Happy birthday to an awesome guy who, (according to me) helped bring back Bakugan and Chaotic! I’m glad I found your channel. I just wish you got more of the attention you deserved. Also your Halloween look is dope as hell.
yeah but weirdly all their bodies and faces look almost exactly the same as each other. like, they could at least have done some girls with fat bodies or missing limbs. dunno
Cursed images exactly! Not everything has to be targeted at the under 8, Monster High was for older girls , younger girls already had things marketed towards them
They aren't really meant to be scary though. Them being monsters is meant to make them unique. A lot of people I know don't think that they are scary, and those who have were too young to really have an opinion at the time and where mostly just told by their parents that the dolls would be too scary for them. The dolls where all about expressing what makes a person unique and about accepting your flaws and liking yourself for who you are. They were monsters so that they could take on any design and look really different from each other. I can see where parents were worried, though. The idea does sound a bit worrisome, but I think that if people look more into the dolls, and especially into the webisodes and movies, they will realize that it is actually a very nice doll line.
Fun thing I've learned from working retail, there's a _lot_ of people that think the world should bend to them and will not stop throwing a fit until you give in. I've had people threaten to call the cops on me because I won't serve them a minute til close. I've been threatened with legal action because the store I worked for didn't have the specific item they wanted. I've been shouted at and blamed because the customer ordered pick up on the wrong day and they needed it *TODAY* (not _tomorrow_ or _Sunday_ I need it TO - _DAY_ ~stomps foot~). These people literally cannot conceive of the fact that the world doesn't revolve around them and can't take accountability for their own thoughts or actions.
I miss the old dolls I had when I was a bit younger the ones that had ACTUAL ARM JOINTS GOD GUYS WHATS A KID GUNNA DO WITH NOT MOVEABLE ARMS ONLY JOINT IN THE ARMS ARE THE SHOULDERS
monster high taught me and my friends to love ourselves for our individuality. this show, these dolls, these movies helped everyone who felt ugly, different or even just scared of their sexuality/gender identity to embrace themselves. it’s such a shame to see it all plummet
Exactly. They were diverse and positive without anyone having to pressure them. So what they were abnormally skinny, they weren’t human! They made me feel good about myself, not negative. I loved how each character had their own personality and design. Sure I wouldn’t watch them now, but I loved them as a little kid.
13 Wishes will forever be one of my favourite movies in the franchise, because of the nod to EAH with Gigi and Wisp having their own Fairytale with influence from Giles Grimm. I rewatched it not too long ago, and my jaw dropped by how I missed that when I was a kid.
The reboot rewrote the lore of how they met and how the school was built, cuz there are multiple episodes that refer to the movies and characters from them do indeed stay there afterwards
@Miranda Musgraves yeah. It began as 1 book called Monster High and then it got 3 sequels. In the first book, the ghouls use make-up and such things to blend in with the humans (normies)
Honestly tho I have one newer monster high doll and her arms fall off every two seconds and her face looks weird- my old monster high dolls are 100% better
I always thought it was so cool how Ghoulia, the "nerd", was best friends with the popular girl Cleo, because that's something that almost never happens in series like this Usually the nerd character gets treated differently for being weird, but almost everyone likes her in the series, and as someone who related to Ghoulia it always made me so happy
To be fair on that one ghoulia was often treated like a slave by Cleo 😓😓 it was nice that people cared what ghoulia had to say though and that was much needed
How many people remember when Monster High dolls had limbs that came off and popped back on? i really miss those. and they used to make every little detail prominent but now they don't even paint Frankie's stitches... edit: thank you so much for more than 4k likes! this is the most i've gotten on any platform. i do read the replies and think your stories are so wholesum!
I mean Disney definitely ripped off and killed EAH but Mattel killed MH themselves. Listening to a few ultraconservative parents was stupid when at the end of the day kids are (mostly) the ones asking for toys. Change the concept to please the parents and kids won’t like it anymore, and they’ll never ask their parents to buy them
Foxy The Gachatuber I just think descendants live acting, dance numbers, and overall story is just too cringe. I preferred EAH's animated shows and movies also EAH's character designs(especially the boys) look way better than descendants.
monster high was my whole aesthetic, like i used to be the try hard "not like other girls" girls and so instead of barbie, i found monster high and used that to prove i was "different" (lmfao) but even tho i changed monster high will still have a place in my heart
@@tidepodpadthai2633 ur right but my point is, i was being different not necessarily bc i wanted to be, but bc i wanted to look down on other ppl and seem better than them which is not right
Don’t feel bad - the not like other girls phenomenon is a direct result of internalized sexism. Our society looks down on women so much, it it any wonder girls didn’t want to be viewed like that and be seen as different?
It kinda makes me sad seeing how this line died off in the end, especially since I was a fan from the complete start of the franchise :/ I still rewatch the movies whenever i'm feeling nostalgic
Shame how far it's fallen. I remember begging my mom to buy me a Monster High doll as a kid, and eventually she did. Ah, Operetta. You were the start of my crippling addiction to theater.
KIMINKINK ' I broke my original frankies legs back in 2011 bc on the original instructions paper it said that the legs and hands and arms were removable
ONG! like karen, weren't you talking about body positivity? What happened to that with the breasts because last time i checked almost everyone got them, big or small....
Rozziye Monster High is about accepting yourself for you are, and self love. Barbie dolls are like “yeah, I went to the moon! Dad sent me to the moon!” Luther energy, and the old ones are like really really skinny giving off anorexic vibes
My parents actually really loved the dolls designs they said that the designs(old) were unique! Monster High is literally taught me to just be myself no matter how different I am. I am just sad nothing is going on with MH.
Oh, yeah, sure (!) I mean, it’s not like the main character is a reanimated CORPSE or anything (!) Or the fact that they had an actual ZOMBIE as a main character (!) No, these girls are all perfectly human (!) Just ignore the British girl, she’s just a dead teen reanimated as a Steampunk robot by her inventor father. Edit: Holy Hell where did all these likes come from?
@Ana Paula Yeah. Ok, she wasn’t reanimated by her father as a Steampunk robot. But I was just making a point. Plus, looking back now, I actually have a theory that maybe Hebediah made Robecca to replace his actual teenage daughter, who died from unknown circumstances. IDK, I just think it’s dumb that parents complained about monsters not being realistic.
So I've seen those terrible reboot dolls of Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen, Lagoona, maybe Cleo(I don't remember) but ABSOLUTELY NONE for Ghoulia. So in what I've seen, they just completely left Ghoulia alone, which may be for the better cause let's be honest, no one wants to see any of their favorite dolls rebooted. And now that Monster High dolls have been rebooted(it's even hard to find the reboots now) I wish that I had taken better care of my Monster High dolls.
I had a massive collection of monster high dolls, I would ask for one each year for my birthday. I gave away my collection to a little girl who lives next door and whilst I’m glad I did because she enjoyed them, I really wish I still had them, especially since the quality of the dolls has gone downhill :(
plenty of the characters were just deleted in the reboot, ghoulia included. Also Clawdeen's entire honestly super interesting family was erased and boiled down to like 20 little puppies.
god i miss mines i remember i gaved them to my 6 years old cousin and one of my mom friends kid, my cousin taked care for them and the 9 yrs kid taked off the the legs and arms from my fav clawdeen :(
It's called "Monster High" for a reason it's about finding yourself in High School... Reason why their backstories were like that. Parents need to mind their own business this is great quality TV clearly they don't understand kids and teenagers.
Do you want your kid to grow up wanting to wear fish nets, high heels, and more? I hate the humour of this show, and the execution. But I agree with the parents. It’s their kid mind your own business.
@@kayleelomas5598 The thing is... You're presenting discrimination. The things they wear, how they act, and what journeys they have gone through in the show allows character development even if they arent real they have real genuine teenage emotions like us as the season progressed they changed. All that is just horrible bias towards them and telling others what they can and can't express about WHO THEY ARE. You can agree on your opinion, but I cannot agree that parents should control who, what, and how we are... We make that decision. This is a teenage audience... I may have said "kids", but its not even directed towards 12 and under if you actually watch it. 💯
Quincy I have watched it along with ever after high, and if you look at the comment section the magority of the people watching are children. You kinda just said that you liked the show because they express themselves through their fashion, and although that’s perfectly fine for the teenage audience for the children watching they might start wanting to wear those sort of stuff and the parents might find it in appropriate. So if they want to bring their concerns to the show makers, then they should be allowed to do that without being shamed.
@@kayleelomas5598 Right. Therefore they cancelled the show just because of that. They shouldn't have. I implied that the parents had bias' towards them and how they did things which got reported in how they judged the show. Yes if I had children watching it thats another story being that at the age they understand modern day they should be Open about things discussed on the show instead of hiding them. Awareness is what I'm implying but I totally agree. 100%
That's a disappointment is what that thing is. Holy hell, the new dolls take away everything that originally made Monster High so compelling. I'm so thankful that I managed to talk my mom into letting me keep my original Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen, Ghoulia, Lagoona, Cleo, Deuce, and Holt.
@@shreksgotabigonionywap6070 Yeah, the new ones don't have articulated arms anymore. Something about the arms being a 'safety hazard.' Which in my opinion, is total bs.
These dolls were truly incredible. So much detail went into the clothing, the faces, the hair, the accessories, and everything else. I remember the dolls always came with doll stands and these really cute accessories. I loved the characters as well and I started to really appreciate design and fashion when I started loving this franchise. It's a shame that it all went downhill, but I'm glad that it had such an impact on my childhood.
Don't forget the really cool journals that came with every original. So much detail went into these dolls they created a universe without even needing a TV show.
As someone who grew up with the original dolls. When monster high first came out I was in the first gradeand my mom was being her six-year-old watching something like that but now all of these new moms are getting offended at that they were too sexy it is called monster high for a reason they are in high school not middle School not elementary School what you just made them look like or fresh 6th graders.and not to mention that all of the old monster high dolls had creativity and personalities now every single one is just a blank slate and in order to find the old monster high dolls you have to go on to eBay and Amazon.
Just everything about it, the aesthetics, the items, stories, boxes, dolls, doll sets, movies, animation was just all so amazing and nostalgic, I miss the old monster high and the new one is just yikes
Tbh Monster High dolls even though yes, they had skinny waists, they still had like more ~shape~ to them compared to the Barbie dolls at the time. So it made me feel less of that 'skinny pressure' as a kid. I was like "Omg her legs are similar to mine. Like she has prominent calves so that means my big calves are okay too!" I really just think it was just a bit ahead of it's time, but of course parents had to ruin that 😭😭😭😔
so sad parents ruined this. I had a collection of over 80 dolls and had all the originals. my mom had her own collection too, and loved the dolls just as much as i did.
The original Monster High dolls were so unique back when I was little and that’s why I loved them so much. I couldn’t care less about the whole “oh, they’re too skinny,” etc. because I was a heccin’ child, I didn’t think about their body type, I just thought the dolls were fun and I liked dressing them up. The original dolls were so detailed and they had JOINTS. I repeat, they had J O I N T S Why did they take EVERYTHING that made Monster High dolls so unique and fun, and completely ruin it in the reboot? Mhmm. I said what I said. And don’t even get me started on the parents. Parents ruin everything, I’m sorry. There was nothing wrong with how the dolls looked. If that was the case, so many children wouldn’t have loved these dolls as much as they did.
As someone who never cared much for dolls, the movies were the main selling point for me. Sure, looking back now they were a bit cheesy, but I loved them regardless and I still do. The art style was so distinctive and unique. Little tiny me low-key loved the gothic vibe they had. And the character designs were GORGEOUS (especially my girl Robecca. She was just perfect.) The main reason the reboots pissed me off wasn’t because of the new art style (mind you I was slightly annoyed by the change). It was because they got rid of almost all of the OG cast. The cast the old movies spent AGES building! Look, I actually have a list of casualties. I remember being able to take their limbs off, such as arms and legs, and sometimes losing the pieces. Monster High dolls and Ever After High dolls were the only ones able to do that, and that's what made them unique and special.
Exactly me and my mom loved MH and I was around 5 or 6 when I started getting them and it never crossed my mind that they were ‘’ too skinny” or “ unrealistic” because they were dolls. I also loved how articulated they were too unlike barbie
I was pumped about the joints (had that werewolf girl) because it was the only doll I had with joints (other than a Barbie that my dog stole and destroyed)
I fell like the new “welcome to monster high stuff” is a whole different story. Frankie originally was a new girl who wants to fit in. Now it’s Draculura who wants to fit in. It has a whole new plot. It’s not the same story. It has a better plot but the old version gave us more character development. I personally like the old one.
I think they made Draculaura the main character of the reboot because IM GUESSING her Doll always sold best, made them the most money, so they thought she is a fan favourite and used her as the face of the brand in the reboot.
I mean she literally was in EVERY MOVIE, even before the reboot. Like we could have a Movie without frankie but never without Draculaura. Which was probably also due to her making them the most money wise
But the new characters are all so similar and they just made them splattered in pink. I know it's for kids but the old ones actuslly had highschool looking clothes and they we're still pastels and girly sometimes. And also the "monsters" like Clawdeen brothers or that jello ghost buster looking guy is just odd. Some movies we're simple, like the roller one but it thought us to respect eachother and to have determination. It was a really good movie and when I see the eletric movie I just wonder :what the hell happened
as someone who has suffered with eating problems from a young age, monster high never made me feel bad about myself. i always viewed it as "oh they are dead so they're more boney" as a kid and i honestly have no idea where the moms upset about them got their ideas from
I was so upset when they rebooted Monster High and completely nerfed my favorite character (Lagoona) into some weakling with zero confidence/self esteem. Not to mention how terrible they made every other character...ugh. Then there were the actual designs (visually) that were just too jarring, I loved the original art! To lose EAH to Descendants (which IMO is just not the same quality, sorry Disney) after that hurt so much. I really enjoyed both and I'm bummed what Mattel did to these lines. I'm still looking for an original Lagoona doll that I like but everyone seems to be selling the "new improved" doll only -- probably because the original dolls were so much better. These shows will forever live in my memories!
@@rocky_mochiii yikes! That's was a good one. R.i.p Draculora. But yeah, one time I bought a box that had all 6 characters in their original outfits, and the ghoulia doll was already broken at the knee.
monster high was teaching kids to accept yourself and to love who you are, believe me. my generation LOVED playing with these dolls and our parents would always have something to say about them...it's so sad that kids were enjoying this concept SO MUCH and it all went down bcs of adults. also, i've always wanted an spectra doll 🥺🥺🥺 Edit: ive never had these much likes wow!! thanks yall
Yea and the dolls weren't even scary I remember when I got my first doll from Mattel I didn't even touch it but the head fell off and the episodes are just repetitive and not interesting like they were in 2010-2014 and tbh I dreamed better designs for those dolls but I don't have the material to make them
I know! I liked when the dolls had joints in the arms. I have older Monster High dolls that have the actual joints, and I also have this one cheap Frankie doll I got a couple years ago (It was like- 5 bucks at Walmart-) And it has leg joints, but no elbow/hand ones! It's disappointing to see how they dropped the quality with the dolls, as well as changed up the movies into deeper, different animation :/
the thing is, monster high was never scary, like the design of the characters, their clothing was never inappropriate and let's be honest, the characters are in HIGH SCHOOL, I'm sorry Karen but nowadays highschoolers don't wear skirts to their knees. I mean, yeah the characters could be kinda scary to babies, 6-7-year-olds and in between but their not meant to be on youtube anyway, that's why youtube kids exists, it's not the company's fault, it's the parents' I swear, I hate parents that think cartoons(targeted to an older audience like 12+ or something) and violent games can influence their kid into becoming a juvenile/delinquent/criminal, first of all, your kid that is 13 under isn't even allowed on youtube:))
Even barbie was seen as a bad rolemodel when karens where little. they think everything that is not what they grew up with is bad and should be deleted, they dont want people to enjoy things if they dont like it and it can be really tiring and unfair.
Honestly, I think Mattel just screwed Monster High and Ever After over with Enchantimals. We need to make a petition to bring back Ever After and Monster High! Why did they have to STOP those 2 franchises to replace with the STUPID Enchantimals? If Karens are complaining, then they should have their kids watch the bland, no plot, 10 IQ character show known as Enchantimals instead of the glory that is Monster High and Ever After :I
Yeah uh ya know Disney- Descendants (it’s a Disney movie) IT RIPPED OFF EVER AFTER HIGH- Mattel was probably like “yeah no we’re not competing with Disney-“ I love descendants but I do miss ever after high .-.
Monster High became unpopular after they changed it for the parents, and EAH couldn't compete with Descendants, especially after Disney moved their toy manufacturing to Hasbro (originally, Mattel made their toys). First Mattel was with Disney, but when they were suddenly a competing company, there was no way for EAH to keep up. Especially since Decendants did a lot of the same marketing to compete with it directly. It's kinda sad.
as a kid, draculaura really catched my eye, I was OBSESSED with her to the point I would asked my parents to buy me every single version of her, I would even throw tantrums if they refused lmao her two-tone hair, her makeup, clothes, she was a true e-girl icon and seven old me was really into it, and I still do, she would always be very appealing I personally blame her for my current aesthetic and my taste on girls ngl
Unfortunately, a lot of loved companies do eventually turn to the money greedy phase and go from quality to..meh. Such as ROBLOX. If you're an older player, I'd say from
Oh c'mon KAREN THEY ARE MONSTERS LIKE ‘their too SKINNY’ oh ok KAREN THEY ARE MONSTERS NOT HUMAN FRANKIE WAS MADE BY A SCIENTIST GHOULIA IS FREAKING ZOMBIE WHAT U EXPECT
Eh, that’s a weak argument. If anything there’s even less of an excuse to be so skinny, it’s never wrong to push against the beauty standards. I say this as someone who loves MH btw so don’t try me.
@@literallygaston2489 i hope you are joking because 1 if something dies al the water evaporates that makes the corpse so skinny that you can see the bones 2 the characters are are skinny and beautiful because people like looking at beautiful girls more than a flat chested man looking girls and 3 beauty standards🙄 i am a boy and every man or boy i see in fiction is either masculine or beatiful and you here not me whining.
Exactly literally every other doll is like that? Why don't they complain about barbie or winx. OR LITERALLY ANY OTHER DOLL COMPANY. Maybe instead of blaming dolls, they should learn how to be a good parent and teach their children self love.
When they rebooted they just lost so much quality, the faces got 'prettified' and that made me mad. I loved the more 'spooky' faces with the badass angry eyebrows etc. I still collect the dolls, but only the older ones. Operetta, Venus and Bonita femur are my faves. Mattel has done a damn good job with the new barbie things, like having a mainline cheap doll with a prosthetic leg, the two in wheelchairs that come with a ramp to make your doll house more accessible. The different body types just being added to all normal lines is just awesome. They have added the most amazing articulation too.
I just wish that the Ken dolls had articulation/joints. That's one of the reasons why I prefer the monster high boy dolls than the ken dolls. The boys were hella poseable.
What makes me mad the most is they changed Cleo DeNile to be a basic dumb rich girl. She is my favorite character and they choose to erased her sassy personality.
When I was younger I used to give my doll baths and her head would fill up with water so I would try to get rid of the water by shaking her like a maraca..
I loved Spectra’s design, her skin faded from her arms to her hands, and her shins to her feet from white to clear, it looked so pretty and her hair was incredibly soft. I miss old monster high dolls😢
I have one of those dolls, I actually got them at a low price at a clearance sale about a few weeks before they pulled them all off the shelves. Monster high, I shall forever wait your return or i'll do it myself.
I mean it kinda happened at the end of a monster High movie we saw someone from MH talking to someone from EAH. (Though I don’t remember if it was a MH movie or EAH movie)
I loved how diverse the dolls were... they weren't insanely expensive, they were gorgeous, and looking through all my old dolls makes me realize how much I miss walking into a store to casually buy one.
As someone who struggled with body issues my entire life, I never once felt like a toy contributed to that. The adults, though, contributed way more than they realized.
Karen: THEY’RE TOO SKINNY! Me: Frankie is a reanimated corpse... Ghoulia is a ZOMBIE... Half of the cast are rotting corpses... WHAT DID YOU *THINK* THEY WERE GOING TO LOOK LIKE KAREN? THEY’RE. *MONSTERS!* THEY. ARE. NOT. *HUMAN.*
oh my god i used to own like a million, and watched every single movie and episode, my life was DEVOTED to monster high. the new dolls look so dumb, stupid karens went and ruined the cool designs :/
Lmfaoo don’t do winx!! 😂 but you’re absolutely right and it’s crazy to me because “Barbie” is the doll that puts out that body image that everybody got surgery done for.. it all started off the reference of a Barbie doll figure
@@imariwalker7248 yeah your right Barbie is the only doll brand out of Barbie, MH, EAH, BRATZ, etc. where people actually got surgery to look like her if anything parents should just look at Barbie
@@nataliawashington872 Hi, i'm your resident Barbie defender. Barbie dolls are inspiration to many kids and former kids including me, as it encourages a good relationship with carreer dreams. As a young Southeast Asian kid, Barbie was never a catalyst in any of my and my peer's body-related self esteem issues, it was always due colonialism and society's expectations. The people who get extreme and unhealthy cosmetic/plastic surgery to become "barbie-like" are all adults with a problem (and extra money), they don't even look like Barbie, it's all just extreme proportions. Adults, once again, ruining it for the children.
Makes me sad that this franchise is dying. I remember being super excited when MH came out cause I liked this creepy, spooky aesthetic. Looking back on it the show wasn't the best but I wish Monster High dolls would stay.
I loved the message they sent as well :D Be unique be yourself show yourself be spooky I loved that. Because Barbie told me I could be anyone. MH told me I can be myself My tiny kids heart loved that My big adulting heart still loves it
Parents need to realize that while yes these dolls are meant for kids, the characters are teenagers. They’re going to dress like teenagers, not preschoolers.
Honestly I’m a parent and I watch monster high with my 5 year old all the time and it never even occurred to me lol I guess that’s a big perk of being a young parent. I’m unbothered 😂
the diaries did not come with the reboot, the diaries cane with new characters, but as far as i know, moanica, silvi, and the other new characters did not come with diaries
Favorite character: Clawadeen. Why?: it’s because have u noticed this was the only girl without A MAN in the whole group? That bis went and did modeling and fashion in Paris and hosted her own fashion show! She is a legend period. EDIT: SHE HAS BEEN CONFIRMED LESBIAN! OUR LESBIAN ICON
My favorite character was Howleen Wolf, Clawdeen's little sister. She had that "stuck in my older sibling(s)'s shadow" thing going on that I could relate to, and I loved her attitude honestly. My favorite design though has to be Cleo/Nefera Denile. I loved the mummy styles and their faces were fantastic, I adored it.
I’m a goth kid who was raised with monster high dolls, I have no words to express the love and devotion I had to monster high growing up. I loved the movies, the show, the old website, and the dolls even more. I loved the funny monster jokes, the cool more alternative / monster feel of everything. They were the more alternative barbie collection, and they were amazing. It was about friendship and the importance of being kind while also being themselves, freaky flaws and all. And to see it rebooted broke my heart, the fact that they changed the overall plot and ruined the couples in the original store is heart breaking. I just want them to go back to the original monster high and listen to the actual FANS instead of the parents.
As a mom I was so excited when my daughter started liking MH instead of Barbie. I loved the fashion and especially all the amazing hairstyles and colors.
i made this booklet of monster high, i would go on their website and draw the characters and write their characteristics and i even brought it to show and tell cause i was so proud of the drawings cause they were freehand and i drew so many, like there were a lot of pages lol. im sad i can't find it anymore but i loved monster high so much
I absolutely love that everyone loves monster high. I'm the absolute opposite of goth(my style and likes being more cute and bubble gum pop-ish) but they're so special to me. The whole point of Monster high was to let people pick whatever style and things they like. 🥺💞
@@Grace-vy2fj same! i'm not goth or anything like that i'm just basic i would say but i loved them so much, they were so unique, they weren't like barbie where she looks the same every single time just different clothes
@@ems9445 right. I feel like monster high taught us to be whatever we want style, hobbys, and interests wise. Whether that's Edgy, Basic, or whatever else. It's so amazing and I miss it so much🥺
The new monster high *SUCKS* , I was so sad when the new "style" came out, honestly the old monster high was so good N the history/story of the school itself was soo interesting, the new "monster high" *killed* everything. And the new dolls also suck, im glad I have the old ones.
I liked Abbey, and wished she had her own story. She seemed like a very interesting, but underused character. My favorite designs were Spectra and Venus
Honestly, I loved Monster High when I was in 3rd grade. I lived with a neglectful mother back then, so Monster High was a pretty big escape for me. I had the movies, so many of the dolls, and the books. I absolutely loved all of it. When I moved away from my mother, I fell out of monster high slowly and slowly. Recently, one of my friends and I rewatched all of the movies (even the ones I haven't seen) and we still loved them. To me, they're really enjoyable and super cheesy, but that's where I find the charm in it. In other words, god damn I love Monster High. Except for the reboot. The reboot never really held my attention.
I remember one scene where she put on lip stick, and it stayed there for a second in the reflection but then faded away. So I guess she can see it for long enough to see how it looks.
Fun fact! Back in the olden days, mirrors were made with silver. Silver is effective against supernatural stuff, but nowadays they're made of aluminum or some other thing. So she'd actually be able to see herself with modern mirrors lol
If i remember the ds game properly she doesnt, but in the series there is a scene where she does......I dunno its sorta inconsistent whether she can or cant
There's actually a scene in the series where she's in the bathroom with her friends, and they're trying to guide her applying her lipstick as she does (to the left, up a bit, etc)
The thing about Monster High's eventual decline is really sad, because I really liked the concept of it. The parental anger was just overblown, really. My favorite: Frankie Stein Favorite Design: Torelai Stripe
It’s so sad how much the dolls have downgraded over the years. I LOVED these dolls as a kid! I remember getting my first doll (a lagoona blue) and being so happy to finally have one. My favourite doll that I had was my Gigi grant who I got for Christmas in 2014. I remember taking her everywhere I went and playing with her constantly. While I no longer have my dolls as I eventually grew out of them and gave them away I still have very fond memories of my days spent playing with them and making up stories. This was also definitely the start of my crippling addiction to horror.
I had a whole collection of them and I got rid of them as a preteen thinking they were dumb but now I realize how valuable and how much I miss it . I never thought They’d change
I have a box FULL of monster high dolls from when I was a little girl, and their faces NEVER scared me. My mom loved them just as much as I did, if not more, so she kept getting them for me. I loved the look of their scary-chic kinda look. I hate the new Barbie wanna be kinda look they have now. Petition to make Mattel bring their old design back: sign in the comments
ONCE an ARMY always an ARMY yes! I grew up with Bratz, Barbies, Monster high, My Scene, etc. they all had their own distinctive looks which made them perfect. Its unfortunate that Mattel has become so lazy.
I had like 50 dolls but then stupid me stopped playing with them, and sell them ALL only to find out now 3 years later that i abseloutley love them again and now i miss them and cant get them back ): i had rare ones too i think ): i want them to make them again i want my dolls back ):
Dude I remember getting the main characters and they came with journals, phones, pets, brushes, and that big box was just ICONIC! I mean the dolls that are being made now really reminds me of dolls you would get at the dollar tree...it’s not creative anymore and it just isn’t as exciting

I am confused, how is a doll being skinny, scary to a kid?
If they don’t like dolls, then don’t buy them.
I can't think of a good name
But like- theyre M O N S T E R S
I can't think of a good name
Good pointS
Fun thing I've learned from working retail, there's a _lot_ of people that think the world should bend to them and will not stop throwing a fit until you give in.
I've had people threaten to call the cops on me because I won't serve them a minute til close. I've been threatened with legal action because the store I worked for didn't have the specific item they wanted. I've been shouted at and blamed because the customer ordered pick up on the wrong day and they needed it *TODAY* (not _tomorrow_ or _Sunday_ I need it TO - _DAY_ ~stomps foot~).

Cheetahgirl Studios thats sad-
So I've seen those terrible reboot dolls of Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen, Lagoona, maybe Cleo(I don't remember) but ABSOLUTELY NONE for Ghoulia.

I repeat, they had J O I N T S
Why did they take EVERYTHING that made Monster High dolls so unique and fun, and completely ruin it in the reboot?

My daughter was so disappointed when they stopped making them with articulated joints. That is when she stopped buying them.
Me too!!! Everyone does
I think they made Draculaura the main character of the reboot because IM GUESSING her Doll always sold best, made them the most money, so they thought she is a fan favourite and used her as the face of the brand in the reboot.
It’s based on the books

No seriously so many toys I wasn’t allowed to play with because my mom thought they were “bad influences”.
@Mynti Girl Same! When monster high first came out I wasn't even allowed to watch it or have the dolls
the thing is, monster high was never scary, like the design of the characters, their clothing was never inappropriate and let's be honest, the characters are in HIGH SCHOOL, I'm sorry Karen but nowadays highschoolers don't wear skirts to their knees. I mean, yeah the characters could be kinda scary to babies, 6-7-year-olds and in between but their not meant to be on youtube anyway, that's why youtube kids exists, it's not the company's fault, it's the parents'
I swear, I hate parents that think cartoons(targeted to an older audience like 12+ or something) and violent games can influence their kid into becoming a juvenile/delinquent/criminal, first of all, your kid that is 13 under isn't even allowed on youtube:))
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PARENTS AT THE BACK
Even barbie was seen as a bad rolemodel when karens where little.
they think everything that is not what they grew up with is bad and should be deleted, they dont want people to enjoy things if they dont like it and it can be really tiring and unfair.
I think the only problem I ever found was that they broke kinda easy

I knew her voice sounded familiar! No wonder they were my favourite characters
And Laura Bailey is one of them. Lol they came after my time so I don’t really remember her name. Lagoona, maybe? That sounds right.
Honestly, I think Mattel just screwed Monster High and Ever After over with Enchantimals. We need to make a petition to bring back Ever After and Monster High! Why did they have to STOP those 2 franchises to replace with the STUPID Enchantimals? If Karens are complaining, then they should have their kids watch the bland, no plot, 10 IQ character show known as Enchantimals instead of the glory that is Monster High and Ever After :I
Yeah uh ya know Disney-
Descendants (it’s a Disney movie) IT RIPPED OFF EVER AFTER HIGH- Mattel was probably like “yeah no we’re not competing with Disney-“
I love descendants but I do miss ever after high .-.
The reason why Ever After ended is because it was ripped off, Descendants. Hasbro knew they couldn’t compete with Disney so they ended the series.
I can't think of a good name. I misread it as “monster high became popular after the change” and I was ready to fight you.
monster high is coming back to release 2 new dolls! If we hype them enough they may even bring the series back
as a kid, draculaura really catched my eye, I was OBSESSED with her to the point I would asked my parents to buy me every single version of her, I would even throw tantrums if they refused lmao her two-tone hair, her makeup, clothes, she was a true e-girl icon and seven old me was really into it, and I still do, she would always be very appealing
I personally blame her for my current aesthetic and my taste on girls ngl

Exactly literally every other doll is like that? Why don't they complain about barbie or winx. OR LITERALLY ANY OTHER DOLL COMPANY. Maybe instead of blaming dolls, they should learn how to be a good parent and teach their children self love.
The oversensitive parent ruined monster high.

i know right :((( i’ve actually heard some parents say that they are “scary” and “not christian” -_-
their kids didn’t think so.
Yes they did. I wish they stayed the same and we could've seen what turns the brand would take.
Bonita dolls are rare af in england. I have one and dont know what to do with these.
They took away the awesome articulations from the Monster High dolls and gave them to the new barbies...
Yeah they basically Barbie-fied Monster High (and don't get me wrong I love Barbie) and therefore alienated the whole fanbase
When I was younger I used to give my doll baths and her head would fill up with water so I would try to get rid of the water by shaking her like a maraca..
