@Fuck You In the book, he went into it to look for clues to finding it, but not to get it. It was an easy cut to the movie to save building another set.
This is such a surreal conversation between an author and her main character come to life. Both had their lives elevated to the world stage from this literature and movie. So cool
@@MrJayArt Yes Jay. If you watch the video like everyone else, this is why her conversation with Daniel feels surreal because the line is blurred with Harry.
why would you make a movie when you can make a tv series and never have to cut anything out because of time restraint? Harry potter should of been a series but it's all about the money and getting people into cinemas.
My heart hurts for the death of Alan Rickman today. He was such a magnificent man. Thank you Alan for bringing Severus Snape to life for all of us. Prayers for your family and loved ones. A piece of my soul is missing today and it will never come back. You will be deeply missed my dear friend.
The thing that makes HP so special is that kids usually start reading the books at around the age of 10, give or take. And from that point onwards, they grow up along with the characters. I did.
I love writing so much, but when I sit here and listen to J.K. Rowling speak and remember all these characters she made from scratch and all these wonderful places she created with her mind, I don't think I could ever do that. She is truly brilliant!
Don't Let That Sway You. Keep Your Eyes Focused On What You Need To Do. Give It As Much Dedication And Love As J.k Did Then Watch Your Creation GROW. ;)
I could see how her genius could make you doubt yours but as cheesy as it sounds, believe AND act & you may be surprised to see how those dreams start coming true :)
I love the choices Dan is now making for his career. He's taking very strange roles that distances him from the dogooder thing he's known for as Harry. He's trying to push his boundaries as an actor but he fully embraces being Harry Potter he's not ashamed or embarrassed by it the way many stars from star trek or star wars have been. He knows Harry Potter was his ticket to fame and fortune. It gives him the ability now to be a serious actor.
Alcoholocaust I also saw an interview that he didn't wanna be that Celebrity who was ashamed of his past like this one musician who used to be a part of Daniels favorite band disappointed him when he asked him about his music then he said "Nah man, I don't really talk about that anymore"
Yeah, I like that he embraces his Harry Potter past! A lot of Disney stars, for example, try to put so much distance between themselves and their Disney shows, which I can never understand, because they wouldn't even be famous if they hadn't gotten the show in the first place.
When my son was in the 4th grader, he was having a problem in reading comprehension. After 4th grade that summer, I told him to start reading the Harry Potter series, and he did. From that moment, his love for reading flourishes. He loves it. Thank yo, JK Rowling. And I love the movies too. And the music, amazing.
Thats funny, watching this I literally thought "they're so natural with conversing like my aunt and I" . I love how genuinely friendly and excited they both are too talk to each other
I wish I went to Hogwarts but I was just born a dumb muggle who never got to meet Draco and start a relationship with him and have kids and help fight you-know-who
That part in particular has always stood out to me...it seem fitting that Hagrid was the one to carry Harry when he was the one who carried him out of the broke house in Godrics Hollow and the one who was his first interaction in the wizarding world.. always tear up when I read that part and get goose bumps when Harry pops up and DESTROYS moldy voldy (who said that Pottheads?)
I've heard that they had sorta decided on another actress and then Emma auditioned... and got the part. So, if true, there's a 30 year old woman who might not know how close she came to being world-famous.
I have neither read her work nor watched any of her movies. But I admire her creativity, her strength of character and above all, her intellectual honesty. And after all that, she's a lovely and graceful woman.
Finally someone gets me I wish I can just wipe my whole Harry Potter memory and only remember the fact that I loved it and. The characters names of course just so I can read and watch the films all over again and being so shocked at all the plot twists

@@zenduffett Do you mean difficult times that give rise to dark imaginations among children, or that try to protect them from their imagination? Or both? Because I have a feeling both might be the case.
She has a problem with my dad 😂 and I liked that mention it because I’ve always really felt that way, people who start giving full on facts about reality to children when children think the clouds are cotton candy, are just fcking bad people, of course they’re going to learn the reality one day, but let the children have their own fantasy world while they still can
You do want to protect your children, and as parents sometimes we get it wrong and are too over protective. No parent is perfect in this. We just try to do our best and hope it all works out.
The way Daniel Radcliffe got casted was pretty cool. It reminded me of the fiasco Harry Potter had to go through to get his acceptance letter from Hogwarts. No matter how desperately Uncle Vernon tried to separate Harry from his wizarding roots, the universe (aka Dumbledore) was adamant about Harry fulfilling his destiny. I know there's a very simple, logical explanation for why Daniel kept running into the producers (his parents had connections to them and shared similar interests, plus they probably lived in the same area), but sometimes it's just nice to believe in magic.
I finished the series last week. I'm 33, never read any of them, never saw any of the movies "because it was for kids". Damn, I missed out. What a wonderful story. It's intelligent, it teaches kids all the right values and it gets fucking emotional in the end. If I ever have a family of my own, I'll read them all out loud and do the voices. :)
Every time I come back to this video, I can't help myself from watching it all the way through without skipping a second. Such naturally flowing conservation between two brilliant people...
She is a genuine genius. To write her books she doesn’t come up with ideas, she knows the characters. She is friends with them and writes what actually happened. Her mind is a universe of its own, and that is why I love Harry Potter so much.
Npangea It’s really not just “putting down your imagination” on a paper like that. It takes serious skill and serious mindset to be able to write like she wrote Harry Potter. I don’t stand by jk Rowling or even like her due to her being transphobic, but you can’t deny her serious writing skills when doing these books.
Babygooorl Yeet yes I agree. I may strongly disagree with her beliefs but you can’t deny her talent or hold some gratitude for bringing this wonderful thing into our lives.

Can I just say that Daniel would make a really great interviewer? He knew what questions to ask to get to the substance that we want to hear about. The entire 53 minutes was such a treat
One of the doctors in work lent me her book, telling me I just had to read them. I was hooked. Thank you JK for the times your books truly helped me cope with life’s trials.
@@catguy4996 she literally said that her plan always was that hagrid will hold harrys "dead" body in the last book thats why hagrid was always safe from getting killed and why harry would never have died.
When Harry/Daniel asked if there was anything she was upset about them cutting out of the films I legit jumped up and screamed “IN THE DEATHLY HALLOWS DRACO SCREAMED “POTTAH!” AND GAVE HARRY HIS WAND TO FIGHT VOLDEMORT”
LMFAO why would she be upset abt something not being in the films when she never wrote it... on the contrary, she would’ve been upset if they just randomly decided to add something that wasn’t there to HER story
Every 30 seconds someone begins reading Harry Potter. It gives me chills remembering the first time I ever read the Sorcerers Stone, opening that book, little did I know that I was at the start of a magical adventure.
13:35 "There was always a logic to the magic." This is what I love about the Harry Potter series. I remember one scene in particular. Dumbledore and Voldemort are battling in the Ministry Atrium. Voldemort uses all the broken glass shards and sends them towards Dumbledore. Albus turns them to sand instantly and avoids being shred to pieces. I thought it was brilliant and showed almost the science behind magic. Making it seem that much more real.
true but when it started with the whole "Love is magic now too" and you can cast magic without the words just by thinking about it in the later books seemed strange as it was completely different from before. Or at least it felt to me like that
@@6666Imperator Maybe that has something to do with not only experience as a wizard and of using the spell repeatedly and understanding it, but also one's bond with your wand? IDK, just speculating.
Placebo Yes, yes, exactly. Everything has a perfectly legitimate reason behind it. It only enhances the dream of "what if..." you know? I have a huge problem with the reaction of religious people, or as JK said, protecting kids from their imagination. Our imagination is so vital to life. Without it, we would never grow, or change, or progress. Magic can't be talked about or imagined because it represents anti christian beliefs? How? They celebrate Christmas, they have the same code as any religion does. Do good, treat others well, and that love is always the answer. There is "evil" in their world just as in ours. It's perfectly wonderful for evangelicals to be a part of mass hypnosis and speak in "tongues" (they don't accept that it is hypnosis though) They claim to be filled with the holy spirit... and that's okay. A bit hypocritical, right? There's a parallel world here and it's brilliant. The same intolerance, hate and divisions, just different words. Mudblood, muggle. Who hasn't felt they've gotten a Howler, or that we all serve as a sorting hat? Or had our lives made miserable by a Moaning Myrtle? There are many things for adults to learn, possibly more than children. Life isn't fair, it doesn't owe you anything, and there's nothing of value in a participation trophy, and we will lose people and have to go forward. (in my head I hear Sinatra. That's life)
After reading the final chapter of the deathly hollows I felt the exact same thing as J.K. Rowling. The door to my escape from my otherwise then sad and tragic life closed and I felt an overwhelming amount of grief. Which has gotten better and better over the years until the point where I understood the logic and felt the excitement of the Harry Potter world again.
Daniel is such a nervous, jittery guy and it's incredibly endearing. He's so excitable that you can't help but smile at him going on and on about the stuff that interest and delight him. Bless his heart. Jo is right though. He should steer clear from caffeine.
How someone could create this unbelievable masterpiece is beyond me, and can connect billions of people with one story is incredible. We will always love the Golden Trio. I hope in future years she will write a sequel, I doubt it but I can hope
Even if she doesn't want to write a sequel, she can write some non-canon books that just take them on random adventures that isn't part of the lore. Don't have to mess with the story she created and we get more of the Trio.
I love how she gives extensive thought on the complexities of each character's circumstance. The part about the realities of war and her reason on why Lupin had to go is so profound.
Daniel Radcliffe seems like a kind of awkward person. Like someone who you wouldn't think would be a movie star. It doesn't seem like the fame ever went to his head. He just seems like he's still the same person he was growing up. He just has awkward tendencies that you can see in this interview, like that laugh.
I graduated high school the year after the last movie came out, and had been a fan of the Harry Potter books since the age of 10. I was a really avid reader throughout my childhood and adolescence, and each successive Harry Potter book and movie felt like a chapter in my life. The last movie they all were growing up and I was turning 18 soon and looking at colleges or community college and trying to find a job. Felt like I grew up with Harry, Ron and Hermione. Thank You J.K Rowling and the entire cast and crew of the Harry Potter films. 🙏🏾♥️

I love it when JK says "I have a real issue with someone keeping children from their own Imagination". That is so telling of what she has done here. The Yin/Yang symbol is exactly what she says that within the light there is always a bit of dark and within the dark, there is some light. There are absolutely not absolutes and I think that the books show that brilliantly. Well done.

This video shows two people with great respect for each other enjoying each others company. It's like both of them have forgotten this conversation is being filmed, it's so natural and honest.
Yes. I can imagine that. Child stars are usually very precocious. There are generations of American child stars who were/are capable of intelligent conversation.
Imagine sitting across from someone who became the person you always dreamed of, wrote about, thought about and watched in your imagination and then watching the movies. She seems both concerned and protective like he really is her son. And in awe at her magical creation come to life on screen.
12:25 (when they are talking about things they left out in the movies) It pissed me off that they cut out the entire part of "Order of The Phoenix" where they go and see Neville's parents.
it doesn't bother me because the movies let me put a face and a skin to the world that was birthed through those books so I can imagine that scene using their faces and it's almost as if they didn't cut it.

Placebo something that I loved was that in hogwarts they would learn how a spell works not just say these words and suddenly something happens.
true but when it started with the whole "Love is magic now too" and you can cast magic without the words just by thinking about it in the later books seemed strange as it was completely different from before. Or at least it felt to me like that
Paul Mutzel true
