      Well I mean body expression with the intent of violence haha. I would say Gymnastics (and tumbling in general) is also up there, and it's why I train both Martial Art's and Gymnastics, it gives you so many ways to move. This was Ido Portal's thing before he went all culty, and if you watch his older videos the way that training like this allows you to move is just incredible.

    That low sweep looked super cool. The low tornado kick is pretty high percentage when in range. I landed that in the challenge fight I had earlier this year. The guy who challenged me to an MMA fight was not very experienced, so I wanted to beat him without knocking him out... I wanted to try to pull off a tornado kick in the fight and taking one to the head can be dangerous, so I aimed it at his leg:)

    I really like these collaboration videos like this. 1. With two experienced individuals it gets the point across faster for production value. 2. It shows that, Here is two individuals who are high level and are trainers, yet still are open to and able to keep learning. Many people think that once someone gets to the level of being an instructor that they have it all figured out and know it all. ( If anyone reads this and has an insutrctor that thinks or says this, Run. They are probably teaching Aikido). There is always something to learn as you go along your way.

  • @augustgremaud2738
    @augustgremaud2738 4 года назад +2

    Really cool technique. Maybe a rear kick off the initial sweep would work too! It’d probably come out faster, so if you throw the butterfly kick first maybe you could condition someone to expect it & catch ‘em off guard

    • @AveSicarius
      @AveSicarius 2 года назад

      The way I was taught to do this by my friend (who was into competitive MMA at the time and so it needed to be quick and clean) was to make the setup a low kick and then the damaging kick as basically any spinning/turning kick you want. From this position you can throw a turning sidekick, a spinning hook kick, a tornado kick, whatever you want really so long as you know how to control body movement properly.
      Basically you condition the low kick, throw a few out from a distance (step in low kick) then make to do the same but intentionally follow through before you hit, then you throw out the turning sidekick/spinning back kick. This works even better if they try to check, because a spinning back kick will either throw them off balance or go right through their guard while they already have their weight on one leg. You can adapt this into a hook kick or tornado kick depending on the distance, at a closer range a back kick is generally going to be better though because you can still get power. A hook kick works really well if you bring their guard down with midsection kicks, and a tornado kick works will to give you basically a smorgasbord of targets depending on how you've been conditioning them (you can still throw a sweep, head kick, or body kick from the tornado spin). For the spinning hook kick you have to both be really good at hook kicks and also judging distance/space, I'm pretty sure I've seen Edson Barboza do this, but he has godlike spinning hook kicks.
      Definitely something to try in sparring, I wouldn't willingly turn my back without properly conditioning the opponent first though haha.

    I kinda suck at remembering technique names,but i think it's called sukui nage(spoon throw or something like that) it's cuttently illegal(some jackass decided that touching the legs should be illegal in competition), so some use the one you showed,but it isn't very popular

    I've watched this video multiple times and i'm curious if you could use this effectively to multiply the power of other attacks? In a sense picking up the foot in that first movement so it acts as more of a weight to start the momentum. Then trying to combine it other techniques. Like instead of a leg kick a front kick, or a rear hand strike like a straight or an overhand. You have to make them respect that low kick first but once they do i feel this can set up some very unorthodox and unexpected shots.

    will it work in the street, will it not, ? Might work for one guy and not the next, BUT, it makes you work the body, makes you work the mind. Sometimes stuff happens so fast that your body does stuff your not even aware of. That said, rear leg front sweep, and we'll say right leg just to keep track. Instead of going all the way around bring the right leg back up for a hook kick. Even the quick front leg sweep can be brought up for the hook. Scored me lots of points . But once again the more you can make them defend / move away the harder for them to think of countering.

    Every martial arts claims this takedown... But really it's Taichi let's be honest. :D

    If u did this in competition (point scoring you’d get a side kick to the face) you did this on the street it’d be a knee to the face I’ve studied martial arts for 20 years (I’m 38) sikaran karate,fudoshin ryu and taekwondo I’ve had a Australian 1st place ranking national all styles and 12 time Victorian champion golden cobra in no scenario would this work my first sparring lesson I attempted the spinning sweep kick from no retreat no surrender movie (drop to one knee spin the opposite way on the ball of your foot and sweep) that was only one spin I got kicked in the head no one in their right mind is gonna wait 2 spins

      Lol... so how do you explain all the times that people actually did this and didn't get a sidekick to the face? How is that possible?

      hard2hurt very easily no one would be stupid enough co-operation non real situation EDIT: what type of martial arts instructor can’t kick above the waist I haven’t trained for 4 years and I can still do it

    I don’t see much of this in MMA fights I watch. That’s the ultimate truth test. If something g is effective people will use it. If it’s not effective people won’t use it.

      Although there is alot of truth to that, MMa isn't at it's final form.., something "doesn't work in mma" until it does. The front kick to the face used to "not work", calf kicks weren't a thing a while back, nor was point style karate/hands down style to be excused EVER.
      I mean.., ryo chonan once pulled off a frickin flying scissor heelhook,.
      So i get what you're saying, and you're right to a large degree., but just trust me when i say that there will be more moves proven to be effective (if timed and executed properly) in high lvl mma, it's just not that easy to predict beforehand.
      I mean., who in the world would have guessed that dipping and throwing a reverse overhand elbow would k.o. the Korean Zombie?(vs Yair rodriguez..amazing fight)

      You also don't see head stomps in MMA but them bitches sure do work perfectly.

      Wobbe Fair enough. For sure, all sports are always evolving. Although it seems that fancy and flashy stuff rarely seems to “pass the test”. But who knows. The octogenarian is the ultimate proving ground. That’s what makes it cool. Everyone and their dog is all about teaching this or that. Well, put it to the test, homie. Everything looks cool in slow motion against someone not fighting back.

      biohazard724 You don’t see bead stomps because they are against the rules. Why? Because they work. Are these spinning kicks against the rules?

      Yes. Particularly the leg kick version. Just don't kick to the shield side.

      Yeah it's nuts how years of consistent hard work yields success. There's no rhyme or reason to it!
