I kept thinking while watching this interview “his parents must be so proud” and we’re around the same age 😅 But really, what a well spoken, humble, kind, and talented young man ❤️
@BornToTroll-it5juah, the tired old complaint that he is not transphobic. It’s more proof that he is a good human for not falling to such levels of ignorance and bigotry that Rowling believes and financially supports.
@BornToTroll-it5juShe’s the snake. Bullying trans kids who love her books is a horrible thing to do. She should give them love and support but she has nothing but hate.
I remember seeing How to Succeed on broadway and was a huge Harry Potter fan. He comes down center stage (he was suspended in the air because he was a window washer) and everyone applauded and was cheering for him. I remember thinking- omg this is harry potter how cool!? And then he opened his mouth and began singing and the play started and I completely forgot that. He was his character on stage. I didn't even think of HP the rest of the play. He was so fantastic.
Excellent interview. I saw him back when he made his Broadway debut in Equus and then recently in Merrily We Roll Along -- his fifth Broadway show. He has grown so wonderfully as an actor, and fully deserves the Tony nomination for Merrily, as do his co-stars Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez.
Can't help but feel his Tony win was a belated honor for his incredible turn as Finch in How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Hard to top that show.
When someone has the level of success that Daniel has had, there is always the threat of succumbing to ego. This interview has demonstrated his thoughtfulness, his passion for the theatre and how he embraces even the role of being a dad. This was the first in-depth thing I'd seen Daniel do, and tons of credit to Anthony Mason for doing his homework and making the interview so conversational. This was enjoyable to watch. Thank you.
I love his attitude and honesty. This was a very enjoyable interview and such a feel good interview. I saw the Tony Awards tonight and a big congratulations goes to Daniel, cast and crew. Blessings…
I say this every time: This…Is…My…DUDE!❤ He was amazing in Merrilly! Saw five shows including the final performance- it was amazing, the audience love was enormous! He, Jonathan and Lindsey were so endearing! Can’t wait to see what Dan does next!
I only wish him the best and I hope that he gets even bigger than he is now. I don’t want people to keep saying “that the dude that plays Harry Potter”… I hope some day that people truly appreciate him and his acting more and HOPEFULLY one day people can say, “that’s Daniel Radcliffe” 😭💜
I really do feel sorry for him, from the bottom of my heart. At this point, he's obviously getting sick and tired of the worldwide stardom he received since 23 years ago for a film franchise he played a major part of. I'm just glad Daniel is doing other films outside of the Harry Potter franchise, which is amazing to see. I simply see Daniel Radcliffe as Daniel Radcliffe, not just Harry Potter.
His parents and the production team on the HP franchise did so much right by Daniel, and it shows. He's constantly trying to do different things and succeeding! Never thought he'd turn out to be a triple threat on the Great White Way, but he has. As a theatre kid growing up in the NY metro area, I'd been exposed to the soundtrack of Merrily after it closed and it captivated me without seeing the show. Sondheim cast albums were treasure troves of wonderfully written songs. (My radio blooper reel back in 1984/5 had me upselling 'Old Friends' from Merrily We Roll Around on my ShowTunes show at the college radio station...)
Daniel is only a year older than I am, almost to the month, but I’m so glad and so proud to have grown up with him with HP. He’s such a talented, humble person 🌸 Good luck! I hope you win!
Interesting. Might be related to the fact that he starred the Harry Potter series as a kid - so no matter what age you are, you could look at your screen and see him as a kid. So he is still a kid in some sense to us. And then even if we saw him last year as a kid, then today in this interview, we can feel pride at his growing up.
If there are any non-musical DR fans watching this video…you’re seriously missing out on the next-level talent this man has. Go watch his performances, now!
Saw him in Merrily in February. I was so surprised how good he was with physical comedy and singing and acting. All of it in a way you can’t fake since it’s live on stage.
Wonderful interview. I've always thought of all artists as a part of a family. It's a community and who wouldn't want to belong to a community? I tend to believe that the main differences are cameras. If a mistake is made someone can edit that mistake out when it's on film. Performing live makes the ability to edit simply impossible. Yet really any mistakes, etc. only add to the beauty of live theatre. I haven't been a part of theatre in years but I have heard that once a theatre nerd, always a theatre nerd. I'm sure that certain people will always have certain fans. Still, theatre probably gives a place to be yourself and know that it's ok. 😺🎭🎨🎼💃🕺
Love Dan! Great talent and so versatile! Movie, TV, Stage (straight plays and musicals) he can do it all. Also the chemistry between him and his costars in Merrily is unmatched! Congratulations Dan!!
It is just amazing to see where he has taken his career. I never suspected while going to see the Potter films that I would see him singing and dancing on Broadway. (I saw "How To Succeed..." He is also just so cool and grounded but still retains a playful kind of attitude.
I love Daniel Radcliffe. Love Harry Potter. Love all of his movies except for Woman In Black. But not because of him. Because of the movie itself. He's a great actor. He's so talented. He should've won awards by now. Hopefully this is just the beginning. He's THEE most underrated actor. Because he's brilliant and so incredibly talented. I'm so happy for him.
*Being instantly and enormously likable has always been Daniel's superpower: Poised, candid, self-effacing and always pushing the personal bounds of his craft. Even more amazing is how all of the star "Potter Kids" have grown up to have fulfilling lives and careers. (By contrast, American child actors of comparable fame usually self-destruct in the most public and horrible ways imaginable.)*
2007 me and my newly wed husband and a friend of ours went to London for a trip. The night of the play we picked Equus over I think Wicked and got 8th row seats. Didn't even know he was in it. Had no clue what the play was about. Boy was that shocking, but wow his performance was amazing. ❤
It just hit me while watching this... If Marvel recasts Wolverine with a younger actor for the MCU reboot, Daniel Radcliffe would be the obvious choice.

If you are a 90's kid : I cannot seem to shake off the Vibe that he just constantly reminding me of Robin Williams in a way. It's interesting but it's just the same vibe! If you seen a lot of movies and interviews with them both you know what i'm talking about.
does this guy not know that actors are literally supposed to memorize lines for movies? I mean, really? Daniel replied, "Well I would hope so..." in response to "it seemed like you had those lines memorized" (referring to Harry Potter). RIGHT....UM.....that is what actors do....
Around 7:04 he asks a really interesting question. All in all, this interview is great even though there is a that sloppy line about lines being memorized lol
This poor many just trying to live his life and did so well that he doesn't have to always be associated with Harry Potter only to be known as the man that didn't let his Harry Potter role define him....
Oh my Goodness. He has lost all his boyishness & evolved into a very handsome young man! All grown up! Not to imply ANYTHING negative about anything "Daniel". He just looks " older" now...
I admire Daniel so much. He is so well-spoken, humble, thoughtful. I can’t wait for him to win the Tony!
Yes!!! 😊☺️😊He’s grown into such a fine, beautiful guy inside and out it seems with a lovely dash of charm even!!👏🏽♥️👏🏽
he won!!!!
I love Daniel. I'm glad he has transitioned to Broadway. He's amazing.
He did!!!! ❤️
Which he did win! Yay!
I kept thinking while watching this interview “his parents must be so proud” and we’re around the same age 😅 But really, what a well spoken, humble, kind, and talented young man ❤️
Talented. Humble. A wonderful human. Thanks for the interview
Daniel is just a good human. His parents did well.
I agree.

To say that I love and adore Daniel Radcliffe is an understatement. He is an absolute treasure and must be protected at all costs. ❤

I really appreciate a good interviewer. He let Daniel speak, and brought out good points.
It is so amazing what he has done. Probably the most famous child Star ever, and now this! He could have easily faded away.
Michael Jackson was the most famous child Star ever

Great actor! Beautiful Artist! Loved his role at "Escape from Pretoria"!
Daniel is incredibly talented man. Wonderful actor. As much as I love Potter seeing Daniel in other movies just blew me away. I highly respect him.
I would love to see Daniel and Erin do a Broadway musical in the future and maybe some more movies and tv shows too
Such a genuine interview, congratulations to Daniel for winning the Tony 🎉

This production of Merrily is amazing. Daniel, Jonathan and Lindsay are magic. If I could get back to NY to se it again I would in a minute.

Love his Weird Al movie, Guns Akimbo, and the one with the Horns. Totally hilarious movies. Glad to see he's not taking things too seriously also.
Dans the man..he's such a chill dude.
He has put so much thought into his post Potter career. So a good guy!
He’s a very impressive man! Bravo 👏
He is very likeable when he interviews and worked hard to be a very different actor.
I'd like to see him play Willie Lowman in Death of a Salesmen or Tom in The Glass Menagerie. Maybe when he's a bit older.
So commendable that he didn't allow Hollywood to box him in as just Harry Potter 👏🏾
Daniel was such a cute kid all those years ago.
Who could ever forget that young trio: Hermione, Ron and Harry?
WHAT AN AMAZING INTERVIEW & SO HAPPY FOR HIM AND HIS TONY WIN!
