- We went to go get a new battery for the 2010 Chevy Tahoe and then we lost oil pressure due to a junk a/c delco oil filter, we caught it in time thankfully, the truck has a lot of miles on it but we have always kept up on maintenance.. thanks for all the support, our email is h1971elcamino@yahoo.com

I’ve worked at a Chevy dealership for 8 years we service a lot of boarder patrol and the metropolitan police department vehicles
Boarder patrol has a odd service schedule 15k oil changes at 7500 they request a oil filter change (no oil change just filter)and we top off the oil
I’ve never seen a ac delco filter fail. The lc9 5.3 you have in your Tahoe has active fuel management it stops operating at 23 psi and will trigger the engine to go into limp mode at 15 psi the engine at that point will be noticeably louder at 0 psi that LS would be extremely loud . The ac deco filter is oe and I guarantee it out flows most filters especially when its cold do to its e core design compared to the traditional drilled stamped steel core on most oil filters not to mention the Ls series of engines have a internal bypass valve in case there is a oil filter blockage of any kind. Common internal oil pressure loss on ls engines front camshaft seal ,internal bypass valve I mentioned earlier it’s plastic ,and the oil pump pick up tube O ring .things to check function check on your gauges, oil pressure switch and screen, wiring also under your power steering pump their is a Allen key plug on the engine block that goes directly into oil pump you can screw a oil pressure gauge and check pressure from the oil pump and compare it to what the oil pressure switch reads on the scan tool and the oil pressure gauge in cluster.
we changed the filter and oil and it went back to normal and has not malfuntioned since.. but we appiate the insite on the engine and we have done another video of us cuttin the filter open and it was full of sluge. defently was pluged lol. buti really appeciate the insite buddy thanks
@@MMCGRACING then the filter done what it was supposed to do. The older gm v8 engines had terrible issues with sludge especially in cold weather and short trips. I had one that if you went above 3000 miles you would have to stick screw drivers into the drain plug hole to keep it draining.
Good to know. I bought a retired Police car 2011 caprice PPV that was pretty sludged up.
Good thing you caught that in time! My buddies truck did that, we had to change that screen and the sending unit. Not a hard job , but definitely requires some patience
I hear it’s common on these great ls engines, not for us old guys for sure lol, bbc, Sbc for life lol
Right on Herb glad the" Mrs" wheels are back up and running.
Thanks sir definitely a shocker, didn’t know what we were going to do if it was a the engine, thank god it was only the filter 😎✌️
OK Brother You Know What I Do For A Living Right? That Being Said My Suggestion Is For You To Go Ahead And Drop The Pan And Replace The Oil Pump Pickup Tube O-Ring!!! That's Your Problem!!! I Have Fixed Many LS Engine's By Replacing The O-Ring!!!
Keep Rocking!!!
I know you know what’s up my brother, hate this new school junk lol 😂😎✌️
Good save my Brother . 🍺🍻🍺 You guys Have a happy New year !!
Same to you! My brother 🍺🍺🍺🍺✌️
Glad that you fixed it!
NAPA, or WIX, is All I run!
Take care, Hope You All Have A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Thanks, you too! Buddy be safe up north riding 😎✌️
Great save Herb ! Happy to hear you all enjoyed your Christmas, maybe get mumma to keep an extra eye on it and let you know if any more weirdness goes on. Cheers 👍
Thanks my brother, hope all is well in the north 🎄✌️😎
Wow, I knew the frams were no good, but now the AC Delco, good to know. Glad it wasn’t anything major. 👍🏻
I always thought ac delco was ok myself, but it was definitely plugged up and we always keep up on oil changes 😎✌️
Fram started to make the AC Delco filters a couple of years ago.
herb ive used ac delco for years never had a problem but now you have me thinking
I could see if I never changed the oil and there was sluggi in the engine but I changed it every 3k since we owned it and got it from original owner lady that worked for gm that has service records so I don’t know buddy, maybe I just got a bad one 🤔✌️
We had a great Christmas up here. Got hammered with snow and high winds from late Friday (23rd) thru late yesterday (26th). Still getting flurries today and tomorrow. Supposed to be up to 9C/48F and sunny by Thursday. Got another cold front and snow coming in over the weekend.
Have had bad experiences with filters before. I have always changed oil and filter at 8000 kms/5000 miles. Been using synthetic oil for a long time tooSwitched to WIX filters about a year ago. Had always bought OEM filters before that and then did the research. Don't you love it when you spend good money to get her washed and it's dirty before you get home!! Be safe and stay well.
Thanks buddy, we got about 4 inches and lots of wind and ice, kinda made me mad in a way lol 😆
used AC DELCO PF52E over years in 98 GMC
truck and 98 Chevy Tahoe no problems! I have called different Chevrolet dealers now and then and asked about type AC filters (the E and non E ) they use for their oil changing and any issues with them and so far none. if there was a problem they wouldn't be using them! But keep the updates and eye on your Tahoe if anything happens like this again! might got bad one out of bunch🤷
I think we got a bad one, usually they bypass if the filter gets plugged or something, as you can see I used them all the time also on my daily driver and I had one other time when this happened on a Sbc but first on the ls platform Tahoe.. thanks for watching hope you subscribe this year is going to be a good one 💪✌️
Morning buddy I just fixed a 2011 for the same issue no oil pressure put a new overture sending switch in it and a new O-ring on the pick up tube. I will give you a call later today
Good thing you got that solved
Hopefully it’s fixed buddy we’re gonna have to keep a eye on it for awhile to make sure it stays ok 👌✌️
Glad you caught it before it killed it my 07 GMC had both the sending unit go bad and the pick up O ring go and I've had to replace the lifters so I'm not a ls fan God bless
I’m with ya my brother 😎✌️
Don't forget to reset your oil life monitor since you changed your oil.
WIX XP, Bosch Distance, I run amsoil signature series and change my oil at 3000 for cars witha turbo, my other cars I change at 4000 without a turbo.
I always have gone 3000 on it, and will continue no matter what the oil companies say ✌️💪
If it's a AFM system then you have a High Volume Oil Pump and those small filters clog easy with deposits. Change the filter every 2K.
thanks my friend 👍✌️
AC delco were very good filters. They went to shit with the ecore plastic design. I still have a few old PF59 delcos that I run on my 2006 Yukon. You can still buy the "classic Delco" filters in some locations. I like wix, wix xp and Napa Gold filters.
I agree with you my friend thanks for sharing 🙏🏻✌️
My wife's suburban has had this problem happen twice. Both times with an AC Delco oil filter. So right now I have a K&N filter and next time I'll get a wix. But from the research I've been doing a lot of ACDelco oil filters have been failing and losing oil pressure
Yes sir I will never use another on on anything, thanks buddy ✌️
I just went through this with my Cadillac DTS !!!!! Used a cheap delco walmart oil filter and a month later my low oil pressure shut engine off warning flashed . I shut the car off checked everything and I had oil so I started it and limped it to AutoZone . I grab a new oil filter the 10$ stp gold filter and on the drive home it came on again so I get home and change the filter and the warning hasn’t come on again . I cut the ac delco open and it looked as if the filter was used for years it was full of brown nasty shit . If the light comes on again I’m replacing the oil pressure switch but I have a feeling that delco filter was the problem
they don't make them like the old days, i beileive you get what you pay for, i use wix or k&n now , no more issues since
Marry Christmas told through you Mr. Herb .tell Terrance " HOYER" Boyer in Ohio . please!! From Gordon
Sounds like the by-pass valve wasn´t working. Did you cut it open too see?
I carry a couple of extra filters in my car......just in case the oil light goes on.
i did cut it open and the filter looked crappy so it was plugged for sure so your correct the by pass wasn't working switched to k/n or wix and never had another issue since ✌️👍
@@MMCGRACING Maybe a Monday Lemon. I call it "Poor Quality Control!" Good you saved the engine. I´v heard good things about the WIX filters. If your satisfied stock up.
It's Got 273 Thousand Miles!!! I Promise You The O-Ring Is Hard As A Rock And It's Sucking Air!!!!
Hate To Tell You But It's Not Fixed!!!
Do Not Drive This Truck Out Of Town!!!!
The Problem WILL Return!!!
Just Do Yourself A Favor And Get That O-Ring Changed!!!
This Typical Customer Description I Here!!!
Do Yourself A Favor And Listen To Rocker Pat!!! He Knows What He Is Doing!!!!
Rock On!!!!
Man I don’t wanna 😁, but I even said it myself in the video it could be one of three things.. and the stupid o ring on the pickup is one of them, good eye on seeing the mileage lol 😂😎✌️
That was a close call for sure. The newer cars are even worse. The problems with direct fuel injection and 6,8,10 speed transmissions that fail just after the warranty expires.
Coincidence or engineered to fail? I'm sure Tony could tell you a lot about all the late model junk out there.
Ohhh yeahhh I see it daily over there newest junk is junk for sure, I love my old school Sbc lol 😂
My 2010 did that I always ran 10w30 Valvoline high mileage and it called for 5w30 so ran that had that little filter changed below the sending unit my truck know calls for 0w20
This calls for 5w30 and hopefully it was the filter 🙏🙏🙏thanks my brother ✌️
I only use mobil 1 oil and either WIX, K&N or Mobil 1 filters
What was the part number for the filter
I don’t recall now, but I know I won’t use a/c delco filters anymore lol
Check the oil sending unit, mine went bad 3 times and no screen under it
Check, I thought of that also, that was the next step after the oil change, seemed to work so far 😎✌️
Had an 04 F150 and always used Purolator filters on it. Brought it into a local shop to get the oil changed. (i was just out of the hospital a week, couldn't do it myself) The shop installed an AC DELCO on the truck and I could tell within a week, something was different, engine did not sound right. Got my son to change the filter back to a Purolator and the problem was solved, engine sounded correct again. I will never instal an ACDELCO filter on a Ford again. I use Fram Tough Guard cartridge filters on my Toyota Camry and they work fine. Fram and Champion Labs are now owned by the same parent company, First products. I have noticed they have been playing around switching products around, so some Fram filter are actually Champ Lab filters. Might have to go back to Toyota OEM filters made by DENSO.
They just don’t put the work into making them good like the old school filters in my opinion ✌️✌️
I’m sorry but 40psi at idle after warm up?
I’ve never had more than 25psi at idle since day one off the lot and all of the others I’ve driven as well
I’m not saying you are wrong but do you have an aftermarket oil pump?
Mine is a 2010 Chevy suburban 5.3L
And if I’m not mistaken
They made 2 different factory pump, regular flow and the high flow
I think you might have got the high flow pump
I showed it in the video, and idk what pump is in it but it goes up to 60 around 3000 and at a cruise around 2400 it’s at 50 plus psi, you could be right it probably has a hi volume pump, minor is also a2010 5.3 ✌️😎
I would put a mechanical gauge on it before you replace anything. Make sure the electronics aren't lying to you.
Gauges are ok , hopefully we fixed it my friend, thanks for the suggestion 😎✌️
A synthetic Blend oil is only 10% synthetic oil in it !!!!!!! 3000 miles for synthetic blend oil maybe 3500 tops
I agree ☝️
It it cranks? The sensor is bad.
Nope just a plugged filter thankfully 😅✌️
Yay !!! Just what we all need !! Almost 2023 and yet another BS emergency because someone figured out how to save another penny per unit at the "free labor" factory somewhere thousands of miles from here. I would question if the "bypass" valve/spring took a shit and allowed all of the oil to go right back into the pan???
Dec .23_2022 . It's thrusday at 12:50 pm .lol lunch time here . All animals are still are around . Yes I was still the Grinch this year. The green Grinch household
Thanks buddy much appreciated ✌️
You can also run a Motorcraft FL500 filter on those GM V8s. They are a bit longer but more importantly better quality and cost about the same as an AC Delco. Motorcraft are made by Purolator while Fram makes the AC Delco.
CANT HEAR YOU THROUGH OUT THE VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry buddy audio works on our end, maybe check your mute button or the volume, thanks for the info 😎✌️
