Reaper since 2018. Six years. How is that only now I find out about using shift to temp-disable "snap"? FFS! Ha ha! I love it that Reaper surprises me still -- big thanks to Kenny G as ever for wonderful, accessible content that every producer using Reaper needs to know.
I disabled snap when doing automation by default. in mouse modifiers. that way my automation never uses snap unless i want to and press a modifier key to snap, but my media items are always snapped by default and use shift to temporarily disable snap
Thanks, Kenny! Yet another example of why you're the GOAT! Shift to disable snapping is pure genius, and will now be an indispensable tool in my quiver!
This is pretty insane. Thanks for showcasing all of those cool stuffs Kenny. Btw, is there a way to turn off snap to grid at any distance in the midi editor as well??
Just started in Reaper (Great videos} Anyone finding like me that in windows that the wording and the options in properties, seem to be different to the Mac which makes following along confusing.
regarding "shift to disable snapping" is this behavior in reaper? or is this somehow a custom action? many moons ago i tried to assign a temporary shortcut to turn on/off ripple, but my intent was to keep one key pressed to temporarily change it, and once i let go, it would go to it's default behavior - just like shift to disable snapping. but i was never able to figure out how to do so. and my conclusion was that it's not possible to create macros/actions with toggle presses, not temporary
Correct. You can't do it in REAPER beyond what they did with the shift key. But you can do it with another program. I do it with Keyboard Maestro all the time for Mac.

You would be shocked at the things I still find out about.

just found out you can also make media item bottom half ignore snap and the top half have snap, or visa versa :)
As always writing a comment to support the channel
Kenny, you are a total Reaper Boss - keep doing these videos as you are brilliant at them - so very much appreciated 😁👍🏼

That last action is the most useful, that I didn't know about. You really learn a new thing about Reaper at every stage!
Me too!!!
Seeing a new Kenny video makes my day 🤘🤘
Turn Off Snapping to Grid at any Distance was definitely new to me!
love this idea for a series! more please :D
A yo! That audition level thing is awesome. Thanks.
“Hope you learned something “ - there’s never been a Kenny video where I haven’t learnt something!
Media item bottom half is great. I use that for razer edit left click!
Always great stuff Kenny 🙏🙏
as always Kenny knows to show us the nitty gritty useful stuff

I don't think so.
@@REAPERMania oh well.
Brilliant! I can't wait for part 2!
I prefer right mouse button drag for selecting items. Clicking and moving the edit cursor has its benefits.
I do use all really intensively. Great tools.
Better and better! Disable snapp temporary is just perfect!
The Audition modifier is GOLD!!!

07/20 Here I changed it. i forgot to have done it so I'm used now ... I've made ctrl+shift instead 🙂 and I was convinced it was thee default 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What's the analog equivalent of Alt-Fader in the real studio? Thx

The first part was a bit redundant and probably could've been half as long. Not a big issue though :)
I thought it was worth over-explaining it because it will be most useful to the newest REAPER users.
How do I move items to specific position or time selection?
Double click them and type it in.
