      LOL! Very perceptive! Yes the delivery of the car to the client is always a bittersweet moment. After all the hard work and time spent with an amazing car build, you get to be kinda attached and we love these cars. However, as much of a heartache as that is, the smile and wonder on the clients face when you hand over the keys and make that (often lifelong) dream come true makes up for everything 100 fold. • @MadMaxCars
      @MadMaxCars  3 года назад +1

      @@croccustom Thank you so much for the kind words! Yes the metalwork is undoubtedly the most time consuming and meticulous parts to the build in many ways (not to say there are not others). We do generally find that if we order all the panels we need at once to save shipping costs, its almost always better to buy a quality panel from a labor cost standpoint. Here in Ohio there was a black Falcon XB sitting in the bushes about 30 minutes from where I live. I tried to buy it several times but the guy said it was an 'original Mad Max car' and he was proud of it sitting in his yard. Fast forward a few years and I was at a local car show where there was a RHD XB painted blue and striped like the Mustang Mach 1 with an automatic in it. I asked the guy and he said a friend of his had it in his yard and he got it, painted it. toned down the looks, and put an automatic in it cause he didn't think he could do a 4 speed with his left hand! Turns out it was the same car but the new owner had basically ruined it. I have not seen it since so I have no idea what happened to it.

      Very cool bit of personal Mad Max history. Thanks for sharing it. I can totally assure you it was definitely NOT a car from the movie. There was only one XB Coupe used for the Black Interceptor in the first film, which was reused in Mad Max 2, along with 1 stunt car which was rolled and blown up. The blown up stunt car is int he Mad Max 2 Museum in Broken Hill Australia,, while the one and only original is in the Dezer collection in Florida. Both car's history have been well known since filming wrapped and neither was ever sitting in a backyard in Ohio. So, it was just a cool XB Falcon and you can rest assured no screen used movie prop was ruined. Hopefully it got a loving restoration and is doing we'll these days. All the same thanks for sharing the cool story, and for watching!

    Very interesting video. I do love the Mad Max interceptor however; I have a question, I hope that I am wrong wrong but there does not appear to be any form of air filtering on the intake. Surely if the new owner wants to use it as a daily driver the engine will get wrecked in no time. Just saying. I have owed a number of Oz Falcons XA's and XB's only saloons but but never a coupe. Looks great BTW.

      Thank you for watching and for the kind words. As for the blower question.... In the case of this car as well as the majority of the cars we build for clients, they have the "Movie Magic" prop on/off blower drive as shown in the video here: ruclips.net/video/vIpUX0qUxJQ/видео.html As you can see there is an air cleaner on the carb in this setup. However, engines with a functional blower generally do not have any air filtration as you point out. When we build a replica with a functional blower, they fall into this category. Its one of the unfortunate drawbacks of a blower engine. We do discuss these and other details with any client seriously considering a functional blower car.

    • @MadMaxCars
      @MadMaxCars  2 года назад +2

      The base car was a Australian Falcon XB Hardtop, but not a genuine GT. The GTs are so rare and valuable, it would not only add huge unnecessary extra expense to the build but it would also needlessly devalue an ultra rare classic when a base model would turn out just as awesome as a finished replica. As for the Torino, the 1970-71 sports roof body does have a very close general silhouette and is often used to build "Tribute" Mad Max cars due to the similarity. However it would cost more to "Convert" one into a XB Falcon than it would to just get the genuine article. The "Gran Torino" of later years really does not even have the passing resemblance of the Torino. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!!

Same goes for the Iconic "on/offf" blower. The mechanic claims "600 HP", not 650. In any case, the car you see in the above video has a 351C built as a 408 Stroker, which makes a good deal of HP. • @cblades2002
      @cblades2002 Год назад +1

      It's Matte black not satin black. The paint scheme was described as "Black on Black" by the movie's art director, Jon Dowding. Ray interpreted it as gloss and matte black similar to the factory XB GT design, differing only in swooping up from the rear wheel arch to follow the line of the rear spoiler. The paint was done by Rob Smythe, Beckerley's friend from a former place of employment. Same source as above.

    • @MadMaxCars

      @@cblades2002 I am still curious what you meant by "flaw" in the hood detail, you said something about it not being connected? The factory GT blackouts are actually 20% gloss which comes out a satin sort of finish. Other than incorrectly restored cars they visually look satin. Remember true Matte has an almost chalky appearance with absolutely zero glossy sheen. Definitely not how the movie car or unrestored GTs look.

Its easy to tell, if there is ANY reflectivity AT ALL its not Matte. So many people do not get the distinction and that's ok. In the images he shows (both of stock GTs and the screen used car, as well as the couple replicas he shows images of) you can see the reflectivity. Its minimal since its only 20% gloss but there you have it. Easy to spot. Truly its mostly semantics since the average person just universally uses the term "Matte" for both Satin and Matte, so we can agree to disagree.

    so weird seeing that driver view on the wrong side of the road! :)

      Whether you mean the view of driving a RHD car on the right side of the street, or the view out the windshield from the passenger seat being on the left side (Depends on where you are in the world I guess), VERY TRUE!! Such a fun car to drive for either of those reasons and more! Thanks for watching and for your comment!

    Нагнетатель вы сделали именно рабочим с принудительным отключением или он как и в фильме только имитирует работу?)

    • @MadMaxCars
      @MadMaxCars  3 года назад +2

      We do build them with a functional supercharger for the clients who want it that way. Most however want the "Movie Magic" on/off blower as seen in the film like this one. Мы создаем их с функциональным нагнетателем для клиентов, которые этого хотят. Однако большинство хочет включить / выключить вентилятор «Магия кино», как в этом фильме.

    The MFP badge should be gold, not silver.

    • @MadMaxCars
      @MadMaxCars  Год назад +2

      They are actually bronze not gold, and this one WAS. This car has been a major daily driver for the previous owner for a very long time and the sun just finally bleached out the badge. If you want to see the various options we offer clients see this listing: www.madmaxcars.com/products/product_view.cgi?id_number=270209987738
      Make sure to look at the 2nd photo, that lighting worked better for the camera to show how the color and screen correct bronze ones really look.

    Wth shifter was that?!

    • @MadMaxCars
      @MadMaxCars  2 года назад +2

      I think the shifter is a fairly standard aftermarket unit, but that shift knob is certainly unique. Personal preference of the client over the normal XBGT shifter and knob we normally install for screen accuracy.
