A relatively new auction car with that many blown fuses and units out of calibration probably had a dead battery and someone momentarily hooked up jumper cables backwards, or someone looking for a bargain sabotaged it hoping no one else would bid on a car with that many problems.
This was a great review of the Xtool and an approach to scanning DTCs. Thank you. I have a Topdon Phoenix Pro. It is a great tool, very complete. It is slow and bulky. I'm searching for a replacement when my license renewal hits. I'll probably stick with TD, but I'll be looking for something with Android 10+ and much lighter and more compact. Thanks for this video!
Considering all the blown fuses someone must have reversed the jumper cables. Other reviews on XTool scanners have mentioned some quirks. Topdon appear to be more user friendly.
What I do on my D8 (xtool) is just go into the module that you're messing with.. BCM in this case.. then you can go into live data from there and you won't have to search through so many pids. The D8 has actuation tests (and special functions) from there too, and you can usually see some live data as you do the actuation test. These are still pretty good scantools, you just have to use them a little differently on some things.. You get used to it when it's the only one you got. :)
I have the Xtool D7w, seems like they don't care about North America , Europe, or Asia. I get lots of support and updates for Chinese makes very few for all others. Need to find another brand.
Toyota electric windows need to be cycled up and down individually to be operable from the driver side masters, especially after a dead flat battery or disconnect. i.e. push window switch down & hold button down for 2secs after window reaches bottom, do the same when it reaches the top, do this for each door. You will now find them working at the drivers side. I have also struck this on the odd Subaru. I presume the battery went dead and someone has j/strtd this reverse polarity. Lucky for them Toyota's are usually well fuse protected. Cheers.
another awesome video, I love how you don't just jump into the wiring part but actually take your time to read the schematics and test the component integrity before going deep into it! I bought the top don recently and I've been loving it I work at a shop that don't really do too many diagnostics too much but watching your videos inspires me to do them when ever something does pop in although Itake forever to find issues lol
For the past two years, my go-to scan tool has been the TopDon Phoenix Elite. I will probably upgrade to the Phoenix Smart because it has more protocols and a quick scan that seems to go a lot faster.
@@advancedleveldiagnostics thank you! I ordered a package of those connectors that night of your comment and they showed up today... hopefully have time this weekend to solder one on!
on your scan tool, you are on "topology" if clic on "list" you have all calculator listed with trouble code, it's on a left top corner under the back touch
My wife now has a set of gear solely for my work purposes (Black T-shirt / Old Jeans) after I got couple stains/holes on some of my clothes. Does your SO give any trouble with you wearing dress shirt/pants?
I have the D8S which is a lesser model to this IP919 and you can email reports if you first save the report, then go to the main menu and click on reports, click on the report you want to email and click on the share button. You can also save as PDFs and print the reports from there.
Seems like every scan tool has something another one doesn’t . I have a launch X431, a Xtool D7W. The X tool gave me headaches in the very beginning the VCI and tablet would not communicate and after many emails customer service finally sent me a return label and sent me a new replacement and it works great. If you need a contact in customer service email Phoebe she is surperb. Has the fuse problem by any chance reoccurred ? Thanks for sharing stay cool. Artie 👍
Whenever you have an Auction car with many blown fuses, I assume it was reversed boosted. Since there is no history on it, I don't worry about it unless it happens again.
He put a light on the circuit. if it was shorted out the bulb would have lit up. And also the new fuses would have blown right away. someone jumped this car backwards cables. happens alot at auctions. battery dies from sitting. People not paying attention hooking up cables or jump boxes

Spoiled with the Topdon. I know the feeling. You can record and report anything. Search in live data is a must nowadays.
I’ve got a pretty good 2022 Camry I’be been working on for a few weeks.
Looking forward to watching it!

What’s your preference for a scan tool?

@@advancedleveldiagnostics thank you for the reply 🙏🏻
No cigarette buddy or power probe outlet 😂 running through alligator clips
When it 97 degrees outside, you use whatever you have without walking back to the truck😂
Another great video buddy! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day! 👌🏼👍🏼
Thanks for watching!
How did you go about changing the end of your test light to the banna jack? I would love to have mine like that.

How do you know what amperage rating light to use to check for short?
I try to use a 1/3 of the fuse rating.
Good work man.
Thanks!

Lol, in the beginning, she tried cleaning it and gave up. Now I rent from a Uniform service that cleans them. I think with magic😂

Wait 'til the latest update removes features you know you used in the past.
Not suppose to say this but but um... I dropped it few times 🤣

You're a really great mechanic man. I wish i could absorb your knowledge. I'd be unstoppable!!!
Wow, thanks!

Not impressed...he reminds me of a Used car salesman
Did it all happen at once or did the ac send them to get it fixed????
It came from the Auction like this, so I have no history.
It's a club -and you the viewer ain't in it.

nobody ask the question, why does this car have so many blown fuses? that's not normal.
