    Ok two important things for anyone needing this video:
    * One, you are supposed to extract the bottom bracket, insert the sensor on it, and then close it again, so it stays in place. There is no need to use glue or anything like that.
    * Two: You never have to cut anything. If you don't have enough space to fit the sensor, it means you need a bigger bottom bracket. They are very cheap, you can get one for 15 bucks.

      Where do you get BBs with longer crank spindles?

    • @Zeioth
      @Zeioth Год назад +1

      @@Airbender24B Amazon or aliexpress. Don't be afraid about ordering a big one: The radious is the same for all of them. Only the legth of the square part where the pedalier fits change.
      80 * 142mm was too narrow for me: The sensor didn't fit.
      100x177L did the trick and it is actually more comfortable to pedal.
      Also using a big one, prevent the pedals from touching the frame.

    I bought a conversion kit several years ago but it jus had a throttle. Does this do away with the throttle and foes this plug into where the throttle was plugged into on the controller?

    This video is how not to install a PAS. No glue is needed. he needed to remove the threaded ring, you can see the notches in it on the video. You can remove it with a tool for doing so or use a hammer and flat screwdriver. once removed you install the PAS then reinstall the threaded ring then slip on the ring that has the magnets. Then reinstall the crank.

    I found your KT LCD programming video incredibly helpful. And concise. However, I'm now trying to match my PAS to the PAS wiring on a 35a KT controller and I'm not sure what each wire does from it. It's the one with the yellow, brown and red wires. Do you know what each one is?

    • @ElectricBikeLaboratory
      @ElectricBikeLaboratory  3 месяца назад

      That's a combination I haven't seen in a while. I believe red is 5V , brown is ground and yellow is signal but you may have to try a couple combinations
      Here's a pretty good link discussing this topic

    Is it possible to remove less material from the crank arm?

    • @flosa1995
      @flosa1995 Год назад +1

      I didnt remove any material and it worked fine, can say that you should not use silicone or hot glue for the pas sensor mounting
      PAS sensor got loose with both

      @@flosa1995 I've just completed my second bike. I guess each bike is a little different. I only had to shave the first bike's arm for clearance and the second one needed about 4mm removed from the inside to fit the pas sensor

    How do you fit one of these to a shimano style bottom bracket with no outer ring?

    • @ElectricBikeLaboratory
      @ElectricBikeLaboratory  Год назад

      You need a PAS that is intended for "External BB" , it is a ring that snaps to the chainring bolts, and a sensor that mounts on the right side

    • @sneezyferret6482
      @sneezyferret6482 Год назад +1

      Hi, I solved this by glueing the sensor ring to the bb frame with industrial strength epoxy resin.
      I glued it to the left side since having these on the chainring side is a big no-no. My chain came off and broke the magnet disc which happened twice already.
      I had to use this style of pas because it was the only one with compatible wiring and connectors...there seems to be no univeral standard for pas :(

    • @sneezyferret6482
      @sneezyferret6482 Год назад +2

      To add to this, after the disc magnet broke the first time, (it looks like it's made from cheap quality plastic that goes brittle easily) I was still having problems with the chain slipping or coming off at the front chain ring, or when back pedalling. I went over the chain very carefully and found fragments of magnet embedded in the chain. I guess this was the likely cause of it slipping off and leading to breaking the second disc magnet, so this is why I switched over from the factory instal to the left hand side. It's just asking for trouble having it on the right side.

    Everyone’s doing these demos on the old square taper design which these sensor rings fit onto lol. They’re useless on any modern bike, in most cases you need the type which locks onto the inside of the spider on the drive side.
