Excellent video, but note the following: it's possible for the spring in the coil tower to become so compressed that it no longer makes contact with the distributor cap, in which case you'll get spark at the coil but not through the cap. When troubleshooting, make sure that the spring extends from the tower far enough to make contact with the cap.
You helped me get back to work in a day thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world a lot of people just post certain parts but you really made me feel like I could do it. My problem was the ignition coil, I did a compression test and my guess is either it shit out at the same time I did it or it was just time to go it had tons of hotspots either way she runs again.👏🏾
Thanks for reaching out and letting me know the info in the video was helpful! I made the video as straightforward as possible (no fluff) to get right down to the issue causing an engine no-start problem caused by a no-spark issue. Thanks for watching and I'm glad to hear your vehicle is back on the road! thank you i learn a lot. im ryan from the philippines. thank you because i solve my distributor problem in my honda crv 2000 model. your method are clear and easy to understand. thank you and hope you continue on posting more of cars trouble shooting.

great video, except that you were turning your engine clockwise, which is a no no on this Honda engine, as it runs counter clockwise. Other than that, great info.
From your description of how you set up the test, I really can't make out what you were connecting. Could you explain it in a bit more detail? Are you talking about making a mistake in setting up the test light or the spark tester or the multimeter?
My 1998 crv dies at random while driving. Did the cap and rotor thinking it would fix it along with new plug wires and plugs. Still the engine stalls at random but leaves all lights and everything on
The CKP sensor is inside the distributor. To be a bit more specific: there are 3 position sensors inside the distributor. CKP sensor, TDC sensor, and the CYP sensor. When one fails, the entire distributor is replaced since the position sensors are not usually sold individually.
Hey, I have an issue that I can't find much about, key at on position my coil is sparking, its intermitent, when it does my rpm goes crazy, engine won't start. Im guessing a sensor failing and sending a signal so its fireing, whats your guess on this. Thanks and awsome videos!
If my ignition coil become hot does this mean it getting power? I test the ignition coil harness and it supply 11.9 voltage while turning the ignition switch on. There also resistor and condenser beside the ignition coil and i heard if goes bad the car will not spark. My question is if my ignition coil working then i should have spark, right?
Could an ignition coil be defective and still deliver SOME spark? My 01 CRV misfires, idles rough and the engine light flashes when stopped, but is fine when moving. Another suggested this could be the coil.
If the test light does not flash on and off, when you crank the engine, then the ignition coil is not receiving an activation signal from the ignition control module. Your next steps are to test the ignition control module. Here is the link to the video tutorial on how to test the ignition control module: ruclips.net/video/VUDHWc6JuI4/видео.html
Best explained lesson in auto service I saw.
A real teacher, God bless you.

Extremely thorough and clear
Very clear. Helpful. Subscribed.

Extremely helpful thank you
Good explanation but how do you check for ignition control module
I left a comment for a well done video...
Helpful video, thank you!👍🏻
Darn awesome! Thankyou.
Can I just use a spark plug to test the spark directly off the coil?
great video, except that you were turning your engine clockwise, which is a no no on this Honda engine, as it runs counter clockwise. Other than that, great info.
Great video, thank you
Superb! Nice and logical.
what if your coil is working but weak and on it's way out?
While doing the diagnosis I left the negative lead on instead of the positive when testing the top screw could this damage the icm?

How do you determine if the crank position sensor is faulty?
muchas gracias, saludos desde chile
My 2000 crv is dieing out when crank have to put foot on gas for a few sec then it will go any idea what this cld be
Top video
Got a intermediate crank no start on my 01 crv any starting place for me thx
Great video
Good information
My 1998 crv dies at random while driving. Did the cap and rotor thinking it would fix it along with new plug wires and plugs. Still the engine stalls at random but leaves all lights and everything on
So doing the tests he just showed would be valuable
Unless it's a fuel or compression issue, these tests will eliminate or the rest of distributor related problems or pinpoint one
If the CKP sensor is faulty how do we change that? where is it?

Igniter problem ,check for power

Same problem on my crv engine but it won't start, have you find anything?
@@HIGHINLOVE no, my CRV was totalled before I could resolve it :(
@@HIGHINLOVE what was your issue?
I repaired it and sold it, forgot how i did it lol @bradley gordon
You need to do a valve adjustment. Most likely a burnt exhaust valve
I test like in this video.
Light is On when key is off.
Light is off when key is on.
Any idea for me?
Plz tell me , Sir.

Maybe start by checking the #9 fuse
