    Such a beautiful snow. The kids sledding segment really made me smile.
    My favorite aspect of your channel continues to be the wonderful working relationship and teamwork you guys have grown into over time. Natalie just continues to amaze me. I think she could get a job on most any construction crew 😄. How she juggles being a mom of 4, a wife and keeper of the home, as well the best construction assistant a husband could ask for is indeed awesome. And Jake has aquired such a patience, respectful, encouraging leadership for the whole family. You all are setting a wonderful example. Well done 🥰👍!!
    Take care!! Blessings!! ♥️

    Can you do a gas vs electric review on the chainsaws? I noticed that you never use the electric one anymore!! Or maybe that is your review 🤣

    • @aboulderlifeoffgrid
      @aboulderlifeoffgrid  8 месяцев назад +1

      I mostly like to use the electric one when I'm using the sawmill because I need to cut random pieces here and there, and it's nice not having to start a gas one over and over for that. Thanks 🙂

    Tooo late, to warn you - you forgot to install the earthing system at your reinforcement and connetions to inside and to outside of the concrete walls. You need this => outside to connect an earthing ring in the ground and connection to the reinforcement and the whole electric system. Whithout such an earthingsystem, your RCDs will never work as wanted.
    ??? As an electrician, you should know this ???

    Looks like you got more snow than I did. Cleaning off the solar panels has been quick and easy so far this year.... and of the five winters I've been living in the mountains this year has brought the most rain and least snow.

    I have been planning to do what your doing for 3 years .. I want to use 2×12 boards and pour 11.1/4 inch at a time on a 10 foot by 10 foot walls 8 inch thick .. using 5000 psi concrete at 5.65 per 50 lb bags from home depot and not remove 2×12's until I am done so they can support each other

    Consider when placing the footing hanging a 2x2 to create a "key" to lock in the wall when it is placed.

    Awesome content. I'm curious about a couple of things. Why did you decide to go with poured concrete walls instead of cinder block and filling cavities? Also why are you putting your electrical inside of concrete walld VS running emt on inside of wall surface?

    • @aboulderlifeoffgrid
      @aboulderlifeoffgrid  8 месяцев назад +1

      Guess I didn't want to lay block so concrete it is. Electrical ran inside the wall looks better than outside of the wall. Thanks 🙂

    Are you going to wire tie the form walls together?

    • @aboulderlifeoffgrid
      @aboulderlifeoffgrid  8 месяцев назад

      Not sure what you mean. But they are heavily screwed together, and there will be much more bracing put in. Thanks 🙂

    • @BigJim-zh9gr
      @BigJim-zh9gr 8 месяцев назад +1

      That is going to be a lot of pressure on the screws on just the 2x4 blocks at the top holding the forms together. When we used steel forms, we had 1/8 inch thick rods that were installed on a grid through the walls from one side to the other and cleated with wedges or pins that were tight against the walls at the ends of the rods, which added extra holding power.
      When we poured, we didn't pour at just one place, we poured a 2 foot deep section on all four sides then continued pouring 2 foot deep evenly all way around so no one wall would have all the pressure at a time. This also gave the concrete a little time to set up, which lessened the chance of a blowout or a lift of the forms. I am sure you have researched this already, I am just saying how we did it. You are doing a fantastic detailed job so you know what you are doing.
