Brilliant. I am the biggest Trevor fan in the universe. In my opinion you are the greatest producer of all time. I became a live-sound engineer back in 1985 and I have always loved your sound ever since I heard Frankie Goes to Hollywood.
Danke, Trevor Horn für die tolle Musik. Ich bin in den 80ern in der DDR aufgewachsen und wir haben immer SFB und Rias Berlin gehört :-)) Da kam dieser tolle Song ganz oft....❤
The music doesn’t get old. Perfect tunes like this one don’t know time but the artist and his listeners sadly age and get old. Thanks for the great memories
A little bit of Buggles trivia, if you watch the original 1981 video, there's a guy playing the keyboard near the end that is wearing a black jacket that is unzipped almost all the way. He's standing in front of a wall full of electronics. That guy, that guy is Hans Zimmer. THE Hans Zimmer.
@@BAKER22-l4u He was more influential as a producer. He had several huge hits as a producer and he was the front man for Yes for a short time. Add he is considered a pioneer with the bass guitar. His rendition of Two Tribes is amazing and yes he produced it as well.
Including this great song, when I revisit your catalog of songs and productions, I find much of the most favourite music of my youth. Thank you so much Trevor, for all you’ve given us.
You might go and look into what Trevor has been involved with, remembering I commented on both songs and productions. Artists like Seal, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Grace Jones, ABC and Yes, to mention a few. He’s won several Brit awards and a Grammy for music production. Much of Trevor’s production work involved ground up song restructuring and instrumentation. His musical fingerprints are clearly evident in the stuff he produces.
The song... the song... the song which is always in my ear and brain, from morning to night... How can I spend a day without it ^^ ? Love it so much... Tks Trevor, tks so much !!!
This song is my instant love. I remember when I first heard it on the TV I was speechless. I mean, totally in love from the very first few tones. A perfect music we are given.
Horn created some of the most important music of my lifetime and showed me, as listener, how someone's tenacious reach for perfection is almost too good to be true for a listener. The ABC "Lexicon of Love" album is my example -- there are few things in the 80s more jewel-like and perfect than the outro of "All of My Heart." I was 15 and just stunned by music for the first time. Very hard to replicate that experience. And the guy can PLAY. Thanks from the USA, Mr. Horn.
I don’t think The Buggles as a band have earned R&R HOF status. But there is a relatively new recognition for influential singles. I believe Whiter Shade Of Pale was the first song to be recognized. Video Killed The Radio Star would definitely quality for that recognition, I’d say.
As a monumental first song I can see that, like a ball players glove or an artifact from a player who is not in the hall. But as a band I don't think so.
This song just keeps getting better, when it came out it was great, years later it was greater, and now it's just bloody fantastic. This is one of those songs that you never get tired of. Even the band members and Trevor himself, they have just gotten cooler with age.
Wow, my teenage years came back to me, such a beautiful awesome song, and seeing this performance gives it a whole new sense, the additional parts are so tastefully written! Love it! thank you
Still ironic i was a child when video killed the radio star now listen from my smartphone and watch the moving pictures that killed the tv and motion pictures.
A true testimony to Trevor Horn’s greatness that this live performance still sounds as fresh and, if anything, even more relevant than it did when he wrote it over forty years ago. And such a simple, effective arrangement. Only possible because every note in there, sung or played, counts.
Thank you Trevor - I have always loved your work, writing, performing and producing. Since I was a teenager when you originally released this - and then your ztt work - I was mesmerised as I and friends listened and tried to take apart the art of noise; propaganda, and of course Frankie … we had a deep interest in “technological music making” synths/ recording / Acoustics but also a deep interest in classical music - so the musical depth of arrangements always shines through your work - underpinning attention to every little detail from vocals, percussion, synths, etc down through the arrangements - although you are a master of creating a big sound it is always with deft understated use of each element - eg your bass playing is a delight - always appropriate, musical, but doesn’t upstage any of the other elements. You always leave air for the texture to come through, and the elements have their moment to shine, or as is said when performing Elizabethan counterpoint - singers need to let each part “make its point”. It is always imbued with such musicality it all stands the test of time and will not be forgotten, will last long after fashions move on to different things. Well done . Looking forward to your future performances and output. Keep well and thanks for so much thought provoking entertainment and pleasure.
Many, many thanks! Such great memories. I reckon I played my 45 single copy of "Video Killed The Radio Star" over and over back in the day. 🙂 Been a very long time since I worked in a recording studio as an assistant engineer in the late 80's, but I was always mesmerized by your production techniques. Frankie and Seal immediately come to mind. Loved The Buggles and especially the YES albums "Drama", "90125", and "Big Generator". Catching up on your later and current musical endeavors.
@@BAKER22-l4uDude, what’s your problem? This is the second negative reply I’ve seen from you. He sounds pretty damn good for a man his age who is primarily a producer, not a performer who is constantly working his singing muscles.
Слушаю с великим удовольствием Buggles уже сорок лет и не перестану. Абсолютно неповторимый стиль, все композиции 100% хиты. Хорошего здоровья и долгих лет Тревору Хорну. Big thanks for your masterpieces!!! Yours truly, Russian fans!!!
Your label ZTT is amazing and I’m hooked on the bands still like Nasty Rox, Act and basically anything you let Greg Stump put into his ski videos and then of course you realise that you did this amazing song. Mind blown !!!!
I dont care what anybody says, playing the bass and singing is one of the most difficult tasks a musician can do.
It's great that you don't care what anyone says or thinks
No way my dad did that
Having done that I completely agree. Playing guitar and singing lead vox is relatively easy by comparison.
I always thought that the most difficult task was for the drummer to keep time
I believe you sent this to the wrong person I didn't say anything about what you're talking about I
Age is just a number and Trevor Horn just proved that to all the fans in attendance
His voice…after all these years, is still 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼✨
Lol..Ugh NO
It's not great lol. he's old now, the voice is strained and wobbly. Like Paul McCartney
45 years later this is still the happiest song of 1979! ❤❤
He’s still got it! what an incredible man and singer, Video Killed the Radio Star will never die! ❤
This is why RUclips is utterly amazing.
Your childhood musical hero's bringing you great memories of all those huge hits!
Amazing… I remember listening to this song as a 12 year old in 1979, and after 40 years Trevor’s voice just hasn’t changed!
Brilliant. I am the biggest Trevor fan in the universe. In my opinion you are the greatest producer of all time. I became a live-sound engineer back in 1985 and I have always loved your sound ever since I heard Frankie Goes to Hollywood.
Does he usually play with a pick? I believe he doesn't use one in the original MTV video. Thanks
I consider his 2004 performance at the Prince’s Trust to be his Best with original members.
He's brilliant!!!
Greatest producer of all time? Lol..He and his group had ONE hit song..ONE

I absolutely love this song. I was 17 when I saw the video on MTV in 1981. This song always brings me back every time I hear it. Such a great song.
@mikemotta I was 10 years old when I saw the video on mtv got hooked on it ever since
I was also 17 that year, this was such a great innovative pop song at the time! I love it
Trevor Horn is a perfectionist. This is a great rendition of this timeless song. Thank you for sharing!
his VOICE right?! he takes cares so much of little details!!!!**
This sounds so great. What a great job all the band and singers did too.
This song is STILL ahead of its time.
Genius!
Lol..ugh no
This man is a genius!! Producer, songwriter Trevor is just pure music artist .💥🙌🏼💥
It's when music was still GREAT 👍
God bless you Trevor Horn. You made the 80s so much fun!
Fantastic arrangement! Love it!
Big, big fan of Trevor Horn's work. Your sense of musicality and sound perfection is still unmatched.
I love the fact a whole new generation is enjoying and loving the genius and pure brilliance of Video Killed the Radio Star!

Watch and learn kids......no lipsync, Live, no auto tune, musicians who play their instruments.
hes using filters, autotune and a synth
Fabulous song - thank you !
it's the singing an bassing at the same time that gets me the most. It's not like it's an easy song.
This song (orig. mv) is like a gene oblivious to its widespread phenotypic expressions long, long after it came to life.
I love Trevor Horn's work.
Love this live version
wow Trevor!....after all these years you are still the Man!
