    Such a comforting space. Often difficult to achieve with modern spaces. But the interior designer did a phenomenal job of softening the hard materials by repeating the theme of curve furnishings. I think i would replace the blue chair in the foyer with a piano or sculpture. Something that reflects the owner’s personality.

    I love the "stained-glass entrance" of this home. Plus, the trees make it more natural! Really beautiful! Thanks Local Project

    When money is no object. The lot alone, surrounded by apartment buildings, is probably zoned for multi units. It was used to build a single family home and must have cost millions.

    What a great review of a very beautiful house.
    The atmosphere of the house and details are conveyed. It was as if I was present in this house myself. Thank you Local Project, I criticized you, but now I praise you.

    It's clearly well put together and has a lot of bespoke elements but lacks an identity and comes across as more of a display home showcasing what (a lot) of money can buy - very much in contrast to the other more cohesive projects featured in the 10 book at the end of the video.

      Bit boring. Seems like the emphasis was on materials and textures but I did not get a good sense of space or flow. Tessellated windows with randomly clear or opaque panes are a good example. An example of Texture with no clear purpose and no real focal point or emphasis. Busily boring.

      They are two different words, and not interchangeable. Also, the word 'materiality' is not unique to architecture: in law and finance, for example, it means 'significance' (roughly).

    Someone had a lot of money 💰💰💰💰 to spend 😂. I am impressed, but there are definitely things that are not my taste, the steps are the bathtub are very 80's and so is the black freestanding fireplace. The entrance is fabulous 🤩

    • @RussSchoonmaker
      @RussSchoonmaker 3 месяца назад +1

      Yes, the fireplace does seem to be a bit of an afterthought. But it does, serve as sculptural form to separate the dining and living spaces.

    My only complaint, is with the monolithic exterior. We see this very often in an attempt to block out the street and maximize the building’s footprint. I just wish the architects would try to present a more interesting facade. So that the average person passing by can better appreciate and enjoy great design.

      If you consider the wall near the street as part of the facade, it becomes more interesting, almost intriguing...
      Plus, there are a lot of trees in the street (avenue) which will block the view anyway...

    I studied Construction Management at UTS … had a great life, started by own company and finally bought a 911 at the age of 28 …. THEN I had the “dream”…i was on a boat cruising towards a man made island of the coast of Mumbai “All the Indian billionaires were building luxury houses and my grand child was designing the Burj al Arab hotel in India. The next morning I sold my 911 for 200,000AUD told my wife if you want we can divorce today split our 16.5million realestate portfolio because like Jesus or Mohammad….I seen the future’ my grandchildren are NOT property developers they are AMAZING DESIGNERS like the “house of PRADA” I am going back to UTS to complete my Architectural Qualifications !!!!!!!!!
