Definitely one of the more inspiring designed homes at Casurina Beach. This house has a wonderful connecting with the outdoors. The native coastal Banksias trees and the house’s central courtyard really make this home, as does its connection with the street. l have walked pass this house a number of times and it looks fantastic.😊
This architect is so relaxing to listen to. Usually you hear architects spout such wank about the uniqueness of the house and then show a house that’s been done a thousand times before. This house is actually unique.
The great thing about your country is that the beach is really untouched, well preserved and devoid of buildings and housing.. Compared to our country where they build houses everywhere that affects the beauty of the beach.
I would personally despise living in this house. But I realise that for a lot of people this would be an amazing home, and the clients needs have been clearly assesed very efficeintly and beautifuly. So this is great architecture.
My sentiments exactly. I would hate the lack of privacy from passers-by, and concrete block internal walls always remind me of budget motels. But if the house makes the clients happy then the architect has done his job.
The idea of being able to transform the spaces by just sliding doors is my favourite feature. The materials, textures, colour scheme are so honest and simple but exquisite and elegant. Well done.
The extensive use of sliding wooden slotted screens stands out in the design. Coupled with glazing, it brings an updated East Asian inside/outside style to the building. And it blends well with slotted fence.👍 Great execution.
I personally love Watching this, it's always gives me motivation. I'm always thought my self too live that status of life. Btw I'm from Philippines dreaming 🙂
How can architects keep saying the same things over and over without laughing… all architects in my area say the same thing: “this house is about connecting with nature” “the front interfaces with the street to create a communal feeling with neighbors” “the design tells a story related to (insert bespoke local feature)”… not saying I don’t like these things just saying that is must be hard to BS so much about the same thing over and over. I wish they would say the truth sometimes too “I made these ceilings way high and made this kitchen way too big to satisfy the owners ego wanting to have a big ass house that makes him feel more successful”
I do wish architects would incorporate fly screens into their house designs. There are a number of innovative fly screens that look really good and can disappear into the wall cavity when not in use. Living in this house without screens in this location would definitely be problematic. Mosquitoes in Northern NSW are a real concern, due to it being a subtropical climate. Ross River Fever and Dengue virus are a real problem in this area and is spread by mosquitoes.
At the beginning I was like: not that many windows, how about the insects. But then: oh... this is Australia, insects are so big o they can't squish through that fence door :D

The design of this house seems like a blend of Japanese and mid-century modern. It's unexpected yet it works well.
One of my favourite homes I have seen on youtube. Everything about this home is magical.
That element of the 'tide line' was brilliant, even the subtle colour shift reminded me of the beach. Such a beautiful house.
Lovely house! It's also nice to see an Aussie beach that hasn't been built up and jam packed with houses on the water line. Very peaceful

"spout such wank" haha I love that I'm going to use that 😂
Agree the restrained wank talk was refreshing, too much nonsense wank talk infiltrates architecture/building design videos.
That is a very elegant and humanistic design; a really difficult balance to strike. Well done!

Absolutely agree, yet so many Australians don't appreciate this. There is a real sence that the beach belongs to everyone (I am Australian).
andrew forsyth is skilled ... beautiful, practical and deep thought into why each element is what it is ... lucky clients
Stunning. The best home I have seen for a long time!
serene and beautiful...absolutely.
Absolutely stunning! This is an example of what architecture can do and be.
Love that the entire community is connected but also didn't touch the nature closer to the beach.
No building directly on the sand. Kudos!
just watching this house gave me huge positive vibes...love everything about it :)

집 멋있다 ❤
nice ❤❤❤
that tiles 🤤
how much budget for this amazing residence ?
No one talks about "compression" anymore since Wright ran with that concept. 100 years ago. Most ceiling heights are made to "impress" now days.
Nice house
Однозначно 😎👍

The concrete elements are regretful (for me, at least), but the house as a whole is phenomenal.
What is that jazzy bird @4:55?

beautiful, but why can no one talk about a house without slow motion uptalk anymore?
