    Good to see Aaron back. Would love to see more Zach and Greg. Don't forget that you are the heart and soul of THP. It's not simply that we watch just anyone hunting public lands. I can't stress how important that you recognize that we watch it for you three original guys. Greg, I know you're busy editing videos, but w/o you anchoring this show (hosting), the dynamics of the show is changed.
    Just listening to Aaron narrate this scene is why we watch. Greg, your presence is missed.

    I made a comment a few weeks ago that the THP team convinced me to buy a ghillie suit. I wore it for the first time last Thursday 10/24 morning and got a 195 lbs 8-point. I also got a 168 lbs 7-point on Friday morning, both with my recurve. Despite having many years and many bucks under my belt, I added two things to my game that got me those two bucks. I was willing to sit in too small of a tree in the right spot after watching the Hunting Beast (Dan Infalt) and compensate with the ghillie suit (per the THP Team). I saw the 8-point heading away about 80 yards or more, grunted him into my spot, he looked right at me twice and could not make out a form, turned to leave and I shot him at about 15 or 16 yards. You guys and Dan taught an old dog a couple of new tricks that paid off big-time. Thanks! BTW - I added a camo spandex arm sleeve that I bought off Amazon for under $10 to my bow arm to make shooting easy with the ghillie suit which I bought from Walmart for $48. Just because I have a Blackwidow recurve, doesn't mean I'm not frugal. But the real point is that everyone, new to seasoned hunters, can pick up little game changers watching THP and the Beast!

    Man! Dadgum, if you guys would just practice some common scents! Scent Latch 3000 coveralls, wizbang snozone bubble machine to capture your scent in microbubbles that float away like a dream, and some killer vaniller cover scent makes you smell exactly like a vaniller bean bush that so commonly grow throughout the midwest. Once you get all that down to a system it’s not bad and all you have to lose is time and money! Don’t forget to you need TWO scent smasher bags, one to keep your 2nd scent smasher bag in, then when you get to your spot at the river bank you pull the inside bag out, put the outside bag in and your kayaks in as well! One last thing, make sure you tell us how awesome all that bullshit is at least 15 times in each video! You’ll get there one day fellas!

As aways the THP crew makes ya laugh , the re-enacting of the class 5 rapids was hilarious “ stay on my tail “ I replayed it a few times. So thanks for that and the solid videos as always. Hopefully I’m able to find my buck Tomorrow. Keep grinding THP, you’ll connect soon enough.

    When I was a kid and first teaching myself how to hunt, I didn't know anything. Didn't even have money for a stand. Well a rain storm was coming in and I thought I'd be all sneaky and bought myself a pvc rain set that morning to be out in it for the afternoon hunt. Sitting on the ground with my old bear bow, with may back against a tree, rain dripping in my eyes sure as anything didnt a GIANT mature buck come bounding into the woods at 40 and closing. What happened next I can picture as vividly as if it happened yesterday. That buck caught a whiff of that pvc and did something Ive never seen a deer do since. The best i can say is he crouched down with his belly flat on the ground. Legs all ready to spring like a jumping spider, and he stayed like that MOTIONLESS just licking his nose. Trying to clear the rain and figure out what that insanely nasty strong smell was and where it was coming from. It seemed he stayed that way, like a statue, for an eternity (although im sure it was less than 20 seconds) and then he literally sprang away in one bound, never to be seen again. I learned a lot that afternoon.

    That was a huge buck! He definitely was wind checking yall, but he was looking for that buck calling. He was really mature, and I could tell that wasn’t his first rodeo! He was looking for that buck and sniffing him out. He never got any sign that a buck was there, or a doe for that matter. And when he concluded there wasn’t enough sign to validate the sounds, he took off. That’s when he knew that it wasn’t a good situation. My theory is, if the calling sequence had included a few can estrus bleats, maybe he would have investigated further. Those bigger bucks usually are hard pressed to pass up a potential doe in heat. But that’s my guess lol What an awesome hunt guys! Great stuff!

    A lot of people do not know this but a Buck like that knows fresh Scent from even hours old scent meaning they will come in downwind of your set just hours after you leave and right in on it! I left a Stand one Morning at 10 am and I left plenty scent at the bottom of that stand. One thing I had dropped that was full of scent. When I returned that afternoon at 3:30, a huge Buck was bedded at the bottom of MY Tree right on top of something I left! I could not shoot him as my Muzzle loader was IN the Tree!!!! I had left it as I knew it was safe and I would be back that afternoon. I have seen things such as this many times.

    Awesome hunt. Two words. Activated Carbon. Also change into clean bagged clothes at the trail head your set up and hunting game is so in depth for you to be wearing the same hat you wore all day. Same hoodie All tho a good one wearing one myself. Just don’t wear it in the woods after I wore it all day. Get them to close in that extra 10 yards you need to get an arrow thru them.

      J E He smelled the kayaks and/or ground scent....what’s activated carbon gonna do for that?

    • @JE-tz4sh
      @JE-tz4sh 4 года назад +1

      Wouldn’t have to worry about ground scent if your scent was controlled. Kayaks could have been washed with scent away. Or hidden down stream from the hunting area. Never can be too careful with public land mature bucks. These guys have their whole set up nailed down to a science. But wear the same boots same clothes same hats they wore into a gas station 20 minutes earlier .... just friendly advice. Nothing negative

    Go back in mid day and set up the decoy. He was nose to the ground. He was looking for a doe not another buck. That might have frustrated him enough to overlook the new smell to check out the new buck on his scrape. I bet he uses the same creek crossing daily. The sign was fresh but that crossing looked historical.

    4 more sleeps to rifle opener here. Been a long year waiting. Time to buy a bow so I don't have to wait so long until next season

      best decision youll ever make. dont expect to get it done on opening day of bow season tho. it takes time and effort to bow hunt, nothing is more rewarding tho.

    Substantial animal! Keep up the good work guys! Next year the challenge needs to be in northern MN right up by the border, quite the abundance of public land for y'all, and a chance at some more substantial animals.

    3 days into my bow season yet to see a deer at least i can watch you guys see deer. The body of that deer was more impressive than the rack. Just seeing that buck is awesome.

    Hey guys I really enjoyed the video mainly because the Instagram post didn’t show a dead buck so I had no idea if he was gonna get a shot or not! I think when y’all do shoot a buck post something similar to y'alls last one on Instagram. I think it might make the videos more exciting not knowing if y’all get a kill or not👍🏻 Just a suggestion love you guys and what y’all do!!!
