@bulsky and @cee_hay_mcc7914, you are talking about notes, rhythms, tempo, and tonality. @epicmage82 is talking about the message, the safe space, the topics that weren't dare talked about in most mainstream. That's the importance they don't often get credit for, not just generating a new genre and sound while they were at it.

    • @EnervatedSociety
      @EnervatedSociety Год назад

@@musicman1086 There's always been people/artist/musicians/film makers. ect talking about/sending these messages. These are not original themes/subject matter by far. They're as old as humans. The music genre on the other hand was a first of it's kind.
Also, how is a mainstream artist (at the time) a "safe space", that's better left for your therapist/friends/family imo.

The feelings towards this song are very similar, if not identical, to how people felt about Fade To Black by Metallica when it came out in 1984. That feeling that you're not alone, that someone understands, is powerful. Both songs gave people, a lot of them kids, the language to use to make sense of what they were feeling. That's important.

Il never forget it, being betrayed so deep and living with the guilt and shame eventhough I know I did not deserve any of it. The anger, the frustration, the memories and most of all hard hatred will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Korn’s music and Johnathan Davis’ words were the reason I didn’t put a bullet through my own skull 25 years ago. They made me feel like I wasn’t alone and that I could get through the abuse, the bullying, the SA. DnD helped me get out of own head and to focus on the stuff that wasn’t all that other bs and darkness echoing around in my head. I am happy now and have moved past it all (mostly) and did get through it. KoRN and Davis will forever have me as a fan and I will never be able to pay them back for getting me through some very dark times and being the very flawed heroes that I needed whenever I needed them.

First off I just wanna say great reaction video. I’m really glad to see you kinda picked up on the deeper meaning and didn’t just hear it for what it is musically and it go deeper than that. You mentioned the beginning of the video reminding you of Freak On A Leash, that’s because the end of that video connects to the beginning of this video. If you remember in that video you made a comment about how the the little girl gave that bullet back to the guy. This video pretty much just picks up from right there where that one left off.
I know you’re much more likely to do songs that are in high demand rather than one-off requests, but given Korn’s music deals with a lot of childhood trauma, they have a song that I think is objectively worse than Daddy that I would be interested seeing you react to, especially because it goes way under the radar for a song coming from their most successful album and it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves so it’s almost like the song’s efforts are sort of in vain. It’s a song called Pretty, and it has sort of a specific and unique “experience”, which is; people hear the song, and, it’s sounds unlike Daddy, it comes off pretty standard and straight forward on the surface. Hearing it, you might pick up on a few of the lyrics, and they might sound a little intense, but you don’t really know what they mean so it’s relatively easy to get through. It’s when you look up the meaning afterwards and realize how horrific the meaning of the song you just heard was. And I think that’s the most sensible way to hear it, listen first and look up the meaning after. I’ve people who have been fans of that song for years discover the meaning right there in the comments section and become horrified. Again I know it’s unlikely you’d do a one-off request of a song that’s a little more obscure but pitching the idea was worth a shot. If not then maybe on Metal Mondays. I’m silentwarriorsebastian on Twitch and I watch most of your streams when you go live.

The vocalist's story is the epitomy of sorrow. There's a song, I forget its name, where's he's just crying on it. Just him crying as the song is about his childhood and they left it recording. Fuck, so harrowing to listen to.
Also, you're such a sweet reactor. Always a pleasure, never a chore ❤️

This song, and the video for it, probably summarises Korn's cultural importance the best imo...in the 90's-2000's, they were such a massively cathartic voice and saviour for sooooooo many people who were going through shit, the abused, the outcasts, the weird kids, the queers...back then there was essentially no recognition whatsoever of mental health issues, just "suck it up, stop being a pussy, get on with it"...but then there was Korn, they knew how you felt, and they'd always be there to scream and rock it out with you, and give you the strength to keep going.

I have always had Reaction Videos as one of my guilty pleasures on RUclips so when I say this I can say it with a very strong foundation. You genuinely are one of my absolute favorites. The production quality is always fantastic, the quality of the video youre reacting to is also always fantastic (a lot of reactors make it either too transparent or put some kind of watermark in the middle of it to try and prevent copyright claims), when you pause its to offer very good commentary without being excessive, and most importantly out what may be the biggest draw for me... you are extremely genuine in your reactions and it shows. I think people enjoy watching reaction videos of music because we love the feeling of seeing someone else be introduced to music we have known and loved for most of our lives so seeing how much youre moved by songs like this hits that note perfectly. Keep up the great work. Cant wait for more.
Not normally the type to recommend music for someone's channel but recently Nita Strauss just dropped a video with Alissa White-Gluz called "The Wolf You Feed" which is based off the old Cherokee story "The Tale of Two Wolves" (definitely check out the story if you dont know it before listening to the song) so if you would like to react or at least just check it out on your own feel free to. Nita is a lovely woman who is one of the most talented guitarists alive today and Alissa is another example of why Metal just hits differently in all the best ways with a woman that has powerful vocal range at the front.

KoRn was my refuge from 7th grade until graduation. It is amazingly refreshing to see generations of people still being touched and moved by this music, decades later. The pain and trauma that so many of us endured is unacceptable, but also can not be undone. However, through publicization like this, we have a place to unite, just like the kids in the street.
To anyone that is reading this, and feeling the depth of the song, know that life does get better. Things change, and there are still struggles... but the pain you feel right now, does go away.

This is the song that made history in nu metal! It's about the ugly truth of this life we live in, and Jonathan was a part of it! He had a very rough and violent moments in his life, but he was strong, many times he had suicidal thoughts! But he realized that life is priceless and he had to move on and stay strong even today after his wife's death!

This song means a lot to me in a different perspective to what it truly is, so when I opened my eyes during my not so violent headbanging bits and saw you tearing up, I couldn't help but join you in sharing the tears.
So I hope that you're OK and I recommend that if you feel the need to headbang uncontrollably, do it. Not a single one of your commenters are going to blame you for it and we would be accepting of you doing it.
If you did want to listen to "Did My Time" by Korn, the video is about being bullied and having enough of being the outcast. Something that resonates with every single one of us that loves Korn

Korn was one of my favorites growing up. I remember hearing them for the first time during my junior year in High School. My friend Aaron had their tape and let me listen to it for the first time. So heavy and amazing. That whole first album is amazing. Such raw emotion and angst and musical amazement. The song "Daddy" kind of explains what he went through in his childhood. This song is light compared to that one. That song makes my soul weep. "Fake" is another good song that leads into that one. Korn's earlier stuff was mind-blowing. They are still in my top 10 favorites.
