The backup camera is useful. Under powered engines with turbo , start stop engines, all wear the engine parts quickly. Many of the federal government regulations, my opinion, have led to poorer quality vehicles here in the US.
Bring it to Australia, I’ll 100% buy one. Basic as hell, reliable and exactly what an awful lot of people could use to get around, far too many large utes driving around with 1 person using them.
They never will. The big three lobby against these small trucks, and do a great job at that. They market giant trucks to us that often have less utility than these things
@@MsMango-rq6cw it's possible. but it would have to meet U.S. standards before it would be able to come in. though the steering wheel would be on the right side as opposed to the left side as we've seen thus far. i would love to see toyota begin making it here.
I work next to a chevy dealer and the *CHEAPEST* Silverado I have seen in the last year was $38k. IT was a single cab shortbed with no add ons. Almost 40k for that. Its outrageous. I would totally get one of these Toyotas
@@myopiniongoodyouropinionbad wow, i didn't think any of those existed in the wild. i'd be lucky to find one in a 100 mile radius that's less than 50k in a quadcab. extended and singles are harder to find than bigfoot on a stripper pole.
Sadly this truck would never even come close to meeting US Regulations, between crash safety, EPA restrictions, or some state laws that would restrict it because it's classed as a "commercial" vehicle as he says in the video.
This says it all. Toyota was already making the kind of trucks people need, but government lobbying has squashed the hopes of them ever landing in North America.
Ready to buy this truck now! Hard work and dirty hands with clean money! I am an American that was born here! I deserve this truck. Here in the Hoosier state!
Well done Toyota, nice and simple practical and cheap. More vehicles need to be like this, I bet it’s quirky to drive too. If I needed one I’d definitely buy one. My friend had a base model Land Cruiser in Australia and it was so simple and did everything easy.
The great thing about the base like model being so old school and simple is that there less to break down over time, ( low tech keyed ignition and manual hand crank windows.)
@IS Enform Extra This Hilux Champ will be sold here in the Philippines as the All-New Toyota Tamaraw. It will be offered only with a Manual Transmission and powered with a 2.4 Diesel engine.
I have the last year of the base 2wd reg cab 2013 base tacoma as it was exactly what I wanted the only perk is AC . I get more complements at the home stores as it is easy to load . I rigged it with SUMO Springs for more paayload , front and rear 2" hitch , a headach rack with two load extenders which I mount verticly for long things like 16 foot decking . There is a need for basic pickups . I wouldn't hesitate to buy one .
Drop that automatic gearbox, fit an aircon, put in a rev counter, forget about the petrol engine options, and you have a perfect workhorse for the South African environment. Absolutely an excellent vehicle for its purpose.
They can even get smaller than this. Micro trucks are big in Japan and throughout the world. I believe they would sell here as well, if only laws would allow for their import.
The H2 5 speed manual trans is a must have and the fullfloat hubs on the rear axel too. All land Cruiser bits from past successes make reliable platform...year of dragon good omen.
yess i love it! Toyota is back at her basic and no more V8 .Gave me one Toyota for test in my winter,,,i would love it.i would take the small diesel knowing by experiences the reliability of Toyota Diesel engine .AHHH i would like to have one Gervais,Riviere-Bleue,Quebec
We need these in the US badly. The used vehicle market is gone. So many people are limping along in 80's and 90's vehicles now because they can't find an inexpensive option. 5.7L Chevy 350's are gone because everyone revived their old HD's with an engine swap. To get a small truck now the only option is to pry it from someone's cold dead hands because no one is selling anything because the only replacement options are criminally expensive.
I would prob buy one of these , living in Canada though prob never happen . A basic no frills truck , looks like a average joe can work on . no unnecessary tech . I would add a aftermarket radio anyway.
This would be awesome to throw the bikes in and hit the trails. Even if it cost 50% more for emissions/safety equipment/ac, it would still be a game changer. $40k+ for a new truck is just insane.
I think you mean front Led running lights with halogen main beam & rear incandescent bulbs 💡. Yes they should bring it to Australia 🇦🇺 for basic work vehicles 😊
If they had a version with a "crew cab" (full size backseats and 4 doors), even with a smaller truck bed, I'd get it for sure! I rarely fill my truck bed, but I often have two or three people with me.
I'm genuinely curious then, why have a truck at all? You say you rarely use the bed, but since passengers are a priority it sounds like you need an SUV or a crossover, not a truck.
@@TheFishE77OfficialIf, on the occasions that he needs to use the bed, he has to haul something dirty; he wouldn't want an SUV. Used my truck to haul bales of straw for my parent's garden once. I'd still be cleaning straw out of the vehicle to this day if it was an SUV instead.
GREAT machine. LOVE the engineering. My gift to Toyota is.... at 2:10 the fold down rear tailgate blocks the lights when in the down position. This is actually an unnecessary danger for drivers parked at the side of the road doing delivery as it blocks the hazards. Simple solution: CUT OUT rectangles in the tailgate that show the lights when folded down. Less steel in the stamping = savings as a bonus. You are welcome.
Finally a back to what we need in a vehicle , no unnecessary tech
Absolutely
A cheap vehicle doesn't have to mean cheap looking design... so why are we looking at cheap and nasty looking design?
The backup camera is useful. Under powered engines with turbo , start stop engines, all wear the engine parts quickly. Many of the federal government regulations, my opinion, have led to poorer quality vehicles here in the US.
@@jackmorganfiftyfive i gonna have to leave a dislike here boss, it's not that ugly for something that's going to be used for work.
That will never be sold in America...shame
I truly hope that this truck makes it to the US
it won;t
It 100% cant
thanks to current epa regulations that truck would need like 200mpg so it won't come to the us
it would make a good cheap maverick fighter here
It's OK to have Dreams
I wish we could get all these Asian Toyotas in North America. Cheap, high quality and just the basics. Love them.
And Australia too mate

Same in Canada as well.
Same dude.
Yep...please come to the uk
Sweden also plz!
I so wish this truck would come to the US. It's exactly what we need in the construction field
US requirements would turn it in to be a 3 cylinder hybrid turbo, that gets 60 mpg, add 6 airbags, bluetooth & heated seats.
They never will.
The big three lobby against these small trucks, and do a great job at that.
They market giant trucks to us that often have less utility than these things
Massive BRAVO TO Toyota! We want this!

That’s why the big companies don’t want it here

me neither.

There would be a huge market for this in the US hope they bring it here
Looking at around 85,000$ usd why wouldnt people just get old fords and so on instead?

What I have been wanting truck manufacturers to do for years!
