2000 or 2001, a friend girl of mine that new the manager of POD, took me to meet them as a suprise. We had dinner with them, at their hotel and then back stage passes at Life Fest, Oshkosh, WI. I got to see P.O.D. last year and let me tell you, I got whole body chills when 15,000 people helped chant out the chorus at the same time. Another great reaction Aileen. Keep it up.
I came to see your reaction to this song and band that i listened to a lot when i was in high school, 2000 to 2004. Im now 39. I didnt expect to tear up. 😢
Yeah, that song was a huge radio hit for the band in 2001. IIRC, P.O.D. are from San Diego. I actually saw them live in 2022, as they were one of the opening acts for Jinjer. Tatiana is married to Alex Lopez, their touring drummer(2022-2024, per Wikipedia). When I saw them play this song, one of the other band members switched to drums so they'd have 2 drummers for this song.
Dear Aileen you are a wonderful person and woman with a great heart, and for your words that you said mean much and is why not forget them, is the song says it too, from the themes that she has faced by violence, depression, to the events of Santana high school in 2001. We must be the hope of this world ❤
This song was actually released in 2001. I heard it a lot when I was in middle school. The second verse about little Susie described my last gf almost to a tee. She passed away in July from a seizure that led to a stroke, but for 30 years, she kept going through a lot of traumatic events that were trying to destroy her. She persevered through so much that happened to her when she was a kid. I wanted to be the foundation she could stand on to support her on her path to healing. We were so happy the entire time we were together. I knew I wanted to be with her forever. When she passed away, she took a big piece of my soul with her. It has been so hard for me to stay balanced since then. I am trying to avoid collapsing under the weight of her loss. She meant the world to me.
I can say, embrace the pain. Don’t run from it or try and block it out because it will come with every memory of your lost one and too many people rob themselves of the memories to where they lose them.
@@Akihito007 Absolutely. I'm trying my best cherish the memories I had with her. It's overwhelming sometimes, but to try and block it out would hurt even worse. Thank you for the words of encouragement. Much love. \m/

Thank you for getting to POD, I love this band, Sonny's voice really accentuates the passion and emotion of the lyrics in their music as a band they blur the lines between so many genre's. If at some stage you would like to re visit them I highly recommend "roots in stereo" which touches on more dub/reggae roots, "higher" is a classic or "goodbye for now" which has a fun little cameo from a young Katy Perry. Either way am always excited to take this musical journey with you
P.O.D. is on of my TOP 3 favorite bands ever! I hope you check out more of their videos, great lyrics and positive messages, and they can throw down just as easily or drop the dopest reggae jam ever! Should check out Boom, or South Town, or anything of theirs. Great reaction video!
This song was such a hit in the beginning of the 2000. Great composition and deep lyrics. Any kid in their teenage or young adult life felt related in a way or another with the song. Still does today, and I always get those flashbacks of my youth (I'm 38 now, but I was 15 at that time I listened for the first time and even saw the official video release on MTV. After all the years, it never loose its spark).
I had no idea I would be on this channel listening to you. I had no idea that you even existed. I was listening to RATM and you popped up in the feed. I’m a bit blown away. You are a beautiful and special soul. Your words after “ Killing in the Name” of and “Down Rodeo” left me somewhat speechless. Your passion and obvious love of all things music is contagious. I can tell you have an audience and group that shares your love. I’m an old Metal Head… lover of all things music. Man, you bring a vibe that is so unique. I feel like the people who are just finding Rage Against The Machine even Exists after 30 years. How could I not know that you and this channel and group existed ??? God Bless you all. I will be back…..
This song is beautiful. Its message is deep and sound is perfect. So much emotion comes up when this song comes on. This was a staple in my life during my teen years. I’m 40 now and still feel like I’m back in high school when I hear this.
I watch the freaky movie muhuland Drive and on the way home from that crazy movie, I heard this crazy song on the way home. They were forever be connected. What a great song !that
P.O.D. was literally the anthem of my childhood so it was cool to see you react to this, and you have such an empathetic heart that I could imagine someone better to have viewed this. We love you Senpai
Hi Aileen 😊 This reaction of yours proves time and time again that you know the exact tone in order to use to explain how this impacts you and hopefully passes that information on to others. You're wonderful message always resonates..."you never know what anyone else is going through" The late 1990s were awful for school shootings... Paducah Kentucky (1997), Jonestown Arkansas (1998), Columbine Colorado (1999) and yet let's not limit it to this... It was becoming a societal problem that unfortunately is still around today. Why? Because everyone wants to blame everybody else instead of trying to fix the problem. I like the phrase... "If not me, then who". I wake up every morning and the first thing I do is thank the Lord for this day and the next thing I ask Him for the energy and strength to do His Will. His answer to me is to do unto others as you would like them to do unto you. At the end of the day I cannot tell you how many times I say, "Have a great day". As you say so terrifically that just a few words can make someone's day and change the trajectory of their day. I have read the comments and there is so much love for you. P.O.D. tells of three tales that represents thousands. This song struck a chord when first released and continues to do so today. As you say so poignantly that the kindness and the effort to do so and think of others is what is needed. You repeat your special words, "take care of yourself...take care of each other" that you say at the end of every reaction that are not just words...they come from your heart and that is why you are so loved. It does just take a little effort each day to think of others. There's a song by the late Harry Chapin entitled "I Wonder What Would Happen to This World" and I will drop the link and his lyrics in Patreon. Have a great day you and Arya with much love 😊👍💪❤️
Now that you got a taste of POD check out their new song Afraid to Die with Tatiana from Jinjer basically youth of the nation 2.0 amazing stuff as well. they are from mt area of SD, my 3 favorite songs by them are "southtown" "teachers" and "wildfire” but they have so many good songs and songs that make me cry because sonny lost his mom and sings about it, i lost my moms when i was 17 so i super relate. Sonnys sister used to live next to my best friends place were we used to practice our music in. My friends garage, sonny actually came by one day and listened to us play it was so cool, this was like 10 years ago when i was 23. Also been to one birthday party that they were at. hometown legends.
Appreciate you "getting" music of this time! Love your reviews. I was a freshman in college when this dropped... let alot of express our anger and sadness for what was happening and still til today.
Wow. This was definitely a big hit back then. A lot of great songs came out with these kinds of themes around this time. I think _Everlast - What It's Like_ used to air around the same time period, but my mind's hazy on that lol.
My first concert I ever went to was a tour that including Story of the year opening then followed by POD then Hoobastank and closed by Linkin Park on March 2nd 2004 in Greensboro NC
Great song, POD has another big hit called "Boom". But it was so damn popular I can almost guarantee you've heard parts of it before. It was picked up in tons of movies, commercials, etc.
When you started talk about that we never know what other people goes through it reminded me about ''lewis capaldi - before you go'' that talks about that subject and it would be nice if you would react on that song specially if you haven't heard it before.
Thank you for appreciation of the lyrics. People dont listen to messages and thinking of it as a *good melody and makes me dance*... This song makes me really... Down.. But its good to express your feelings like that. Kids need to be heard. Not just seen.
Saw them at the Pima County Fair a few years back. Full body chills being in the audience when we were all chanting "we are, we are the youth of the nation". Talk about electric

Either way am always excited to take this musical journey with you
I forgot about them, They had another banger of a tune, "Alive"
This song is absolutly amazing sonny voice is so freaking great !!! Super memories brings to me 😊😊😊 makes me happy
Anything POD was huge back in the early 2000s. Man these songs are still great!
SOUTHTOWN is my favorite song the message and also the blast beat......
P.O.D. is on of my TOP 3 favorite bands ever!
I've been a fan of the band since 2001. This was the first P.O.D. song I heard, loved their music and message ever since.
I remember when I first heard this song I broke out into tears. One of my favorite songs.
This song is beautiful. Its message is deep and sound is perfect. So much emotion comes up when this song comes on. This was a staple in my life during my teen years. I’m 40 now and still feel like I’m back in high school when I hear this.
Roots in Stereo is a great song as is Strength of my Life, Alive, Satellite and South Town
I was a boy when this came out 7 I'm 29 years old now and this is still going on.. till this day
Hi Aileen 😊 This reaction of yours proves time and time again that you know the exact tone in order to use to explain how this impacts you and hopefully passes that information on to others.
There's an amazing song,
Dan la sac vs Scroobius pip Angles. Perfectly describes your feelings.
Now that you got a taste of POD check out their new song Afraid to Die with Tatiana from Jinjer basically youth of the nation 2.0 amazing stuff as well. I remember going to middle school listening to this song on the radio back in the day. I still have this cd album amazing brothers. Music is powerful stuff as always great break down Aileen!
There are some some that stick out more than others like this and Empty walls by Serj that just hit different no matter whay time period we are in.
Always love this rap rock song. The meaning is we need to love and accept all in this world and not to look down on someone. Love can be the cure. Love your in depth analysis of the lyrics. ✊✌🖤
Ive talk to this guys they are cool as fuck . They still live in their old house in Imperial Beach san diego. They are so proud of their mexican heritage and religion . They are really down to earth even with all the fame they got in the late 90s early 2000s .
I remember how lit this song was back when it released. I heard it on radios all across town and the state. I wish this song reached people today as it applies to them as much as we were when it first came out.
We all stand on the shoulders pf everyone else, and those of all who came before us.
We all have every reason to be good to our fellow Earthlings, for we all collectively create this society.

A hard pill to swallow, this song hits me hard. 😢
POD: SOUTH TOWN, is a little lighter.
AUDIOSLAVE: COCHISE
SOUNDGARDEN: OUTSHINE, when you get a chance.
You’re awesome 😎
Keep it up 👍
they are from mt area of SD, my 3 favorite songs by them are "southtown" "teachers" and "wildfire” but they have so many good songs and songs that make me cry because sonny lost his mom and sings about it, i lost my moms when i was 17 so i super relate.
It was picked up in tons of movies, commercials, etc.
one of the only songs that gives me chills and video is amazing too
When you started talk about that we never know what other people goes through it reminded me about ''lewis capaldi - before you go'' that talks about that subject and it would be nice if you would react on that song specially if you haven't heard it before.
Goodbye For Now is great song by them.
Thank you for appreciation of the lyrics. People dont listen to messages and thinking of it as a *good melody and makes me dance*...
This song makes me really... Down.. But its good to express your feelings like that. Kids need to be heard. Not just seen.
Takes me back to my skating days when the THPS sound track was on heavy repeat
Saw them at the Pima County Fair a few years back. Full body chills being in the audience when we were all chanting "we are, we are the youth of the nation". Talk about electric
