    23:00 - Summary
    Here we look at the proper oil filters to use that meet the C7 and C8 Chevrolet Corvette requirements for filter bypass pressure and filtration ratings.
    GM notes we are not to be using the old PF48 or PF48E or the Mobil 1 M1-113A that all have the old 15psi bypass pressures.
    We are to be using filters with a 22psi bypass ratings like the PF64 and Mobil 1 M1-114A and those that are cross compatible like:
    AC Delco PF64
    Fram FS12060
    Fram XG12060
    Mahle OC1421
    Mann W7056
    Mobil 1 M1-114A
    Wix WL10290XP

    I would stick with what it came out of the factory, AC Delco. Some filters actually restrict flow.

    How come you didn't include Purolator, Hastings, Bosch, AMSOIL and Royal Purple to mention a few, actually the Purolator construction I saw was better than all the ones I saw in this video. Actually Purolator invented the oil filter in 1923 - and they have spent the last century relentlessly perfecting oil filters. Happy 100th Birthday..!!! Also take note that the Fram Titanium has a seal where pressure release valve meets the cartridge an extra plus I guess.

      I wanted to amend and add to my comment. There are only two main oil filter manufactures currently producing I would gather about 90% of oil filters sold and used in the United States. The Parent company is the same for all Champion lab and Fram products.
      ***** Champion labs produces the Fram product line, along with Amsoil, Royal Purple. Fram Titanum has been redesigned as has the Ultra Synthetic but the bypass valve is no different the the other filters listed above, it is physically identical. The FE or Endurance line is the top of the line from Fram.
      ***** Mann-Hummel produces the Purolator, Bosch, and Hastings filters.
      The three best filters in no specific order are:
      ---Fram Endurance (Sold Exclusuvely at Walmart)
      ---Amsoil EAO/EK filters but EAO is the 25k but is identical to the Fram Endurance
      ---Purolator Boss (Made by Mann-Hummel) - Equally or better in some categories. Fantastic filter all around!
      ----Royal Purple Extended-Life filters are also the same and made in the same plant as Amsoil and Fram.
      It was a joint venture to product a top quality filter and keeping the costs down based on volume and not re-tooling.
      I love the Purolator Boss filter and this is equally or even better in some areas as the above. It has fantastic capacity and filtering abilities. But it is one of few that are made by Mann-Hummel to be at the top.
      They make many less effective and quality filters such as the Mobil1 filter, which is so-so in quality compared to their past options. When they reformulated the oils they also cut costs and corners on the filters. I have personally cut-open and compared the old model to the new. I have done exhausted oil analysis testing costing thousands of dollars on five very different vehicles from work vans to a race car, plus two daily drivers.
      I have done the studies and testing and you can make your own choices, but changed your oil 5000-7500 on most vehicles or the manufacture recommended at the very least, but I have found those are often too long on the intervals as most vehicles are used in severe service and not normal day to day highway driving.

    You totally lost me on your description of the oil bypass valve by stating you have to have an oil filter bypass ability because "if your filter for some reason became clogged or with contaminants in it you wouldn't want to reduce oil flow all together" like really!!!??? If you have that many contaminants that they are blocking oil flow through the filter you have major engine issues that providing oil flow isn't going to do anything for!!! If your oil is that contaminated your engine would be screwed anyway. The MAIN reason you have the oil bypass valve is not for what you stated IT IS FOR COLD STARTS IN COLD WEATHER ...... in cold weather the oil can't flow or push through the media until it reaches a certain temperature point. .... if it didn't bypass it could blow the filter apart .... in cold weather ALL filters are regularly by passing the filter media till warm up ...... that's why personally I think it's critical to run fresh oil in the winter ....you should seriously educate yourself on the subject before you put out videos which show immediately your glaring lack of knowledge on the subject ....

    boy r u wrong about magnuson-moss act... u need 2 re-read it...🥴

    • @bhvrdr
      @bhvrdr  Год назад +3

      MM Act doesn't say the manufacturer must cover repairs that ARE caused by a non OEM part.
      Most people just say "the mm act protects you" and have never read it.
      The MM Act theoretically places the burden on the manufacturer to have to prove the non OEM part caused the failure but if the non OEM part actually does cause the failure of course the manufacturer doesn't have to cover it
      It also only applies to parts that are non OEM that do meet the original performance specifications the oem part would have called for. Meaning if you put in an oil filter that only filters down to 50 microns but the OEM manufacturer calls for a 30 micron filter you will be out of luck if you have a lubrication related failure. You can use the aftermarket part, you just don't get warranty coverage if you choose one that is junk (ie, does not meet the oem required quality standards).

    You literally do not have a clue about oil filters or what you are even talking about. Fram does not make filters to start with. Champion labs makes Fram, Amsoil, RP, AC Delco, and many other brands. Mann-Hummel makes Baldwin, Mobil1, Mahle, and Wix and Wix XP. Champion labs is clearly the largest and most advanced filter manufacturer. Fram Endurance is the same as the Amsoil EAO and Royal Purple Extended life. Movil1 oil and filters have gone into the trash and are the only thing I agree with you on this video. Their oil is garbage compared to Amsoil, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and Valvoline Extended Performance.
    And yes, there are oil filter testing specifications that are required to carry the certifications. ISO 4548-12 is the gold standard that all filters get tested by. Your videos hold no value and you need to learn before you speak to such of a crowd. How do you think each brand and model gets their specifications? Did they make them up? These are all tested in independent laboratory testing.

    • @MikeJohnson-ip3no
      @MikeJohnson-ip3no 6 месяцев назад +1

      You are incorrect. ISO 4548-12 is one of many tests that CAN be run on filters. So can ISO 4548-3, ISO 4548-6, ISO 16889, ISO 4548-12, ISO 23369, SAE J1985, SAE J905, SAE ARP 1827, SAE 5454, SAE ARP 901B and so in. NONE are specifically required and why you see filter companies reporting all different micron levels of efficiency ratings. There is no standardization.
      BTW, Fram purchased Champion laboratories in 2014. ...

      @@MikeJohnson-ip3no Oh look at you, you can cut and paste off Google. The ISO 4548-12 is the standard all filters are set by, feel free to go look at the boxes that the filter comes in. The others are specifically older versions and vehicle manufacturer requirements, not standards currently being used.
      Also, First Brands Group is the Parent company that purchased Brake Parts Inc. (BPI) and Champion Laboratories Inc in July of 2020 who happens to own the brands of Raybestos complete brake solutions, LuberFiner filtration products, FRAM filtration products, TRICO wiper blades, Carter fuel and water pumps, ANCO wiper blades, StrongArm lift supports, and Autolite spark plugs. Champion labs makes the Fram brand for their parent company. Fram does not make their own filters. Champion labs makes filters for dozens of companies.

    • @MikeJohnson-ip3no
      @MikeJohnson-ip3no 5 месяцев назад +2

      To correct your misinformation, Fram purchased Champion laboratories in 2020.
      The iso standard you listed is one of over a half dozen filter test standards and absolutely none are the required standard for all filters.... which means they all can literally pick and choose which standards and tests to run.

    • @Balticblue93
      @Balticblue93 5 месяцев назад

      @@MikeJohnson-ip3no So you ready to play who is spread the wrong information game? Fram never purchased Champion labs, because their parent company owns them both. And the ISO standard is the standard all major brands use. Sure there are other standards but the one listed is the primary one used buy all major brands. If you want, I can start posting every single brand and which ISO they use and the Parent companies purchasing of all the companies below it. Don't act like you have any information or you would have linked it in your comment. I am so tired of all the garbage misinformation you guys post. I have hundreds of hours in this field of study.
