Hi! Your script really great, thank you so much! I have a question about it: can I save my settings from this script to file (colors tab in settings, ect) to have ability to transfer thees settings between several configs? Thank you
Hi Rodrigo, thanks so much for the script - it's godsent. However, there's one thing i'm missing: I would love to see an option to color selected tracks _and_ items in _one go. So f.e. if i have the tracks in question selected, i would love to see the option in the upper left of your color palette window (where it says "item" or "tracks" or "regions", etc), so that i can select "tracks & items" via right click there. Would that be possible? Again thanks so much for this great script.
I am trying to make the custom action for duplicating guitar takes but can't find the first action "move edit cursor to first something or another lol any idea why it's not showing up? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Literally me! After using it for years, I decided to make a blog article about it then had a lot of "wait you can do that!?". I didnt even know you could color regions with it 😂
I just spent yesterday figuring out Apple's color picker and creating a named list of all the colors I want under the heading of Reaper. Drums = yellow, Guitar = green, keys = purple, etc. I also have a custom key to call it up and it is just as easy to work with as what you show here, but not quite as versatile. I do appreciate what you have presented here and I might pursue it.
Another excellent tutorial, Alejandro! This script will be a great addition to Auto Color/Icon/Layout - it'll allow me to easily and quickly create color variations! Thanks again, my friend!
You know what would be even better, combining RODI's color palette with SWS's auto coloring. If I could say in SWS, auto color my tracks whenever I add one, but pick a colour of RODI's user palette. Honestly, I'm lazy and I'm not too fussed about the colours, as long as it sticks to my user palette ;) If anyone would figure this out, that'd be fantastic.
This looks great! I have a palette I already like, so I'd like to recreate that exactly. Can I specify hex code values in the script? If not, it looks like maybe I can just write them into a text file and load it as a palette?
Hello!! - hmm, you would need to get the hex code of each color and paste them into a .txt file, each line being a new color. Then you can import that into color palette and it will show up in the user line. I am happy to assist you making this, hit me up via discord or instagram, I can make it real quick :D
Not yet using reaper as main DAW but keep "pimp( ing) it with several scripts - screen set layouts custom menu and of course your theme . Thanks for sharing it . Hope I can start making music in Reaper as soon as possible ! Any chance you`re doing video for ReaLearn ? That fantastic midi control scripts which I believe that will be my future reason why I would fully converted into Reaper from Ableton and Max4Live
Hi Alejandro, first off thank you for your great videos. Your content mostly is extraordinary valuable IMHO. I also like your theme very much - so i use it. However - i saw in your video the waveform peaks are inverted (white) in the items. I like that very much - but even though i use your theme, in my case the waveform peaks are black. Which makes it very hard to use dark colors. As i am old and kind of visually impaired, i would like to rather use darker colors for the items - but light colors for the waveform peaks. So how would i go about that? Could you please tell me how to set that up? Thanks for your valuable work. And merry Christmas.♥ Oh, and another thing: I realized that your theme isn't compatible with the theme adjuster of v7 - will that change in the future?
@@broklanders4730 hi hi!! Thank you soooo much! ❤️ Yes I customized it for the waveforms to go white when selected, this is my favorite way! In the next couple of weeks I should release an update that includes this as the default, so you can wait❤️ ooor you can follow the guide I have in the included PDF on how to set it up like that. And I'm working on my own theme adjuster which will be part of the next update :D
@@Reapertips - Alejandro, btw - i would love the waveform peaks to be white in general. Like they are in Logic and now also in Studio One. You should have a look at these, imho. Maybe you can include the option in your future theme tweaker? Just an idea.
Thank you once again, Alejandro. The content is great every time! I was wondering if there is an option in Reaper to color notes by intervals, whether in the piano roll or notation view. I think it would be an amazing feature to help avoid forbidden intervals according to counterpoint and harmony rules. Has anyone heard about this?
Hello Alejandro Do you know if its possible to keep the original color of a take when moving it to another track? Lets say you record a take in a yellow track and the take automatically becomes yellow No when I move that yellow take to the blue track I would like it to remain yellow This way I always know which track it originated from which is handy when arranging guitars Cubase used to work like this in 2007 when I started I don't know if its still like that
@@marijandesin8226 ahhh that's interesting! By default, if an item is uncolored, it will get colored by the color of the track. But if you color the item it will keep that color regardless where you move the item So I think it would be possible to create a script that will apply the tracks color to the item before you move it elsewhere 🤔 (you could manually color the item too, if you really need it for now)
Thank you very much! Some issues (here): Copying colors to paste over the custom row is not working properly here. Drag them and release the mouse over the right place. That is working perfectly. I can't get rid of the first GRAY column. Do you know if is there a way to make Reaper open new tracks above the existing ones instead of the "normal" way of opening under the existing ones?? That's because I tend to imagine the kick as the bottom and place the rest of the instruments above, and keep raising the frequencies or frequency range, which seems more logical.
Helloo! For the first gray column, there's an checkbox to disable in settings > color. To create a track above the track selected or any other position you can map a shortcut to any of these actions: > Xenakios/SWS: Insert new track at the top of track list > SWS: Insert track above selected tracks (you need the SWS extension installed)
Thanks a lot Alejandro! The Bar is awesome! Theres one problem for me tough: When i apply a shortcut to the script, it only turns on the palette. Is there a way to make it toggle on/off by pressing the shortcut key several times?
Hoping you can help. I cannot get the palette to stay docked in reaper when I restart. I tried setting it as a global startup action but it removes it from the sidebar dock each time.
Thank you! I wish it was more straight forward but it would require converting the hexcodes to the weird notation that SWS uses. So from #D68C280 to x0000ff and so on~ When you export the colors from Color Palette you get a .txt file with all the hex codes. You can maybe ask Google gemini or chatgpt to convert them for you to the notation I show above :)
