I don’t even begin to understand how there are so many spectacular homes in Australia. I’m always surprised and delighted when you find and magically capture a new one. Well done! Incredible renovation!
I thought about that too… And since Australia is a very small country they’re about I don’t know 25 million people and there’s plenty of space I presume people really cherish their homes and they hire architects more readily than the mass produced home it’s in the United States many people called “architecture” which is far from the truth
Hey guys, Aussie here who lives in Melbourne. We have so many beautiful homes. We also have mass produced homes in housing estates. There's also terribly rundown homes and poorer areas. We have it all here. But yes, we do have a LOT of beautiful homes and great design.
I live in the south east suburbs of Melbourne and I'm equally stunned. These masterpieces are hidden in plain sight. You'd never even know this was here if you walked past it.
This might be my very favorite house of those I've seen in this series. Besides the wonderful garden court, what I like is that its minimalism isn't cold, but tranquil and inviting. The wine cellar and bar is a luxe element I could do without, but it's beautifully designed.
I absolutely agree. A lot of the other homes rely on concrete for minimalism, while claiming "sustainability" and connectivity to nature (laughable). This, however, is truly great and lives up to its claims.
There are so many unique and creative aspects of this home. With its curves and textures, it depicts beauty and grace. The courtyard was an added bonus. It created peace and tranquility. I can only imagine the amount of gratitude that the homeowner must feel on a day to day basis. It's certainly a job well done!
Spending my twenties crashing with friends renting dark & dingy terrace houses ... how inspiring to see them being re-imagined so elegantly yet also warm and homey. Refreshing to see money and style co-existing; finally!
Truly warm, textural and inviting. I loved everything about this house - the glass bridge, the skylights, the courtyards, the retreat, …. the list goes on and on.
All I can say is just "WOW". I love those courtyards, a tranquil space for yourself in the middle of a city. This is a very beautiful project! Soft touches, nothing screams at you, truly a place to unwind and relax.
This architectural home is next level! What stands out for this home is the high level glass aisle. Really love the combination of the old & new designs. Thsnks Local Project
Wow! This home is awesome! The contrast between old and new, the glass bridge, the central court yard, the layout and integration of outdoor/indoor experience... the build materials. It is just amazing. And I guess, not cheap! Lovely spot and it inspires me to expand my thinking about the spot where I live.. 🙂
This is my dream home, I mean literally, It feels like I manifested the house in this video, its what I've always dreamed of building for my family. insane.
Being interviewed (in my imagination): - Who's your favourite Architect? - The Australian ones, all those featured in The Local Project, specifically this one. Good God, you guys, your skills and creativity are so soo sooo up there 🤩👌🏽✨
It's a beautiful fusion of the traditional home with the renovated addition. The inner courtyard is beautiful and brings light to the central portion of the home as does the elevated walkway. The home seems quite serene. It's really beautiful. I love the continued use of Arches in the addition. The arched hallway in the traditional home is such as striking feature the use of arched windows and doorways in the renovated addition is beautiful. Beautiful home.
Wow! Sublime. How much time, thought, effort and of course money would have been invested into a project like this I wonder... the detail and design is pure art. A joy to watch!
This channel has had some spectacular spaces, but this one is my favorite! The indoor/outdoor approach, the inner courtyard/pond, the clean lines, and the design features--just absolutely stunning.
I love this channel! It is very inspiring and useful, even for a person like me who is not an architect and can't afford any of these homes, because the architects discuss, not only the space, but the philosophy behind each project, which is a great way to tackle any project, big or small. It helps to think outside of the box. Thanks!
Each video is meticulously well planned, narrated and videographed. It is always a pleasure to go through these houses which have a unique vision put into them. I have learnt a lot from you all.
What an incredible home design. Love the fact that it's a heritage house and able to transform into such an amazing work of design. Love the transition between styles...!!! ♥
This house is just amazingly designed and built to incorporate Fitzroy's unique characteristics and reflect Melbourne's modern feel. Which builder executed this artful project so well?
What a gorgeous home! It appears that money was no object in the renovation of this home and the end result is amazing. I love the blend between indoors/outdoors. Well done!
This might be the only architect's video I've ever seen where they did not use the word "space". Maybe not even once? I hear it so often that it's kind of grating and feels impotent in describing anything accurately, but architects in other videos use it every few moments. Play any video and give it a try. It was refreshing to listen to someone not use it for once, and they created an absolutely gorgeous home.
Ooooooh, this is yummy! I love having one or two dark rooms to balance incredible modern but soft light rooms. And the feeling of being outside, yet protected. Checks all the boxes for me! ♥
With my height issues, the glass bridge and walls are beautiful, but freak me out :) The use of wood, and landscaping is spectacular. The automatic door to the cellar and the wood peg wine holders are very cool. Nice segue from the original Victorian to the modern extension. Another winner!
Absolutely stunning design that is both inviting and artistic. I love seeing homes in this neighborhood that are forced to meld the older original street facing parts with modern design. It forces them to come up with such creative combinations of design language.
So strange to hear him say maximizing the northern sun exposure… I am from the other side of the rock and and am so accustomed to people talking about southern sun exposure! :)
This is magical! I go back to this house when I need to feel tranquil or be inspired. Thanks for sharing this!! Your channel deserves so much more. More power and please don’t regress when you do.

I immediately noticed the way they deter predators from the goldfish pond was an underwater grate that the fish can swim through… That’s brilliant!
Whether you go in or out, this home boasts numerous distinctive features, making it exceptionally valuable. 💖💖
I absolutely love that lionfish design wall sculpture
More sustainable houses please, the idea of their design is beautiful.
This is by far one of my favorite house video from you guys
