    i definitely like my shaman better than my pm2, it's just the real deal for hard use situations, the pm2 has a too weak tip for what the knife is meant for.
    my fav. is the southard flipper, that thing just melts in my hand, has a fantastic steel and a very good fit'n'finish.
    my list is:
    -southard flipper (looks, action, fit'n'finish, blade)
    -chaparral sun & moon (perfect slicer👌)
    -shaman (tough knife but not overbuilt, and still capable of precise cutting tasks)
    -slysz bowie (gorgeous piece, still sad i sold mine😂)
    -breeden rescue (weird but super cool blade)

    The CruWear PM2 is gorgeous. The design is great, but CruWear is such a nice steel to use - easy to keep sharp - stropping restores the edge most of the time, and although it doesn't hold it's edge as well as Maxamet, it's a lot more robust. My Maxamet PM2 chipped after essentially no use. I it was dropped on my desk while Spydie flicking to loosen up the pivot and it chippeda.
    The CruWear is a really nice balance IMO and has become my go to EDC.

      @@PM-mr8ky I like the frn manix with out a doubt especially for carrying and using for a edc. But my manix 2 G10 is definately a nicer feel in hand in my opinion especially being heavier and feeling more high end. I know its weird but mostly all my knives I dont use I just keep them in the boxes and enjoy looking at them every so often and playing with them with compression lock and so on. To me most higher end knives are just to pretty and nice to use especially when your spending 200 to 700 dollars for them. So I carry a Spyderco Tenascious or another descent cheaper knife for when I need a knife for any kind of cutting task. But I carry my SPYDERCO YOJIMBO every day for self protection every single day no matter what and there's been times I used it for minor cutting task but try not to because I like keeping it razor sharp just in case.

    • @ScottSmith-lx5xb
      @ScottSmith-lx5xb 2 года назад

      Difference is the Para 2 is not quite big enough for a main edc and #3 is even smaller a mini all too expensive. Start with a new Cold Steel Recon 1 for a hundred. Triad lock, excellent ergos scales
      a minimum 4" blade length & choose clip, spear, tanto. The Spiderco military is one version maybe worth the ($240)? price as a do everything edc

    • @mendoafgoo420
      @mendoafgoo420 2 года назад +1

      The difference is one is more pocket friendly this dude wants fixed blade lengths on a folder lol. Most places you can’t even have blades that long. The para 3 is more pocket friendly and disappears in the pocket like a Bugout would and the pm2 is a little longer. Pm2 has a blade length over 3 inches and the para 3 has a blade length under 3 inches so depending local laws or needs one could be a better choice than the other. Personally I love both. The action on both is very similar with the pm2 having more heft in the hand. The para 3 is like a grab and go knife like a Bugout or something along those lines. Personally I don’t like the FRN on the lightweights but if that’s your thing they have those as well. Spyderco is superior to cold steel in every way. You get these old timers in love with a fix blade size and style knife so their suggestions are a bit dated and not what’s actually carried by workers or first responders etc. take that comment with a grain of salt @cold2d

    The PM2 is great, however it's an absolute MISSION to sharpen...

      I feel that way about most of the modern super steels, but they are worth the extra time in my opinion!

    I haven't found more than one Spiderco to spend my money on since early 1980s. $50 got me a 1982 Police model with a blade over 4 inches and black g-10 handle scales. Nothing in last 40 years has perked any interest for other Spiderco products

      The police is nice but way to long. The shaman, the pm2, manix (non lightweight) smock, para 3, lil native with the compression lock, all solid options.

      @@mendoafgoo420 there is no knife laws where I live. I carry 2 automatic Benchmades a Buck 119 fixed blade and sometimes edc a Cold Steel Espada XL with no problem. No laws here to prevent carrying what ever I want. I use my Buck 110 folder to cut through the rib cage of the white tail deer I've shot in season.

      Same here. I bought mine Spiderco Police model with the aluminium scales in the late 80's, had it sent over to the UK by special order from a Knife shop. I was surprised they still selling them, only difference now is there are more holes for the moving around the pocket clip, which must says how popular they are. It still sharp as hell. 😄

    Hot take, PM2 is overrated and dated... Still a good choice but the Manix 2 and Shaman are far superior imo, and if you're dead set on the silhouette/design of the PM2 then just get a PM3, its a better form factor.
