Hello Negative Legend, I'm a huge fan of your work, the explanation of the reason why some series ended is a brilliant concept. I would really like to see you top yourself with an episode called "What happened to Turning Mecard". You already did many TV shows I love so it would really be fun to watch not only how it ended but also how it started. Thanks is advance. (If any viewer sees this comment and want to see my suggestion made by Negative Legend, then plz like the comment to get Negative Legend's attention)
You mentioned being gnc so just out of curiosity, you're nb and gnc and not just one or the other? I know they're not the same but that's exactly why I'm asking, since people seem to use them interchangeably when they aren't the same thing, no offense meant, just asking
And her hair too. I was really jealous as a little girl because I wanted the ability to change the length and style of my hair at will like she could. Short hair one day? Alright! Waist length hair the next day. Yeah!
@@screamingbanshee1282 Blythe dolls were originally made in the 70s, and were also made by Kenner/Hasbro. They are a separate line that were integrated into LPS around 2010 but had a solid following among collectors before that. After releasing the mini dolls as petsitters, both collectors and kids would want the Blythe dolls. Really smart marketing!
I feel like the main reason why LPSes “flopped” had a lot to do with the redesign of the LPSes around 2013-2014. I remembered the OUTRAGE the LPS community had when Hasbro changed the look of the LPSes. Of course now the pets look so much better than in 2013 (in my opinion at least) but its just not the same as before.
I agree; they stopped doing bobble heads and that made fans fairly upset. I remember many were emailing hasbro upset over the change. Saying it took away the heart of the toy. Past that later on the line it just got worse. I remember the quality just tanked. In the early days the LPS would be made with amazing airbrushed details and magnets in their feet so they can interact with toys. But the last LPS I ever bought before I said no more from me was one with a huge heavy h Rubber head that popped off and it was covered in holes that were ment to hold crowns and flowers but without the accessories they just looked god awful. Also they couldn't stand cause their huge heavy rubber head was lighter then their cheap plastic body. I said no more after that point. Its one thing to keep with the times and another thing to drop quality and care for a quick buck. The early days had clothing pieces made from cloth, tiny details like rubber ducks for bodies of water towels, bows and collars. I was such a huge huge fan of it all since I could remember but even as a kid that change just wasn't working for me. Companies often think that kids won't care if quality drops but I really don't see that point. Everyone wants a quality toy. I mean I still have my LPS from the early 2000's today but the newer age ones so many pieces got lost I just had to end up throwing them away. (I kept losing the bodies so all I had were rubber heads)
That's exactly around the time I stopped collecting. I hated the new design. Especially the eyes. They looked all crystallised and frozen. If you actually look at the new LPS you can see they went back in time with the design. Eventhough the new LPS aren't the old ones I used to play with I really appreciate the 2021 designs. They're really cute and they listened to the fans wishes about wanting the old LPS back.
idkw they never went back to the og design that everyone loved bc like their sales went down and now I dont even see lps in stores, its just a dumb choice they made
But do they contain dangerous choking hazard magnets in the paws though 🐾? You don't know real playtime till you have lived on the edge like the OGs. 😤
The hub was weird. In between girl talking to animals and talking ponies having life lessons, you had robots fighting to the death, sometimes including zombie and giant dragon robots.
i know it's been _years_ and there's no way the old LPS designs are coming back, but i still miss them so much. they were cute, easy to play with, and memorable. i feel the new ones lack the creativity and effort the old ones had
Personally, I had more issues with the quality than the design- the heads pop off way too easily and the rubber is kinda bad, especially at the area where it joints with the head. I doubt they have changed that, but hopefully that will be addressed some day
to the fair to the new ones they do have interesting molds but the design is just so boring. Like the new glitter pets are either just completely glitter or just some random glitter on their heads or something
I actually think the new ones have more personality than the old ones, of course, i love the old molds still more, but if I'm doing a custom and need something expressive, I'm probably gonna choose a newer base.
The most heartbreaking moment of my childhood was asking for a bunch of Littlest Petshop toys on my 6th birthday so I could be just like my friend, only for her to give hers to me because she had "grown out of it" (she was at most seven). That was crushing.
I had a best friend since 1st grade we grew up playing littlest pet shops together. When we got into 9th grade she stopped talking to me and ignoring me. She wanted to fit in with the “popular girls”. I’m 25 now and still to this day we aren’t friends anymore, sad how things change when you get older. But I still have my littlest pet shops I loved collecting them. Hopefully my kids someday will like playing with them brings back memories.
@@lalisamanoban4396 Aw, I'm glad you kept the littlest pet shops. It sucks when that happens, but she wasn't worth your time if she left you for such a dumb reason
I remember in 2008-2014 all of these Littlest Pet Shop videos that were versions of Alice in Wonderland or The Wizard of Oz, that looked like they were filmed on a potato, but got at most 4,000 views. To me, that was considered going viral. I miss those times.
I’m surprised LPStube wasn’t mentioned in the video. There’s several RUclips channels that would use the toys to tell stories and make series. The decline in toy sales might have been linked to this community of content creators because they used the LPS toys that came out before the 2012 show. The show changed the style of the toys which most people inside and outside LPStube didn’t like (mostly because it didn’t match the older style). This led to less people buying the toys. The LPS’ fan base (from my understanding) was more about what people did with the toys (making videos, creating custom designs, etc) rather than focusing on the show.
I use to collect them and ine kf the reasons I stop was because the new show versions were extremely creepy to me. I use to watch those videos and there was this one youtuber who was close to my age at the time. Those videos also introduce me to pretty little liars. I probably shouldn't of watched that show at my age at the time.
He talked about lps youtube videos very briefly at the end but... still. Anyways, the show fanbase and the toy fanbase feel very seperate. I think its because most of the people in the fanbase before 2012 absolutely HATED the new toys when they came out and probably didn't watch the show much either. So most of the fans of the show got into the franchise with the show. And I think lots of people still care about the toys, not so much the shows. But most people really only care about the 2005-2011 toys. The instagram community is honestly doing pretty well, which wasnt mentioned at all. I was honestly kind of disappointed in this video. I love video essays and I was really excited to see one on LPS. But most of the video was spent talking about the 2012 show, which most fans now don't care about that much. Like said before, there wasn't even a single mention of LPS popular. I get that they didn't really like or understand the skits and shows that people make, to be honest I feel similarly and I can't take any of those videos seriously, but they're so important and iconic to the community. To just brush them off as "people playing with their toys and filming it" kind of... hurts? Because while that's what it was originally, it's become more than that. People nowadays will spend hours scripting and editing and planning these videos. Not to mention most of the big LPStubers aren't even kids anymore. Even if I also find them really cheesy, I can understand how much work goes into them and how important they are. It's become a creative medium, it's a way for people to tell stories and share them with the world when they might not have the resources to do so otherwise. And it's been *successful*. I find that really fascinating. Not to mention how the most popular generation of LPS was gen 2, despite not having any cartoon to promote it. I genuinely think one of the reasons it got so popular back then was because of LPS videos online. The fact that they were made by kids, and therefore would interest other kids and mean something to them in a way that a cartoon made by adults couldnt... I find that really sweet. Those videos inspired so many kids to buy LPS and make their own stories with them.
I really never understood that direction. Does anyone remember the LPS pamphlets with the collectable charts and other toy ads? They presented Blythe WELL before the show, like years, and the toys never sold much. I know I hated them. If anyone bought them it was for any pets that they had in the box but Blythe alone rarely sold or even had a section in the toy aisle among the rest of the LPS stuff. I would think that would've been their sign to NOT continue with her. The animals sold well enough on their own
@@beyondevermore blythe is actually its own brand and was also originally made by kenner and when the company got bought by hasbro, they started producing blythe along with takara. in 2010 hasbro started putting mini versions of blythe in with lps sets, my guess is to try and get people in the west to buy blythe since theyre mostly popular in japan as collector dolls. this failed though, i don't think fans of blythes even liked the ones made for lps and i know lps fans certainly didnt. but the blythe brand is actually still doing pretty well in japan, and collectors in the west seem to still like them too
Is it just me or is anyone's biggest moment of LPS was that one ep where Blyth became friends with the Britney twins and they had that B.F.F song? Anyone else remeber that
As a kid who grew up a LPS fan with over a hundred pets to this day still i'd like to provide a little insight on what happened with the 2012 show. A lot of fans HATED the new pet designs and the show that went with it, i recall a few boycotts and even videos about these kids yelling at hasbro for the change in the models of toys. I also recall that i was one of the kids disappointed with the new look. I hadn't thought they looked as good anymore and even thought they were cheap compared to the previous models. I think the fandom reaction probably had some influence on killing the franchise to be honest. Even I stopped buying the new pets and instead turned to buying the old ones from second hand sources like ebay and amazon.
It's a shame too because the Littlest Pet Shop too is actually really good, and the art style that the show went to is so perfect because it fits the littlest pet shop toys. I don't know why the 2012 toys didn't just go with the 2011-past designs.
It's sad you don't really see them in stores anymore. I have over hundreds of them. They were the perfect toy for me. They were small enough, but not too small to lose and had really creative playsets. Now it feels like they barely care. I had the diary, toys, nintendo game, and all the other stuff you mentioned. Edit: Funny enough, I actually preferred that the pets had no definitive personalities so I could come up with my own ideas.
Same, I had soo many! They used to be so popular that they'd have an entire aisle to themselves in toy sections. Now you can really only see small single pet shops being sold in a single row 😭
They stopped selling them at all in Australia years ago. You can’t even access the website either, it redirects you to Hasbro’s front page. You need a VPN to view the LPS website if you live in Australia. It’s sad :(
Literally every show where the main girl has a single dad: Dad, I have super weird strange rare psychic abilities. I KNOW. YOU HAVE THOSE ABILITIES JUST LIKE YOUR MOTHER.
@@icecreamhero2375 I don't think ANT farm counts. She didn't have magical abilities or anything. It was fairly commonly known that she was gifted with music.
I mean, Blythe had such a huge head because she was based on the real life Blythe doll line where all the dolls have giant heads and skinny bodies. There were even mini Blythe dolls made and released with the 2005 LPS animals!
The original doll i the 70’s had a huge head due to the head containing different eyes. She had a pull cord that would change the eye color. Since she was the height of a Barbie doll, her head had to be big to hold them.
LPStube was a huge catalyst of LPS popularity. I binge watched so many LPS series on RUclips and would play with my toys to create similar stories, even made my own videos when I was a kid with my dad's camcorder lol
i didn't realize the same person who voices rainbow dash and apple jack voice Blythe! I knew she sounded familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it, and now i can't un-hear rainbow whenever Blythe talks
wow i had no idea that they took the same VAs O-o thats very interesting, but makes sense; i mean, it probably would take a while to find whole new VAs
@@angelicicarus8578 Well they were marketed towards girls because girls are more likely to buy them but that doesn't mean it's only for girls. Anyone can get them, they're adorable.
My favorite LPS memory has to be the time I caught an episode before school, and it was the one where Blythe thinks about telling Mei her secret. The song for that episode is still in my playlists to this day.
That sounds so bad and out of context and it is funny. But that quote also brushes off what lpstubers do. They don't just "share their playtime with the world" out of what I've seen, a lot of work goes into these videos. They write scripts, build sets, get or choose clothes for characters, make props if needed, figure out good filming angles, change sets when needed, edit the videos, and now with COPPA, have to put a disclaimer basically saying "this is not for children" in the video, description and comments if they can get a comment on there in the first place. It's basically like making a film/movie but instead of live action or animation the medium is through LPS. It's not just play, it's creating and telling stories.
@@darkrose7774 your comment confuses me so I'll need some clarification. But I'm thinking you're saying, "your comment makes no sense, please clarify your comment for me." If that is the case I'll ask what part of my comment needs clarification?
Surprised you didn't mention the giant community of lpstubers in this video. In the 2010s it was extremely popular and lots of nostalgia stem from the series and music videos people would make. Lots of well known series in the community/fandom have millions of views, like LPS Popular. The community is still alive and well but they don't get as many views as they probably would have a few years ago, and a lot of big well known creators have disappeared or have quit because coppa messed up their revenue stream and how they can interact with their audience. I'm glad it hasn't died!
@Katie Lewis LPS aren't gone, they're still in some stores. And people that had pets for years are allowed to be a bit upset with something they love gets replaced or changed to something not that great
@Katie Lewis It's not that simple and moving on from something that was important to you and affected your life is not very easy to move on from but alright. Barely anybody even complains about the current gen so
@Katie Lewis Time passing doesn't stop people from being into something. Hell it's been like what... 18 years since I've watched Hamtaro as a child for instance, and I'm still obsessed with it because that's how my autistic brain be. "Growing up" and just letting something you are nostalgic about go doesn't work the way you think it is, especially if you really want people to just stop enjoying things that they loved doing and being into as a child purely because those that were children back during their interest/obsession's craze are now adults. it doesn't work that way. LPSers on RUclips didn't ruin LPS, if anything they kept the brand alive and alongside that they kept the interest in LPS going. COPPA ruined LPS RUclips. Anyone still remember LPS Popular the Original? Yeah, COPPA ruined that and made its creator unable to continue as she originally had that as her revenue. Now it and the one series that kept my love for LPS going since the early 2010s is practically forever cancelled and it still makes me upset to this day.
LPS was literally one of my main childhood fandoms. I was always in tune for the series' upcoming episodes and would collect the toys as well, mostly buying them in Poland for relatively low prices back then (my siblings and I had literal wars over the toys). In fact, my artistic journey kinda started from there as I would draw different original characters for the show after taking part in an LPS oc online competition (my works were pretty good and original, but a person with an LPS version of Grumpy cat won anyway). I have a folder with a hundred of these and I cherish it till this day. Thank you, Negative Legend, for reviewing this fandom because it's pretty underrated in my view and hopefully it will return to it's former glory one day.
The people who made their own original series with their LPS literally influenced my childhood. I guess its like the equivalent of how kids now are watching Spiderman Elsa videos, but if those had passion put into them
i was born in 2003 and i loved the shit out of lps growing up and i used to play with them for a loong time all my friends have moved on at that point i was so sad when they stopped apprearing on the shelfs and changed the designs of the animals
Too bad Littlest Pet Shop did not last as long as the Ponies, it would've been interesting to see a crossover between the two shows and see what kind of an adventure they would've had. Maybe Blythe would've replaced Megan as the human who comes to Pony Land.
The 2012 show was so good. Watched it out of curiosty since it aired right after MLP during S3, and I was hooked so quick. There was a very nice community during the livestreams - small, but nice. I get the feeling the writers had a lot more freedom than what the later season of MLP got and I ended up looking forward to more LPS episodes than MLP ones. There wasn't a single episode out of the 104 that aired that I didn't enjoy, though sadly the series finale felt like it rushed to wrap up some plot points right at the end. I guess the writers were hoping it'd go on for longer. A World of Our Own didn't get that same community that the 2012 series got sadly, but it was still a great show that I loved while it aired. Cute, funny, and great characters. So sad it seems to be dead now :(
I think the down fall of lsp began when they changed there eyes from painted to creepy glossy ones then added scary looking humans dolls to the world of lsp
Do you know how many elementary kids who called hasbro on the phone when they first changed the LPS design that literally NO ONE LIKED back in I think 2014 or 2015? 😭 Now that I’m almost 18 and still look at the toy section, they’ve gotten “better” but not the LPS designs I used to play with
I missed the LPStube days- really- it WAS the sort of 'fanbase' of LPS, centering around skits, series and short movies using the toys, though with the hash out since G4 and the fanbase growing up, people left and its pretty dead. The series, the videos, the stories are now a relic of the past.
i didn't actually get into LPS until i finally started watching the series (my brony friend liked it,so i decided to check it out. ironically, that same brony ended up kinda hating MLP after a while because they made a harmless fat joke) and i was pretty into it (though i got to the party a little late so it was already pretty much over at the point) and even started a small collection of pets.
5:32 Blythe is actually a reference to a range of fashion dolls of the same name, also originally sold by Kenner in the 70's! (However, they've since been bought out by Japanese toy company Takara since 2001.) They're known for their super big heads and how you can change out their eye colors by a pulling stream mechanism in the back of their heads. I think around this time was when LPS and Blythe did a collab toy line?
to be honest this whole thing makes me sad and angry because I remember when they first changed the whole look of the LPS and even 9 year olds called hasbro to change the lps back because I don’t understand why they changed it at that time Lps was popular as heck I blame hasbro for the downfall of LPS because WE ALL TOLD THEM WHAT WE LIKE!! they really didnt care about their Lps fans. Now that happened. :)
Blythe is based on another franchise. Look up Blythe dolls. They were a Kenner toy from the 1970’s, and their eyes could change color. This was actually a pretty brilliant way to bring back an old toy line that had been largely forgotten except by avid fans of the dolls.
Okay I remember watching Littlest Pet Shop religiously and wanting to be a fashion designer just because of it my older sister had lsp toys when I was younger and by the time the show came out she was in her teens and 9-year-old me was obsessed my playlist consisted of every single song that ever was on that show looking back at it definitely was a huge inspiration to what I like to do now like fashion and learning to sew and do jewelry and all that
As a Transformer fan I can clearly say that in order for a long running franchise to live forever it needs a strong fan base. Don't forget Hasbro are not the only company who makes the figures now days but also various 3rd party companies which are meant for collectors.
Hasbro could had just given us what we wanted. Thousands and thousands complaints and still nothing from them. It upsets me to know that they’ve discontinued the whole lps brand! Honestly I hope they come back.
I am sad that the toys that gave childhood to millions of people from all over the world may soon simply disappear, back in 2017 everyone was happy that the new generation of lps was very similar to the old collection, everyone knew that Hasbro's goal is to get as close as possible to the old generation, but five years have passed since 2017, almost nothing has changed, only it has become more difficult to find lps in stores, I think many people just need to come to terms with the fact that something comes and goes, irrevocably, for many years people called and wrote letters to Hasbro with a request to return the old collection, I think they just got tired of it, and they decided to stop doing anything at all. ;(
Hasbro should make a movie based on the 2012 series, which may answer fans' questions of the disappearance of Blythe's Mother, and include the background pets who appeared in each episode, the pet's owners and most of all: Blythe revealing her secret, which would also make her a celebrity along with the pets and should also include an All-Star cast voicing movie characters including a new villain.
I feel like the appeal of toy skits is the same appeal of let's play videos and unboxing videos. Some people like that feeling of just watching a friend or family member having fun.
I miss both LPS 2012 and LPSAWOO, in fact even though it seems like both shows were cancelled for no particular reason, i actually once found an article somewhere that explains the reason why the 2012 LPS series was cancelled after it's 4th season, that reason being that it was cancelled due to low toy sales, therefore i believe that it's quite possible that Hasbro might've cancelled LPSAWOO for the exact same reason, but whether that was confirmed or not is still unknown.
" *my theory about my relatives is that they're very confused about me being gender-non-conforming* " I'm gagging king/queen, same 😅😅😅 Edit: I tried monarch n it didnt hit right, i personally am a they/him NB person who goes by queen when making this style of joke about myself, so I put both options in a choose-your-own adventure style for them.
pssst, hey you non gender conforming is when one is neither female nor male, both, all, or changes with time! and they also have a non-binary sticker on their mic! that means they might use they/them pronouns, so i suggest adddressing them with they/them until it's confirmed what their pronouns are ;3
Story time: So I some how managed to get my transphobic father to buy me a chest binder. It's been about two years since I've owned it, and he keeps asking me why I still have it. I'm also starting to run out of good excuses. So all and all, I'm royally fucked. 😃👍🏾
@@acupoflaxatives9155 their pronouns are in his description for some other videos !! it says (and i quote) "they/she/he pick your poison" i'd check again tho since they could have changed their pronouns
I miss the OG LPS. They weren't really small like they are now. I remember when you had to buy certain small packs where'd you get a stamp or sticker (I forget which one) and you'd put it in this booklet and send it in the mail to get a rare LPS. I got the OG elephant one. I tried to get the platypus one, but I ran out of time to get it.
The creative team and writing staff for the 2012 Littlest Pet Shop series is pretty cool. The creators are Julie McNally Cahill & Tim Cahill, who previously created My Gym Partner's A Monkey and wrote for shows like Sylvester And Tweety Mysteries, Histeria, Baby Looney Tunes, and also wrote Tom And Jerry: The Magic Ring and Tweety's High Flying Adventure. The other writers include Adam Beechen (Teen Titans, Batman: The Brave And The Bold, Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated), Guy Toubes (HiHi Puffy AmiYumi, Slugterra, Wordgirl), MA Larson (My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, Sym Bionic Titan, My Gym Partner's A Monkey), Corey Powell (Dinosaur Train, Krypto The Super Dog), Tom Minton (Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs 1993, Pinky And The Brain, Tom And Jerry Tales, Phineas And Ferb), and Eric Rogers (Futurama, Wander Over Yonder, Skylanders Academy), among others.
the reason why there is no season 5 littlest pet shop episodes is it because that the biskit twins tries to make blythe's life uncomfortable? the reason why there is no season 5 littlest pet shop episodes is it because that the biskit twins is evil and tries to sabbotage for blythe and the pets?

I remember watching a lot of LPS series on RUclips with my friends. LPS Popular was our favorite and because of it we clambered to get the dachshund she used for Savanna. I never got that dachshund and my parents had me get rid of my collection, however I kept the five other dachshunds I managed to collect as well as a glittery fox that I heard was rather rare.
Was always jealous of my best friend cause she had the Brooke toy. Also not sure if it was intentional but one of the plushies Hasbro released really looked like Savanna, so much so that that was the first of the plushies I ever got.
Goddamn I wanted a Brooke toy so much back than... I wanted the cat LPS' that had her figure but always ended up getting the cats that looked way different.
There’s another toy brand that has slightly died over the years, that being Shopkins, I’m not 100% sure if it’s very well known, but it did get some low budget movies, it centered around a bunch of alive foods or something like that and even got a line of dolls.
My opinion: they should have never ended the 2012 series. It had a much bigger cult following than most people think - not only that but the people working on it were reputable and knew how to make the show their own. No future LPS series will come close to the 2012 series unless they're looking to fulfill a more serialized plot.
LPS 2012 was too good for this world. All because of low sales because Hasbro and the backlash for the toys that the series got cancelled with a cliffhanger ending. Given that Discovery Family's rule was... If you aren't ponies, automatic cancellation.... Due to The Hub being gone way too quick while being an amazing channel.
Ah, i see i'm not the only one who knows the exact reason why the 2012 LPS series was cancelled, and it's a good thing i'm not the only one who knows!!!
The 2012 series was my favourite! I miss LPS I used to post about about the 2012 series all the time it had a small following online but sadly didn't reach the peak MLP FiM got. I used to buy the toys and merchandise for the show, now sadly they don't even sell LPS on the UK any more. This series means alot to me especially the 2012 series, the 2012 series is how I met my husband (he was a fan of it too). Mrs. Twombly and Pepper are my favourites.
GOD I miss the LPS online game so much! I recall their were two sites, I think? There was LPSO, which slapped severely and was amazing, and then there was the OTHER one that I can’t recall the name of because it has like, nothing to do. Yet I still played both obsessively (along with Buildabearville) god those were the days
When after 3 seasons they had the Biscuits twins mom just show up and her excuse was she was nursing a headache in the east wing for the past three seasons (spring summer and fall)
Oh man, I LOVED Littlest Pet Shop. I had a ton of them, and my friends and I used to bring them to school and play with them at lunch and recess until like 6th grade (which was still elementary in my district, so we weren’t doing this in middle school, thankfully). When I did get to middle school, we had a garage sale and I sold them all to a little neighborhood girl. I hope she got a lot of enjoyment out of them.
Its so bizarre that Littlest Pet Shop doesn't even seem to have much of a fanbase... Almost EVERYTHING has a fanbase of some kind, even if a small one!
LPS Amino might be the closest thing you can find to an organized LPS fanbase outside of youtube or instagram. I dont personally use amino but I've been aware of its existence for quite a while. Before the cartoon or amino came out, the fandom was mainly on Instagram and youtube Also as someone who makes custom LPS, it makes me really happy to see them be mentioned, even if it's something completely separate from the fandom of the cartoon or LPStube :)
Yeah um... idk really know what to do with my 5,000 LPS collection up in my attic that I haven’t touched in like 7 years 💀💀 the amount of money I spent on LPS is crazy 😂
Wow that's a lot. The most I got was a small box full not including the playsets. I had enough to overfill the old torquise carrier case and the playsets and stuff fills a big pink bin. My parents cut me off from them when I was a kid. They dont like it when I collect things. If you have a ton of roos. I'd take them. Lol I can turn them into my roo characters. I've always wanted to learn how to sculpt lps and other figures into my character or new characters.
if they just make the old lps models and sale them like they used too i think a lot of collecters would buy them and they woukd make bank (especially if they make new models in the old lps style)😳
To be fair to blithe and/or her writers, "TTFN" didn't start out as text talk. "TTYL" is the more common version, meaning "talk to you later". I can't hear "TTFN" without my brain completing, in Tigger's voice, "ta ta for now!"
I never had the opportunity to finish the Littlest Pet Shop show so when it was revealed that Roger actually knew Blythe could understand animals in this video I was genuinely surprised
My aunt recently made me a big crochet blanket in which she incorporated a lot of generation 2 lps (like, the literal toys) and it is my most prized possession. Great addition to my apartment.
I remember the OG Littlest Pet Shop show. I never had any of the toys but I loved the cartoon. It was pretty whacky. When you mentioned that episode with the monkey going to a banana planet it unlocked so many memories.
I really liked the 2012 lps show. I had a friend who had a lot of the toys, but to my knowledge, never watched the show. And I loved the show, but never owned a single toy.
Long comment warning, but please read and maybe share if you want...? LPS used to be so popular from around 2008-2013 I'd say; they had it all. Cute toys everyone loved, DS and Wii games, the TV show, and now it's practically all gone. These days most kids don't even know what LPS are and it's really sad. A large portion of the lps fanbase kinda died / drifted away after the introduction of G3 LPS, as G2 LPS were the ones everyone knew and loved. I gotta say in a way I'm grateful for G3 LPS because if it weren't for them, the show wouldn't be around... as for the new show, (a world of our own) it seems alright and the art style is really similar to that of the old G2 LPS, but honestly I don't think Hasbro will be able to revive this franchise unless they bring back the old G2 toys. Let's face it, majority of the LPS community were people who collected those old toys, and made videos with them and stuff. If Hasbro spent a bit of money on bringing the G2 LPS back, exactly as they were, with a bit of advertisement I'm sure LPS could be successful again. The money they'd spend to advertise and make better quality LPS would be WORTH IT; if LPS could be successful back then and still has some people in the community, then not only would new people see the LPS and start collecting, but some of the many old fans would come back to the community. Most people in the LPS community at this stage are AT LEAST teenagers (I, for example, am 16) and unfortunately the community has gone quiet because after begging Hasbro to bring back the old LPS several times before and not being listened to, we've kind of given up. But maybe, just maybe, if enough people show that we still miss lps and want them back... maybe we have a chance of getting them to re-consider bringing them back. We just can't give up, we have to keep fighting to get them back. Extra stuff you don't need to read, just me crying about how much I miss lps lmao LPS WAS LEGITIMATELY THE BIGGEST PART OF MY CHILDHOOD, NOT EVEN JOKING... You don't wanna know how obsessed I was with it, I used to write 'lps' on every damn piece of paper I had. I miss it so much and would do anything to bring it back, the amount of memories I've had with lps is just insane. I remember I used to love going to the toy section in shops to stare at LPS, and how heartbreaking it was to find the lps section getting smaller and smaller until eventually disappearing.

Hey man can you research a show called max steel there was a live action movie and a reboot I think and I have no idea what happened to it
You mentioned being gnc so just out of curiosity, you're nb and gnc and not just one or the other? I know they're not the same but that's exactly why I'm asking, since people seem to use them interchangeably when they aren't the same thing, no offense meant, just asking
If you haven't, may you please do Strawberry Shortcake next? I DO NOT like her new look now.
You mistitled the video, it's just Littlest Pet Shop, lol this isn't My Little Pony.
Surprised you didn't mention how in LPS2012, Blythe literally changes clothes every single episode, and literally only her.
And her hair too. I was really jealous as a little girl because I wanted the ability to change the length and style of my hair at will like she could. Short hair one day? Alright! Waist length hair the next day. Yeah!

I'm surprised he didn't talk about blythe dolls, were based on old Lps byythe dolls
@@screamingbanshee1282 Blythe dolls were originally made in the 70s, and were also made by Kenner/Hasbro. They are a separate line that were integrated into LPS around 2010 but had a solid following among collectors before that. I CALLED HASBRO ASKING THEM TO CHANGE THE DESIGN 💀💀
Same, I have an old RUclips channel that I posted all kinds of hate videos on when it happened
That's a bit overdramatic
But the last LPS I ever bought before I said no more from me was one with a huge heavy h
Rubber head that popped off and it was covered in holes that were ment to hold crowns and flowers but without the accessories they just looked god awful.
@@Soma4900 the magnet thing was bc kids ate them
That's exactly around the time I stopped collecting.
I hated the new design. Especially the eyes. They looked all crystallised and frozen.
If you actually look at the new LPS you can see they went back in time with the design.
Eventhough the new LPS aren't the old ones I used to play with I really appreciate the 2021 designs. They're really cute and they listened to the fans wishes about wanting the old LPS back.
the new new ones are adorable and i stand by that, the old 2014-2019 ones are horrendous tho

Personally, I had more issues with the quality than the design- the heads pop off way too easily and the rubber is kinda bad, especially at the area where it joints with the head. I doubt they have changed that, but hopefully that will be addressed some day

The most heartbreaking moment of my childhood was asking for a bunch of Littlest Petshop toys on my 6th birthday so I could be just like my friend, only for her to give hers to me because she had "grown out of it" (she was at most seven). That was crushing.

@ghost I still have that drawing saved :0
I’m surprised LPStube wasn’t mentioned in the video. There’s several RUclips channels that would use the toys to tell stories and make series. The decline in toy sales might have been linked to this community of content creators because they used the LPS toys that came out before the 2012 show. The show changed the style of the toys which most people inside and outside LPStube didn’t like (mostly because it didn’t match the older style). This led to less people buying the toys. The LPS’ fan base (from my understanding) was more about what people did with the toys (making videos, creating custom designs, etc) rather than focusing on the show.
Yeah, I was really upset that there was no mention of it. Lps Popular episodes have over 1 million views!

The original doll i the 70’s had a huge head due to the head containing different eyes. She had a pull cord that would change the eye color. Since she was the height of a Barbie doll, her head had to be big to hold them.

@Katie Lewis Ok?
@Katie Lewis some people do grow up but still keep their toys, like Littlest Pet Shop for nostalgia.

I actually watched LPS 2012, it's my favorite series.
i didn't actually get into LPS until i finally started watching the series (my brony friend liked it,so i decided to check it out. ironically, that same brony ended up kinda hating MLP after a while because they made a harmless fat joke) and i was pretty into it (though i got to the party a little late so it was already pretty much over at the point) and even started a small collection of pets.
@@JT5555 I saw LPS on Tubi TV.
YEAH IT WAS PRETTY GOOD
@@kyslighthearted9101 I have a drawing of minka on my channel.
I did too!
Yeah, I vaguely remember the ads for "Blythe Loves Littlest Pet Shop"
to be honest this whole thing makes me sad and angry because I remember when they first changed the whole look of the LPS and even 9 year olds called hasbro to change the lps back because I don’t understand why they changed it at that time Lps was popular as heck I blame hasbro for the downfall of LPS because WE ALL TOLD THEM WHAT WE LIKE!! they really didnt care about their Lps fans. Now that happened. :)
i wish whittany biskit and brittany biskit was nice and good instead of naughty and evil
i really miss the 2012 show, it shouldn't have ended the way it did
I wish there was a season 5. 💗
They were making a season five than hasbro pulled the plug on the show to you sales.:(
@@God_loves_us_so i know, the show was doing so well too
Blythe is based on another franchise. Look up Blythe dolls. They were a Kenner toy from the 1970’s, and their eyes could change color. This was actually a pretty brilliant way to bring back an old toy line that had been largely forgotten except by avid fans of the dolls.
Wait really?
That's actually kinda smart-
they are horrifying holy shit 😰 no wonder it was forgotten lol
Wait, they are related? Wow:0
yep! blythe dolls are really big collector's items, i've heard
I am sad that the toys that gave childhood to millions of people from all over the world may soon simply disappear, back in 2017 everyone was happy that the new generation of lps was very similar to the old collection, everyone knew that Hasbro's goal is to get as close as possible to the old generation, but five years have passed since 2017, almost nothing has changed, only it has become more difficult to find lps in stores, I think many people just need to come to terms with the fact that something comes and goes, irrevocably, for many years people called and wrote letters to Hasbro with a request to return the old collection, I think they just got tired of it, and they decided to stop doing anything at all. ;(
@@readycat6295 hasbro have taken lps off there website completely
I didn’t even see the 3th and 4th season *damn*
@Katie Lewis
Wait can you explain more? I don’t know why it got cancelled
Yes I agree although I found the new shes a bit boring
I honestly really liked the LPS 2012. It sucks that it had to end without a decent conclusion or a longer life ya know?
" *my theory about my relatives is that they're very confused about me being gender-non-conforming* "
I'm gagging king/queen, same 😅😅😅
Edit: I tried monarch n it didnt hit right, i personally am a they/him NB person who goes by queen when making this style of joke about myself, so I put both options in a choose-your-own adventure style for them.

pssst, hey you
non gender conforming is when one is neither female nor male, both, all, or changes with time!
and they also have a non-binary sticker on their mic! that means they might use they/them pronouns, so i suggest adddressing them with they/them until it's confirmed what their pronouns are ;3
Story time: So I some how managed to get my transphobic father to buy me a chest binder. It's been about two years since I've owned it, and he keeps asking me why I still have it. I'm also starting to run out of good excuses. So all and all, I'm royally fucked. 😃👍🏾
@@acupoflaxatives9155 their pronouns are in his description for some other videos !! it says (and i quote) "they/she/he pick your poison" i'd check again tho since they could have changed their pronouns
wait i might have gotten the order wrong oh well
the LPS 2012 show was my childhood, and seeing it again brought a year to my eye :0
Yoo wander over yonder !!!!!!!
That’s a lot of shows
MA Larson is a very nostalgic name.
@@user-dl3vn8ze9n Though he used his regular name (Mitchell Larson, or sometimes Mitch Larson) for the series.

I wish I had collected more LPS figures when I was younger
Those little things make great little decorations
I want them everywhere in my room
Saaame! I still hope for someday getting hundreds of those - it's my childhood dream
Brittany and Whittany are REALLY family friendly version of Scanty and Kneesocks from paswg
*YOU CANNOT CHANGE MY MIND*
Yes!!! Someone said it!!!!
Hasbro: *updates it’s toy lines to appeal to current children*
Me, a toy collector in my 20s: And I took that personally
GOD I miss the LPS online game so much! I recall their were two sites, I think? There was LPSO, which slapped severely and was amazing, and then there was the OTHER one that I can’t recall the name of because it has like, nothing to do. Yet I still played both obsessively (along with Buildabearville) god those were the days
i think you are talking about LPS vip

Before the cartoon or amino came out, the fandom was mainly on Instagram and youtube
Also as someone who makes custom LPS, it makes me really happy to see them be mentioned, even if it's something completely separate from the fandom of the cartoon or LPStube :)
Yeah um... idk really know what to do with my 5,000 LPS collection up in my attic that I haven’t touched in like 7 years 💀💀 the amount of money I spent on LPS is crazy 😂
The old lps pets sell for pretty good money to collectors!
you could always ship a few over to me.>;3
Do you plan on selling them ? Cause I'd be veryyy interested aha
u can probably make Very good money off of them
Wow that's a lot.
I remember I had a phase where I wanted every LPS in the world, I thought it would last forever though.
The footage of the 2005 commercials: * slaps me in the face with nostalgia *
Me: Thank you, boo ❤️
14:25 I had *NO IDEA* this show existed!!! It looks so cute and it reminds me so much of the LPS DS games!!!!
if they just make the old lps models and sale them like they used too i think a lot of collecters would buy them and they woukd make bank (especially if they make new models in the old lps style)😳
I just realize Blythe is named after the Blythe doll and she LOOKS like a Blythe omg
To be fair to blithe and/or her writers, "TTFN" didn't start out as text talk. "TTYL" is the more common version, meaning "talk to you later". I can't hear "TTFN" without my brain completing, in Tigger's voice, "ta ta for now!"
I remember them existing in ads once but then they all dissapeared... I guess a 7 yr old's memory isn't that strong
The nostalgia just hit me so hard
I never had the opportunity to finish the Littlest Pet Shop show so when it was revealed that Roger actually knew Blythe could understand animals in this video I was genuinely surprised
THE WHAT
tbf fluttershy relearning the same lesson is also just a writing issue, in later seasons she doesn't have to deal with that at all
“my theory about my relatives is that they are very confused about me being gender non-conforming”

omg lps give me such a sense of nostalgia. i only have a few handfuls of them but they’re everything to me and i keep them in a safe place :]
LPS RUclips was SUCH a culture back in the day so I’m mind blown that its not anymore
So, you two are the Yin and Yang of LPS.
@@Notfallkaramell 😆 Most likely.

I remember watching the LPS show and loving it! Also loved the different hairstyles and fashion Blythe had, the show had really great style! 😂
Extra stuff you don't need to read, just me crying about how much I miss lps lmao
LPS WAS LEGITIMATELY THE BIGGEST PART OF MY CHILDHOOD, NOT EVEN JOKING...
