I love how you keep the kids involved in every project. Please teach all of them, especially your daughter, what each tool is and how to use it. My father not only built our house but could also do plumbing, heating, electrical & car repairs. What did he teach his kids? ZILCH! Dad focused on my brother’s studies. My brother graduated from a top law school (hint: RFK, Jr. was in his graduating class) but can’t hold a hammer. Dad didn’t think I needed to learn anything but cooking & cleaning. Near the end of his life (b-1923, d-2007) he admitted that his earlier view that only boys needed an education was wrong headed. I’m now a 66 yr old woman living alone in the family home. It infuriates me that I lack the knowledge to make simple home repairs.
Hey, beautiful peolple, have faith and trust in yourself Jacob. I'm a handyman myself, but when I look at what you come up with ... wow! do not doubt yourself!!! You do have the right attitude!!! trust your gut and confirm that with your partner! She is sooooo capable! Dear Nataly (or Natalie) have more faith in yourself too! You are such a strong team!!! Have more faith in yourself, both of you!!! Both of you are capable of soooo much more than you think! Look at what you have a accomplished!!! You bought a piece of barron land. Look at how you have transforned this land!!!
Going home Pinterest and look at the PVC chicken feeders and waterers. They are really great. You'll love 'Em, you fill up the waters and it goes down and you buy the chicken nipples from tractor supply. And then all they do is pick the chicken, nickel and nipples, and it water comes out of them and then the feeders you put. For get a four incorrin's pipe, and you cut a 2 and 1/2 inch holes.
You guys are getting so close to having your forever home built. I sure enjoy watching all the jobs you’re getting done in the process. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I understand it takes a bunch of extra work but hopefully you are getting some additional dollars in revenue for making your videos. It’s going to be so fun to someday sit down with your Grandbabies and show them all the work you’ve done building your homestead. Well done Family!
I never see any chicken run like this big , and with 4 season chicken ‘s palace , with big trees surrounding, benches for kids seat and enjoying their yard, this is I called it HEAVEN , I just love and enjoying to watch your channel , still be careful with coyote and big hogs around , hogs could scoop down , so please carefully.
I swear I'm not trying to be a troll but that fence .... Coyotes have amazing jumping and climbing skills and that fence poses no problem for them. At least down here in Texas. Maybe others will comment and back me up on this. As for the OSB it will be a great test for the durability of that water sealer. lol I love your videos and having them on Sunday is perfect for me. I can take my time and just enjoy your journey. Your kids are building memories that will last all their lives.
So, I had never heard of a Grizzley in the use as shown. Last night I watched a video of a ranch in Montana that is located in Grizzly country. They are indeed different! I am always happy on Sunday mornings when I check in with your channel. I really enjoy seeing the family working & playing together. This was me in the old days. You kids are just wonderful and I hope they continue to love your off-grid life.
I love watching your progress. We are in our 60's now and my husband takes 4 to 5 times as long to accomplish any of our projects. We are just trying to make our living space we framed inside our pole barn that we put in 14 yrs ago into a livable space for just the two of us. All our possessions are in the garage portion of our metal pole barn. I wish I could get him to watch your videos so he would feel motivated to get projects completed. We're basically camping in our building as we do not have our well water plumbed and we have full solar, but also have yet to fully wire our space. We have a few lights, run our refrigerator, freezer and all-in-one Washer/Dryer combo, I hang clothes out on the line to dry except maybe the towels (hubby doesn't like line dried towels! SIGH) and we cook on a camp stove. But now we're looking for a used range so I can bake him things we'd rather not be purchasing!!! Anyways, Just wanted you to know how inspiring your hard working and cohesive family are to at least ME! I always say "be prepared, ye shall not fear" and so, just keep working on it bit by bit!
When I was younger and building my first home I used the old bed bases with mesh as the soil sifter, always built at an angle so gravity did the work. A really handy attachment to it was a vibrating motor so the stones were jiggles, made the work faster too. I like how you came up with your own idea, it works well and saves you heaps.
A strand of electric wire around the top and a solar fence charger. Some wire overhead from the fence to the tress with foil pie plates to deter the hawks. Thanks fro sharing
you got this!!! custom everything to a higher standard in all you do!!!great to see the family and the can i help attitude...love the bigger screed...how can you make it vibrate??? and then you came up with the idea on the trailer...i stand corrected.. not sure how Nat got volunteered toshovel however it worked well...lol..wow, what a difference, very nice!..the super has to check the work, very good...great to see the kids involved!...all of the animals are checking everyone out...to fun..love you guys..thanks for sharing
My favorite, RUclips family! I love watching your videos. You truly give me hope for the future to see a wholesome, hard-working family. The work ethic of your kids is amazing. You guys are amazing parents and role models of what parenting should be.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Jacob you are officially the boulder MacGyver🤣🤣. Blessings to your family.❤🙏🏾❤
Sand lot basketball! Spent many summer days playing ball on the grass lot. That I wore the grass off of it. Indiana's favorite pastime. My mother never yelled at me for it. But my ankles were always dusty and brown on my formerly white socks.
Love seeing little Eli trying to help with sand. You have such wonderful kids. Anxious waiting to see you and Natalie build with rocks again. I really loved the shed. ❤❤❤😂
You guys absolutely amaze me with all of your innovative ideas! LOVE watching your channel, you’re all hard workers, and have wonderful attitudes and great sense of humors. Have you thought of placing cheap netting over the new fencing to keep them safe from flying predators?
Hello guys love the show and I do not want this to reach you late but try not to use regular elbows if possible use a sweeping elbow This allows waste and fluid to move freely threw lines. Reg. elbows will work but you may get a build-up at those pinch points and if you do place a cleanout tee so you can unclog the pipe either way Good luck. Also if you just put legs on the original metal, you could have used the front bucket and just removed the screen after you got a pile of dirt
Hi Jacob & Natalie You are doing a great job on your Rock farm. Woohoo nice to see you can turn your Rock & Stone in to Dirt ...lol Great job on the chicken fencing...
You should add sidewalls to your screen and attach an old weed eater motor with a off set rubber lob on the shaft to make it vibrate looky there an upgrade video for the sreener
Just wondering how the rodent problem was going. Have you seen a decline in numbers? Great videos and as with others can’t wait for the next one. Thanks heaps for your time as I am aware of the time involved to produce and shoot these. Watch you next week then.
The cats are doing their job and haven't seen many rodents except for the ones they get. I haven't been keeping up on the bucket traps because I haven't felt the need to. Thanks 🙂
Why did you cut up the screen? I would have just welded some legs to the back and sloped the entire frame at 33 degrees then just dumped whole backhoe buckets of mixed material on it then drove around to the other side and scooped up the sifted dirt. The rocks would slide down and create a debris pile.
We don't have the larger material on hand to make a full sized rock grizzly. That and we're not running a mining operation. Getting the clean fill that we did did not take but a few hours of time to make. Thanks 🙂
@@aboulderlifeoffgrid A cousin of mine had such a free range for many different types of chickens, but it was completely full and densely planted with old fruit trees - there was no problem with birds of prey. The neighbors without such a dense tree population also had a vertical fence above the enclosure. So - it depends...

chickens climb bushes and trees and from there they can FLY. besides that great size run - well constructed with a sensable stone base.
My heart melted seeing your youngest pile the rock around the fencing...good job kids and ofcourse parents..❤

Great seeing a family work together! Thanks for bringing us along on your journey. 🫡
For the chicken's safety, remember predators from the air!
I love the way you all work together, and all of your problem solving answers ingenuity. Keep up the great work.
Yes!
Clip the Wings of the
Chickens, so they don't
Fly Out of Enclosure.

Love the whole family, just wish your videos were longer. Can't hardly wait every week for the next episode.
You don't have to be afraid of plumbing. Just think of it as conduit but sloped and water tight.😂 Another great video!

Wow. What a difference in the amount of small rocks with your new method

Working smarter not harder 😊 WTG
That must be Eli….are we going to dig a ‘twench’? Love seeing the kids helping out - that’s what the kids of great parents do!😍🇨🇦
😁
Weld a couple of bars at an angle across the screen, it will slow the dirt/gravel down and increase your volume. good work.
You need to fix the chicken coop for birds
Ces enfants sont adorables . Les Parents peuvent être fiers 👍

You both are a clever couple, nice going
Good morning, how are you guys doing today? Looks like everything's coming together. Keep up the good work.

It has crossed my mind and is something to consider. Thanks 🙂
Another great job! Only thought on the chicken area, aerial predators. Have seen people use netting.
A coyote will hop that fence with ease. They hop property fences all the time.
Great video, AWESOME TEAMWORK
I made a compost sifter box on rockers put the big stuff back
Fantastic - your kids are the best helpers. What a great video. Stay Safe!
Brilliant job guys good sized chicken run if they try to fly out you might need to clip their wings
You have a good ideal about the rocks.❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Hi Jacob & Natalie
You are doing a great job on your Rock farm. Woohoo nice to see you can turn your Rock & Stone in to Dirt ...lol
Great job on the chicken fencing...
you should have used the original size and put on your big trailer. Work smarter, no harder heheh
You should add sidewalls to your screen and attach an old weed eater motor with a off set rubber lob on the shaft to make it vibrate looky there an upgrade video for the sreener
I'm so glad for another visit with us. How exciting to build your home. Thanks from Central Oklahoma

Could you use that same set with a course grate to make gravel for your driver way?
I think so
Hey, did you ever fix the T junction in those drain pipes by the shed, where it was installed backwards?
I'm not sure what you're referring to, but everything is working fine. Thanks 🙂
Are you not afraid of birds of prey, e.g. the hen hawk, or similar birds you might have.?
They are a concern. We may add something to deter the hawks. Thanks 🙂

Not really
I'm looking for a welder that I can run on a solar generator. What welder do you have?
It is a ProStar Avenger 140 MP MIG Welder. If your solar generator is big enough, it should run fine. Thanks 🙂
👍👍👍👍👍
