This was my first time on this age Camry finding a bad computer, I guess that's why they were $18 on eBay. I was really not confident it was the problem, that's why I checked it on the bench.

  • @ServDiag

If you connect the Godiag to the ECM and the blue LEDs from pin 6 and pin 14 aren't flashing, you do not need to check it anymore. It is simply dead.
On some GM ECM models, you have to connect the accessory pin to 12V also on the bench.
    Nice video by the way.

It just jumps pin 13 to pin 4 on the OBD connector. It syncs the Immo data. It is from jarhead diagnostics, it is not necessary you can jump it with a wire or paper clip. I'm not sure if an 04 camry requires it to be jumped or not.

The cars radio, clock, a/c, power seats, and turn signals aren’t working, but the fuses are fine. Now the car won’t communicate through obd2 port with scanner and obd fuse is functioning. It doesn't reprogram it. It syncs the Immo data. I don't know how it works, but that's what service info says to do. Thanks for watching!

Isn't it fun when engineers design stuff to slow techs down with repairs?@@advancedleveldiagnostics

In my years of diagnostics I believe that jump seem to be more like a flash/ type hard reset thus making to be factory settings. Just years doing so on the Jap vehicles I’ve done had to do so.

I don't know if you wanna hear this.. but there's a much easier way to attack the problem of *do I have a bad ECM*.
With the ECU plugged in, constituting a legitimate/built-in load:
    1) do I have +85% of battery voltage at the ECU, on all the appropriate a) always hot and b) hot only in run/start key positions.. then,
    2) do I have *no residual voltage* at the ECU on any principal ECU grounds, meaning more than .100 volts with the key on.. then,
    3) do I have the same 2.6 volts bias voltage at the ECU data + and - terminals as I see at the DLC. These can all be performed with a decent RMS DVOM, and one that also has an LED *rattle bar* below the digits will also give you a quick visual of the repeating COMM burst, but of course that's just icing.
    Catch my drift?
And yes, I always verify I don't just have bad fuses first.

I'm not sure if you skipped to the end or just looked at the thumbnail, but that is exactly how I checked the ECM. I just used a scope instead of a multimeter because it is easier and more accurate. The only reason why I used the breakout box is because I still wasn't confident because I heard a bunch of relays clicking and there was aftermarket stuff mixed in. It was just extra credit to give me peace of mind. Thanks for watching!

@@advancedleveldiagnostics I feel ya' bro. Believe me when i tell you, I'm rooting for you. Not many want to run at what you and i deal with on a daily basis any more. But, oh wow, I guess that means more for us. 😄

Is it for all Toyotas that you can just get a used computer, change vin with a scan tool and plug that little device for 30 minutes?

You were in alldata.. I don't understand why you didn't look up where that relay was. That threw me off
