Wow! that was connector was a mess. It looks like the tech did a real crappy repair. I hope you get paid for this disaster . I’ll assume a lot of auction cars are a challenge to say the least . Thanks for sharing 👍
TYVM for taking the time to put this video out. I envy your patience. I started wrenching in the 70s and over the decades my patience has diminished. Virtually anything under the dash is already a pain in the butt. I can’t even imagine doing under the dash work and video recording it.... Good work.
Nice work. I like the add about checking voltage at the ac amplifier, that would have been a good test. One could also attempt to create a duty cycle to get the fan to turn on.
Oh man , that’s not for the faint of heart ! Thanks for providing this fantastic tutorial ! Extraordinary detail !! Fantastic coaching / narration !!! I learned lots !!!! Thanks mate . 👊🏼 🔥 💻 📈 🔎 🦅
Could you have put power to the blower motor wire at the ac amplifier to see if it would have came on? Im sure whatever was tapped into those wires was the cause of all the issues
Hi I really enjoy your approach to diagnosing electrical problems you are making me better every time I watch your technique thanks again you also patient and calm
They see you are on the right track. They try to use their shop mechanic to save a buck.Shop mechanic need to take an electrical course because he is making things worse guessing at it.I think I would just walk away from that one because the shop mechanic is going to cause that car to go up in smoke.FIRE❗❗❗
I enjoy your videos Thanks for sharing your knowledge I don’t have any armchair judgement when you’re in the middle of of a mess under a dash I would have given up and walked away thanks for your insight and advice
When you tested the fan and found that the power and ground were both good, why was the fan not running since it had power? Just trying to understand how the system works.
@@advancedleveldiagnostics dose that scope have signal injecting. I use my DSO213 on ABS wheel speed connectors w/scanner, etc.. Maybe try for turn fan on at motor for quick verification.
I was going to say something snarky about the dealership saying that it needed a whole harness but if they don’t even have the connector than I can see there logic.
Yeah.. I was going to say-- just get a connector from a salvage yard or fl333Bay and be done with it. The one thing I would have done is to back probe a little jumper into the connector and tie it to your wire and make sure it works before making a call. I guess you probably did it off camera
Excellent update. (I'm driving 5 hours round trip, in the morning, for a pair of pigtails out of a Cadillac STX) Pin fitment and corrosion issues are such an annoyance!
The worst part is the laying down/ contortion workout it takes just to get under there. lol.. You didn't complain much about it-- but I've been there.... it's not fun
For sure. Exact reason why I will never again work under the dash of any Jeep wrangler type again. Had to replace a bunch of stuff, heater core, blower motor , switches, cables, gauges etc. Screwed up my left shoulder big time. Most painful experience I’ve ever had.
@@brianw8963 Yeah.. If you build a little table the same height as your floorboard-- you can just lay on the table and crawl under there; Like a topside creeper basically.. It's still not gonna be fun though. :)
@@calholli That don’t even work on those type of jeeps, bottom edge of door opening is about 10 inches above the floor. Probably be easier to remove seats , either way, I’m not going to find out.

I don't think it was salvaged but it did have 39K and Toyota will only cover until 36k. besides one look at those cut wires and no chance of covering it.
🤣🤣🤣 yes indeed . you show them what you need and they do something else using scotch locks . regular day in my world 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 well almost last week asked for acsess to the hvac model (2 panels need to be removed ) they took the facia out 🤣🤣🤣 “ you said hvac” no no i said hvac module 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Update:
I wired in the pigtail I got from the eBay harness, and it all worked great!
Thanks for watching!
how you find the harness from ebay, I dont see them sell any these ac amplify connector
@@jiamingye6916 It was a complete wire harness, I just cut off the pigtail.

You split connector in half and after that unplug that pin what u want take out. Its design that way

Good point! I didn't feel the need too because it was a new fan and I clearly saw there was no signal.

Good thinking ! I’m curious too .
It's a pwm signal, but sure that would have been a good test.

Did you ever find out why that harness was tampered with?
No, life of an auction car...
You cant depend on anyone, also if its no trouble but i would like to know what brand uscope your using
amzn.to/417oH3N It looks like its on sale now.

It has a module built in that it will only turn on when it has a PWM signal going to the middle pin.

you have lot of butchers out there that works on cars , how do they have a shop, they make real mechanic looks like crap , good video
What version of Toodon scanner are you using?
