I have been a practioner of Wabi Sabi since the 1950s. I have seen Wabi Sabi coexist with Knoll and Herman Miller to today. It is an interesting evolution. Almost any example of a fine quality piece of furniture or design element can also today, coexist with the basic tenets of this style and discipline. I fully understand how our western experience struggles with it as a style. But your video hits a new high. I hope many designers and people who just appreciate good design will stumble upon this video. Thanx for putting together such an invaluable experience

Stunning ! I has a certain stillness that is very peaceful. I love the harmony of the color scheme. The flowing lines of the furniture and the pottery. I LOVE the paintings ! It transports me to another more perfect world.
I love the Wabi Sabi design elements incorporated into the modern architecture as long as it's not overpowering but kept simple and uncluttered. It really adds warmth and flow to the home. It's a more natural approach and creates a connection between the indoors and the outdoors for those who like that kind of balance. Some of these designs were very well done while others were a bit much.
I love the style. The Japanese aesthetic is very beautiful in so many applications. It speaks to the heart and soul. Just watching the video instills a sense of mindfulness and peace because the content draws so much on natural elements. Lovely!

yes, these pictures are very, very beautiful! but it's not wabi sabi!! wabi sabi is simple, grown up by time, naturally aged! but almost all these pictures show a very expensiv and luxary design! it's a style like wabi sabi!!

They could definitely have the elements, art, furniture pieces etc that are representative of true Wabi Sabi. The idea is to inspire people so of course they show the most beautiful rooms, but the elements within those rooms can be used in many homes. It would definitely be fun though to see a "normal" scope home in this style. There are a few channels that do this well already. ☺️

You misunderstood. These homes create a mix vibe of wabi sabi and modern aesthetic. True wabi sabi may be a bit “too dark/ old” for many people. Some mixing modern design help to lighten up the living space.
Beautiful designs and colors but also cold and unwelcoming with only a few pieces of furniture that look like you could actually use them and be comfortable. The rooms toward the end looked a little more user friendly. I liked the bedrooms the most. Enjoyed the video, thank you.

Unlike the previous replies, I entirely agree with you. My understanding of Wabisabi is the natural ageing of ‘things’. This includes all those little dings and dents that ‘things’ that surround us and that we use throughout their life collect, known as ‘patina’ here in the UK, and give character to them, are what the Japanese call Wabisabi. This collection of images, beautiful as as they may be, are not a true representation of WabiSabi. 😎

There are alot of gorgeous highly dramatic organic shapes and sizes but Wabi Sabi?? I dont see it, I see Rustic/organic Modern, too much perfection and symmetry in each piece, I do love the play in space and light.

C’est beau et ça reste froid; qui pourrait s’asseoir confortablement sur des sièges rigides et passer un moment convivial autour d’un repas dans ces conditions? Un déploiement de poteries, sans doute vides, inutiles , alors que ce sont les objets du quotidiens, les utilitaires , les vrais qui font que leur usage sur des générations leur confèrent le « Wabi-Shabi »authentique., de part leur matière noble et brute de leur origine.
De très belles images, hypnotiques, irréelles comme un beau catalogue ; des maisons modèles pour des castes au dessus de la moyenne…pour un monde parfait au dessus des contingences d’un dérèglement climatique. Évidemment que c’est beau ; pourquoi ça m’angoisse de me sentir anesthésiée par ce spectacle, finalement…

改めて自分の考える『侘び寂び』とは.｡oO🤔
古典的な考えとして…
とても質素でミニマルな姿勢で、格式を下げて、まさに「不完全な美」を慈しむ態度にあります(⁎ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈⁎)
「不完全な美」とは格式高く完全に整ったモノでは無く、
欠け、傷、無骨、錆び…共通するのは不完全です。
そこから滲み出る時間の経過などの営みを感じ、物が持つ様々な物語を、深い慈愛を感じる事と理解しています.｡oO
現代に於いて古典的な"表面的"「侘び寂び(wabisabi)」は失われつつありますが、
日本人にとっておそらく侘び寂びの精神は根本に染み付いていて、
例えば…日本人でも「シンメトリー」な感覚は基本でありとても美しく落ち着きを感じるのですが😅
どうしてもシンメトリーを崩す事にも落ち着きを感じ「ズレ」を求める傾向にあります•*¨*•.¸¸🌈✨
【wabi】とは「ズレ」や「不完全」であり、
【sabi】とは「滅び行く様を慈しむ美学」と考えています。
以上の『侘び寂び(wabisabi)感覚』を持ちながら動画を拝見させて頂きました•*¨*•.¸¸♬︎
個人的で自分なりに四半世紀考え続けた"現時点"で思うwabisabi感で、
日本人全てが同じ感覚かどうかは分かりません.｡oஇ
