow to love them and you feel the pain of it when they die. She's an amazing storyteller
It makes me cry to so her so genuinely happy in some sequences of this documentary. She was sometimes so sad in the past, seeming cynical and unable to trust. She deserves this happiness so much because she gave so many of us many wonderful hours.
At the start when he asks her the questions, she clearly needs to think about some of the answers. But when he says “what’s your biggest regret?” “That I didn’t keep my mother on the phone longer the last time I spoke to her” that answer was waiting and rolled right off the tongue and it chills me. What a genuine person she is.
I never loved somone so purly this much, I do dote on her, she's my fount of inspiration. I love her personality , a genuine one. I love the way her eyes flicker with tears when she's moved. she's a true beauty to me , wish I can meet her one day.
Watching this in March, 2020, during quarantine - feeling such an anguish and lack of hope in everything. Only writing is the way I can go to scape this. And having the idea of watching this documentary again made me feel better. Emotional, as always, and very inspiring.
At the end when the interviewer asks her “how would you like to be remembered” it just occurred to me for the first time, how would I feel if she passed away..? And I almost started crying. I do not want to think about that happening for a long long time. Love this woman; both her brain and her big heart which she only lets come to the surface a few rare times.

Poverty sucks you all the happiness as one of the dementors in HP because it gives you such a big depression. I know some people can't even get back from it.
Brilliant documentary and tastefully done. Our children grew up with this lady's books and brings back very many lovely memories. Of course her haters now have grown up on the back of immature phone chat.
There’s such a strange melancholy about her that I can’t fathom. That idea that she has now completed her magnum opus and is happy to leave it behind her, knowing in her mind where her characters got to in life and not feeling like she wants to share it now must take great strength. Something I could never let go as I feel it would break me and I would be forever depressed thinking about those characters left on the last page.

So interesting that she said the character she was most interested in Albus Severus and that the play was written around him. I wish she did it without the two other writers however

I've only seen the films at this point, but I still found the story of Harry Potter to be entertaining and look forward to reading the novels in the future. I was not that big of a Harry potter fan at the time the novels and films were coming out (more of a Star Wars fan, personally), but I have come to respect Rowling more in later years and find it amazing how she was able to craft most of the story before even publishing the first novel. Speaking of Star Wars, now that I've learned more about Rowling's writing process and how she protects her work, she does remind me of George Lucas in how he was protective of his work (before Disney took over) and how he had planned out the story and fine tuned it as he went along.
I watched a documentary about her from 2001 and it's funny that the fans in that one were super tiny children and in this one they're teenagers/young adults :)

Yes, I think she has a naturally quite melancholy and pensive vibe that, I agree, reads as profound sadness sometimes. She can be really funny so seems like she can be fun and good company but yeah, there's a seeming sadness there all the same.

AMR MASKOUN really?

She's such a great writer but she seems so sad
Well she experienced a lot of sad things. Her mother was very ill when she was a teenager, she died when she was just 25, had a terrible short marriage, had to flee with her baby, struggled with depression and poverty. Those things stay with you forever.
I think she is just reserved and it comes off as sad. People from Europe tend to be more reserved (not all but it's kind of a cultural thing).
Yes, I think she has a naturally quite melancholy and pensive vibe that, I agree, reads as profound sadness sometimes. She can be really funny so seems like she can be fun and good company but yeah, there's a seeming sadness there all the same.
@@fe5018 I don't think she ever got over the death of her mother.
@@phanders6236, I don't think any one does get over that loss when you have the kind of mother and relationship with her that Rowling has described. But I don't think that's it in full.
