    Okay but the guy Nick was actually a pretty good person for this: brings a new and YOUNG audience to the sport, handles himself with respect. If the kids are going to watch gamers, I've seen a lot worse out there. Well done.

    Taekwondo guy here lol we use the hook kick to pull the hands down for the jab cross all the time. When I teach the hook kick to beginners, that’s always part of the explanation of why you might use it. PS try throwing a turn hook kick with your back leg a few times… You’ll find it lands pretty often 😉

    6:50 to defend safe space karate aka tkd, i also never really thought rear leg hook kicks would work, thought they were more for show until very recently.
    i've been finding a lot of success throwing them in sparring by setting them up with low kicks. after about 2 low kicks, the opponent anticipates blocking their left side and then the hook kick comes around and hits them on the other side of the face

I remember being a lowly white belt when GSP was a god (actually a BJJ blue belt)... he would take the time to roll with everyone as to try various technics on different body types and experience levels to evaluate his proficiency with whatever technic he was toying with at that moment. Very gentlemanly and always safe with his training partner. One of my greatess claim to fame; being tapped by Georges before anyone ever knew him!

    Hook kick to 1-2 is quintessentially flow. The joker in the stack, if you will, that can line up "your other stuff", as Mike would say. Try, Hook,1-2, R-Knee, southpaw, jab, left thai roundhouse.

    • @emissaryofelohim1431
      @emissaryofelohim1431 10 месяцев назад

      @7:17, instead of planting your foot, (as you land the right hand, or not land it, be doing this) roll your right foot like you are about to sprint, and whether the R-knee or teep lands or not, load the hips to snap back. A hook would suffice as well. Range depending. The idea is to make the range that you want. So, Ideally, Hook, 1-2, R-Teep, Jab(for ranging), Left Roundhouse, ...or sweeeeeep. As you lock n load hips, for a right hand back across the other way.
