This is not a song. This is an opus. And this is a masterpiece! thank you Trevor Horn !
🧐🍷
Can you believe he is now 74 and he still does this close to the original song over 40 years ago? He is amazing as a singer, producer, song writer, and all else he has done in his career.
Playback?
@@IRONIVAN89 I thought that at first but it does not seem to be that. His voice is close but not quite the same as it was back in the 1980s when it was made.
@@IRONIVAN89 The female voice is definitely playback. I find it hard to believe they found two ladies that sound exactly like the original.
@@kazielbonnI thought the same.
Sounds great! Look at Tom Jones singing and he is in his 80's. If You keep it up you usually dont lose it
The audience singing along is just magnificent.
Totally agree!
Holy crap, the whole audience singing along. Sublime.
Ewerybody knows this song
Indeed it is epic when thousand of people singing along a catchy song. It is a life time moment !
Can't imagine what it's like to be on stage & looking out @ all those people singing along to my song
I believe this is now a genuine classic that now gets the credit it deserves within the music industry , so innovative back in 1979. Trevor Horn still sounding great today. R.I.P Linda Allen.
He has such a unique, distinctive sound. Amazing.
Considering Hans Zimmer was on keyboards in the background on the original single

The one song in history that will never get old
This made me cry. Awesome bringing back the first ever MTV video song.
I was lucky enough to be born in 1966, lived through the music of the 1980’s and 1990’s. How blessed I am. Thank you Sir. Ged, UK
100% bang on. What a great comment and a great time to live through. I am also a '66 born.
@@davidfletcher2330Thank you David, where are you in the world?
Hi Mr.Ged,I was born in 1966,everything you write is the same for me,best wishes from Italy!!
Hi Mr.Ged,I was born in 1966,everything you write is the same for me,best wishes from Italy!!
We can't rewind, we've gone too far.
Always gets me.
Prophetic ❤❤❤❤❤
What can I say Brings back great memories AWSUME LOVE IT
Fabulous just fabulous love ❤️
This is a commentary on the success and diversity of 1980's music. The best decade ever.
It’s not an 80s song
It has to be an amazing feeling to have the literal Coliseum singing one of your songs like that. And 40 years later to boot.
For sure. The Verona's Arena is a stunning monument. 2.000 years of history...and all the crowd singing your song. Not bad!!!
To be pedantic, the Coliseum in Rome is 500 km away from this venue in Verona, but the point still stands I guess :-)
and with a good mix of ages in the audience - some young enough to be Trevor's grandchildren.
@@stevenfairlie3407 :)
Well, 45th anniversary/45 years later in 2024 (44 years later in 2023, as the song came out in 1979).
What an icon song of its time !! And still an iconic song of today .
Did you notice the two backing singers aren't singing the are miming the original backing vocals
Always love this song!
I'm listening!! Again....and ...again....!!
She's a fantastic Singer!
I can't never forget those fantastic years of my Life....😢
Fabio B.(Milan, Italy)
Goosebumps ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤still rocking the crowds......masterpiece ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This makes my hairs stand on end and makes me weep…….bring back the good times ❤️
It’s lovely to hear the audience all joining in for this song
Just excellent, great performance
Absolute joy hearing this! To the Hell with the Garbage today!!
To hell with this garbage; it is an agony, even in the first few seconds. Sickeningly horrible!
What garbage is that?
@@rsvihla The GARBAGE RAP CRAP
@@rsvihla The brainless RAP, filthy language and extremely ridiculous sounds, not music, at all.
You know, it's possible to enjoy classic songs and music without putting down the contemporary songs and music. There is some good stuff being produced today as well.
To be in such a historical area, every single person in the crowd joining in and love the moment in complete musical unity. Just amazing to listen to and watch. I bet when the area was built all those years back nobody would ever think of such an event taking place there. Just WOW 😍
This gentleman made music for the future , trust me music from the 80s will come back so many years later cause it was ahead of it’s time
These songs are still ahead of our time
@@ISBE91I’m guessing obsessions with the future in the mid 70s & 80s made it possible, this song was produced in the 1979, the end to the era of funk & disco, and an opening to the 80s. Like they say: Trevor Horn is the inventor of 80s music.
masterpiece of history .... hes still got it .... well done trevor thanks for the music ❤
Couldn't agree more
thanks nice to know x
Che anni, quegli anni! Mi sento fortunata ad averli vissuti ❤

A song so incredible Trevor never had to tour to promote it, what a BOSS
Wish we could rewind!!! Thanks Trevor totally class song of the times times !! And still is !!!
Exactly ❤
Grazie 🙏 Umberto 50 anni di musica top 🔝
Everyones commenting on his voice, which is incredible and exactly like it was on the record. But can we talk about his bass playing? I mean damn, amazing....
I agree! The song came alive once he started playing the bass!. Also, the backup singers were a bonus ;)
Of course we can talk about it.
Genius.
Pretty simple bass line, but wonderful🤓
Watch "close to the edit" and "slave to the rhythm" from the Princes Trust concert, yeah Trevor can play!
Trevor is the embodiment of success, fortune and happiness. He's a true trailblazer unafraid to work completely out of the box.
Solo 2 parole anni fantastici
He's so old now!
Yet magnificent voice!
Just came across this and smiled all the way though. Such a feel good tune, such a throwback to a simpler time. Crowd loving it and Horny in his 70s, note perfect vocally and musically. Top stuff.
Wunderschön und immer wieder so wunderbar ❤❤❤❤❤
He must have thought he’d hit the jackpot when he saw those backing singers!
Singing live at that age.. even if I'm wrong and it's payback, it's still his voice at this age and it's amazing
❤ still love this song respect from a young man age 63 😉💪
love this song... from mainland china!
Fantastica ! Anche nel 2024 ....
First song ever played on MTV....and it will always be
Happy birthday Trevor same day as my mum she's 83 and frail a look after her. Glasgow
What an icon Trevor Horn is. What a great performance.
Thank you the hearts of buggles !thank you the souls of good music! &thank you for all spectacle who share with us those beautifull views & faces (The bright diamand for you ! bravo thak you also for your best invention melodies on wishing you the eternal happiness now and forever billion sweet kiss
There are many songs in history that stand the test of time and being the first ever music video on MTV has helped this song do that! Rock on Buggles!!!
Love that bassline. Classic
Trevor Horn -he is Magic !In this Age(74)he is singen and playing!!!❤
Amazing how Trevor Horn's voice is so similar after all these years.
I think its because he was never the lead singer of a band that kept rolling out hits and going on world tours so his voice never really got bad
Yeah but did you notice they used the original backing singers voices them two girls in the back are myming
@@theoregonaviation5 you could say the opposite for geddy lee
It's not completely live that's why
yet he was a failed lead singer of YES.
A música atemporal, sempre renovada. Parabéns!!!😊
Made me happy cry
What an incredible piece of music loved it then and loving it now bringing it all back
You still got it brother!👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This has gotta be one of the HAPPIEST VIDEOS on youtube!!!!!!!
One of the best, if not the best pop song ever.
Vince Clarke said this was the perfect pop song ever written.
Fantastici meravigliosi unici....
Bravo....Thankyou for taking me back all those years...😉
Forever radio star
Primo video in rotazione su Mtv. Ha aperto le porte a Visage, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, all'immaginario visivo new romantic e all'estetica anni 80.
Flawless vocals and bass from Mr. Horn. An anchor in music history, wherever we go we will always know where we came from.
And extra weight from this 5 strings bass, considering he doesn't play the low B string on this song.
@@dystopia2386 He wrote this, recorded it, produced it, and released it over 45 years ago, so far. The B string just grew there while he was playing.
Amazing version
Incredible vocals an incredible all together
The ladies doing the backup vocals were right on the money to the original recording. Trevor was awesome as well!
I think it was the original recording on top of them unfortunately
@@tgguitarguyHe was definitely live tho, I can hear him naturally while the girl's were definitely on playback from original
One of my all time favourite songs. 🇬🇧👍🏻

That was awesome!! What a decade that was.
anthem song - bravo!
Older musicians and older music it's the best 😊
Audio quality is great
He still sounds the same
Backup vocal girls are great
Wow to the crowd
Flipping Brilliant ❤️🙏
I guess Trevor and I are both getting older. The first time I heard this song in 1980 was while I was in my high school drama class. We were rehearsing for a play and had a lot of sitting around time while waiting for our scenes. There was an orchestra pit below the stage where we could kick back and wait until we were needed on stage. My friend Starla had a small radio that we listened to when this song came on, and we were all immediately surprised by its sound. I had no idea who the Buggles or Trevor Horn was until the song became incredibly popular. Then I heard that he and Geoff Downes were joining the band Yes, which didn't make much sense as they seemed like completely different music styles. Once I heard the album Drama, I was blown away. Trevor Horn is a musical genius.
I like Trevor Horn!
Ero presente: esibizione fantastica!!😃
Absolutely brilliant
I was 13 when this came out. Loved it! So good to see one’s singing along that weren’t even born then 🤩
Aw so good. As a kid at school always remind me of day trips to North Wales, great times ❤
I can only surmise that the 1980’s were the equivalent of the “roaring ‘20’s of the 20 Century. I obviously didn’t live anywhere near the 1920’s, but I was so fortunate to have started University in 1981 and lived through some of the greatest music of all time in my opinion. I know that many ridicule this song, but it is an iconic song that has gone down, and will continue to go down for the rest of history. It was the very first song that opened up and was played on MTV. People can say what they want, but everyone “secretly” wants to get up and just start DANCING when it comes on.
This song is very exciting and joyful to hear
A true master of production
Trevor Horn troppo bravo. Di un livello troppo superiore. Top di gamma.
ABSOLUTELY FAAAAAAANTASTIC!!! Never knew the lead Singer's name but he STILL SOUNDS INCREDIBLE and this was a FABULOUS recreation of the BELOVED original recording!!! What a JOY to have been there. Makes me feel like I'm 26 instead of 62 ‼‼‼😁😁😁🕺🕺🕺🕺
Lead singer is called Trevor Horn he's a legend in the music industry produces best music of the 80s like Frankie goes to Hollywood and yes
Ahead of its time.. Classic!
He sounds amazing all these years later! And the backup girls….WOW!
It's obviously mimed. You're not very intelligent, are you?
Na , prefer the original backing singers.
It sounds like they are miming, not Trevor but the backing singers, it's exactly the same voices as the original girls.
Fantastic. Takes me back to my youth.
Being there must have been amazing
this song reached no1 in 1979. a great pop song
He looks great I was 14 when first heard it
Trevor was and still is the best…
Its 2024 and this song still sounds absolutely amazing!!
Well, they only recorded this last year... ;)
What an iconic song.
2nd single I ever bought, still have it.
There's some really good live music on Italian TV.
Yeah, isn't it?!!..
This isn't live Trevor and the lady's aren't singing live
its mimed
@@donjohn2695 Trevor seems to be live, both vocals and bass. The bass will sound pretty close as he's an excellent bass player.
And in Arena
Wow look how much fun everyone is having, love to see it.
