we need cheap, lightweight and reliable cars everywhere, no ev will ever solve that, time to put sense into politicians but that wil never happend, i guess this wil cost above 80.000 usd in norway after taxes
no way the other automakers would allow it here. theyd lobby the hell out of the politicians to keep it from entering at that price . id buy one in a heartbeat
This vehicle is just what we need in every country. Modern vehicles have become far too big and too laden down with expensive and unnecessary gimmicks. All you need is power steering, a powerful heater and a good radio and speakers. I have owned and loved a Mazda and a Toyota pickup in the past but the modern ones are ridiculous. I now have a 24 year old Renault Kangoo and I would not swap it for any luxury car.
@@wilvaro1979h sadly it will not pass safety requirements for other countries so they will have to put abs, and airbags in it maybe other things so they'll either make the price double for a base model or not introduce it to countries like USA, England, Australia, etc.
toyota going back to the fundamentals. It embodies the essence of a true working vehicle, free from unnecessary frills that will cost as much as a down payment for a house.
This brings back memories of the beauty of simplicity from the old school hilux and land cruisers. They’ve just added usb charging point and a screen. Good drink holders, great tray. It’s a Toyota, it’ll go for half a century. This is a game changer in the utility truck market.
Finally a real Work Truck for us that do not want leather heated seats and carpet for $50k and up. In mid 70's a stripper van was cheapest vehicle on lot. A passenger seat was extra. Then next cheapest was a plain old pick up truck with rubber on floor and a bench seat. The price of a work van is north of $50k, which is ridicule's.
Yup, Car manufacturers are missing the boat on no frills, I drive older simple vehicles because of the simplicity, my work car is a 23 Outback that 7 out of 10 times the electronics fails to connect to my phone, I buy cheap Bluetooth connectors off Amazon for the older cars that connect 100 percent of the time. They can keep the bells and whistles, I want simple and cheap. A Shame we'll never see this truck in the US for $10k, but it shows manufacturers can certainly make a cheaper vehicles for the common folk.
Cheap and cheerful. No “bells or whistles” just a basic truck which is what most real truck users need. Modern trucks are just high end SUV’s with a bed and a complete waste of money.
I have been looking for something to shuttle family friends back and forth to beach to keep my car clean, if this comes to US I am all over this! Buy a stripped down version then build the back as people and beach gear hauler, perfect solution to my needs.
I am 62 and figured the vehicle I have now would be the last and I would drive it till it ain't no more. I refuse to buy a new vehicle because they are overpriced with bells and whistles I never use. Toyota is on the right track here and I would definitely consider another vehicle if I could get something basic. I can afford more but I don't want more .. just the fact that Toyota is even thinking along these lines make me want to support them. Good on them.
At last a main manufacturer has seen the light We don’t all want unnecessary tech and bling for the sake of it Just build good reliable practical products at fair price and they will sell really well I can see this being very popular all over the world (but I bet some of the main countries won’t get it)
I had one for years. Amazing truck! Off roading every weekend with it, and sold it with 300k miles on the original drive train. Everything still worked perfectly. Except the cigarette lighter lol
After dealer mark ups and there will be, the price will probably close to double. This is supposedly going to go for around $10k here in the US but I do not see that happening at all.
If it makes it to US shores, it'd be $30k to start and Dealer Premium would bring it well above $40k So in the end, it'd be a bust due to Dealer GREED.
I live in Thailand half the year. I hope they release it there. I’m about to buy a Fortuner but I’ll ask about this before. With the extra passenger cab and some circulation in the back, hell yeah I’m in.
Looks like something out of an anime...wierd styling but the concept of a no frills basic truck is spot on. No thrilled about a turbo-diesel power plant but not unusual for a diesel engine in most of the world. Obviously not designed with the USA in mind and I doubt we will ever see it here and even if we did it would be stupid expensive for what it is..
we need these in the U.S., especially those of us who don't make alot of money

@@gerivazquez425 in 25 years it will be legal to import.

Bring this truck to the USA!!!!!

No its not coming to USA, only made for developing market with starting range of basic model wioo be $10,000. It will available in mexico.
This a working man’s truck. Few frills, all business.
It looks like the heart of these trucks are what made Toyota. Tough basic trucks. Not opulent but comfortable.
No way the lobbyists would ever allow this truck in the us
Unfortunately. It’s too good for us :(
It says hilux in the name, subject to the American chicken tax. So no it won’t be available in the USA.

Robust, basic and with out the bells and whistles is always less hassle 😅
vinyl seats, rubber floorboard? finally a real truck

Not filled with alot of bs tech, just functional, rugged and to a good price. This is what we want.
I like how all sides of the truck bed can be folded down, I wish other trucks did that

It's called copying Volkswagen. They did that way back in the day.
