Well i about to go to punta cana in couple month time an i hope there tip help out
Are you still in DR?
Who's this?
The drink game is the culture of mexican bars in texas and Losangeles also. You buy a girl a latina drink to socialize with her and the price of the drink is usually 10 dollars or more higher than the actual price.I learned that going to mexican bars in california.
Hi Me T
Thank you for your comment and I most certainly agree with what you said. I was speaking generally and not about the D.R.
Yo, I'm a dominican, LIVING in the DR and these tips are better than what my mom gave me growing up 😂
Thanks!!
Factsss 😂
😂😂😂
Fr lol
Hahahahaha
Great video!! The DR actor who played many of your characters did great!
Thanks for watching! and I'll pass your compliments onto Carlos :) Brgds, Mr.T
Hello Educated Traveler, I want to thank you for the informative video I’m so glad to have watched it before I travel there because I knew none of these behaviors, take good care of yourself from your new subscriber.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! :-)
The man that "beat you up" and wore the pink wig is hilarious. Dominicans are too cool. Good video man!
Thanks! and for watching - Brgds Mr.T :)
Thanks, great tips , they apply all over the world.
Yes they do. Thanks for watching and commenting :-)
Omg dude you know my country more than me I born there in santiago de Los caballeros a shutout to you and all the tourists love to go on vacations to my beautiful country cheers!!!
Many thanks! and for watching :) Brgds Mr.T
Me too I was born in Santiago de los caballeros

It's obvious Mark is a very intelligent gentleman. The explanation that he gave on how buying a single drink to a lady will most likely lead to a very slippery slope, since it will be seen as an invitation to take advantage of someone's willingness to spend money. Asserting one's boundaries is incredibly important in a third world country, especially when known to be a major hub for sexual tourism. Being blunt and direct, especially when it is an uncomfortable situation, is the only way you go. Further, his delivery was concise and eloquent. I was not expecting such a High quality advice. Great video! 👍
Thanks, Karim! Your comment is appreciated :-)
My friend and I are traveling to the Dominican in August, and honestly most of these tips are common sense lol. I can understand the confusion when it comes to tipping though, because a lot of us in developed or 1st world countries tend to forget that these popular tourist destinations such as Punta Cana fully rely on tourism for their economy, and then right outside the resorts are the ACTUAL locals and their impoverished communities, and they absolutely thrive off of tips and your generosity so please don’t be stingy people.
Precisely, bro. Most of what this goes on about is shit you shouldn't do in ANY country. "Don't look at people in an angry way." If you need to be told not to do this kind of shit, you're probably an asshole in your home country, too. 😂 I've been to Sosua -- I was nice, polite, and I tipped generously. Everybody was super nice right back, and everyone had a great time.
@@DirectionlessStudent I think this can be a culturally distinctive thing because I'm from the United States born and raised and I know for a fact that there are places here in the States that I can go and have a friendly , calm, or resting face, and then there are places where I _need_ to have an angry look on my face so that people don't bother me(friendly people can get "punked" in some urban areas).
Therefore, I have my _suburb_ _face_ , and my _hood_ _face_ . That's something I learned about as a teenager.
So I can understand why he had to explain not looking angry to some tourists/expats.
Sometimes a common thing to do where you come from can be taken the wrong way in a different place.
I also used my _hood_ _face_ on the two occasions that I visited El Salvador with my then husband. I didn't want to walk around with a dopey smile on my face like an obvious outsider. Not saying that I did not smile when smiled at or was not friendly with people who were friendly to me, but I tried to look somewhat unapproachable on purpose.
I'm also speaking from the point of view of a woman so that might make some difference- trying to look tougher than I really am.
This is also known as the resting b**** face. I feel like its been a lifesaver in some situations.
And anyone who knows me knows that I'm the opposite of a a-hole. I'm actually too friendly, which like I said, as a woman can be a liability sometimes.

Feb 23 2023
Been in punta in 2018 asked at the resort for a guide to show the wife and i around
Went to a restaurant had each rice , bean’s , chicken and bottled coke& water all for $14 USA dollars
I passed the waitress $20 told her to keep the change and she teared up
Going back feb 25 , 2023 :)
AT 33:42 I JUST LOVED IT, “EVERYTHING HAS LEGS HERE” SO DOMINICAN.
Thanks! and for watching :) Brgds Mr.T
Update post pandemic, transportation is sky high , sometimes rude and unfriendly taxi drivers , 40 dollar hamburgers, but saying that most of the people are respectable , and friendly
You’re a riot lol you absolutely right With the exchange money. I’m Dominican. American living in Boston You know you stuff I salute you you did your research! It’s a beautiful country
Gracias!! Saludos - Mr.T

Many thanks!! and for watching - Brgds Mr.T :)
Thanks your guidance is much more than just for tourists believe me this sooo important even for us locals thanks again great contribution
Many thanks! and for watching - Brgds, Mr.T
I keep hearing over and over here in the US how young Dominicans are attracted to older foreigners. As a Dominican American, my advice: Don’t be delusional and you will avoid heartache and having to part with your dollars or Euros!
You mean that beautiful young Dominican girls aren't attracted to fat old foreigners? Then why do see so many couples - it wouldn't be about the money would it? LOL!

Hey nice video at the end! Thank you for that
Thanks for watching and commenting! Always appreciate a comment :-)
I was honestly a little skeptical about watching an hour long video of traveling tips for D.R, but I’m glad I endured that intro and watched this video. Full of great info.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and commenting! ;-)
Thank you for sharing that information that's very nice of you letting us know about the country, we definitely appreciate it 😊

Everyone I know who went looking for love ended badly. Self included. This guy is on point 👍👍
Thanks Timothy :) Brgds, Mr. T
Met my ex there a few years ago, she was venezuelan. Only took thousands of dollars, thousands of lies and finally realizing she was a legit narcissist to break free from her.
This is an outstanding video. I have lived in Honduras. I love baseball, and speak good Spanish, and will soon travel to DR. Thanks, Educated Traveler.
Thanks John for watching, and yes, come on down! Brgds Mr.T

As a Dominican (Born in America), these are honestly really interesting. Whenever I visit, I do the opposite of some of these and I end up fine, but shh, we won’t talk about that.
Thanks for watching and Happy travels! Brgds Mr.T
Excellent tips!!
Thanks for your compliment and for watching! Brgds Mr.T
many thx - appreciate it all !!!
Many thanks for watching and commenting! :-)
Thanks for all you put into this video. Finally some concise advice for the person who don't want to stay in the resort or pick up people in clubs! Thanks again!
Thanks Heather - Glad it was helpful! Brgds, Mr.T
10:26 I think the term for that is haggling, not bartering, although, bartering can play into it, especially in such places. Yeah, I had always considered haggling annoying and dishonest, but it's just the way they are, never know what someone will pay.
Another great video. Thanks for all the great tips. Well worth watching.
many thanks, and for watching! Brgds Mr.T
I have been to RD many times and everything you said is true .. I love it there it’s so beautiful 😍
Thank you for your advice
Thanks for watching! Cheers!:-)
Hahaha! I’m Dominican American and this is super accurate 🇩🇴

Thank you for some good tips. My wife & i in ours youngs days went to Jamaica & stayed at a nice hotel. We didn't listen they said "don't deal with the people outside the hotel" So we when out shopping ran into this street hustler. He said he could get us tickets to the dun river falls so we gave him $15.00 for the local taxi. Well, this guy drove us to the location but, the street hustler never paid the driver & ran off with the money that's what the driver said. So now the local taxi driver is pissed & pulls out a machete that son of SOB!
Like you said don't be stupid it's was only $15.00. So I gave the driver the $15.00 didn't want the situation to end badly. A lesson learn.
Fantastic video !! All info given is top notch 👍. Been traveling to DR for 24 yrs and still learning . Really thinking of moving there from PR. Will try to get in touch for Residency info from you.
Thanks Hector!! and if you e-mail me at info@educatedtraveler.info then I will be happy to send you my consulting and services price plan - Brgds Mr.T
Great video!!! This is my favorite one yet 👍🏽👍🏽. I love how you included the chemtrails at the end. People need to wake up to this! Again great job and keep up the great work!! 🤙🏽✌🏾👌🏾
Many thanks for your great compliment and comments, and yes we need to keep awakening folks on the spraying, as I was filming them messing the skies up here again today - not one natural cloud. All the best from Mr.T
bro i love this video, not one dislike! This is very entertaining!
Thanks Michaud - Very happy you enjoyed it! Brgds Mr.T
great video bro. cheers
Many thanks Shay! Brgds Mr.T
Bargain is part of our culture, even in a daily basic out of the tourism world, it is very common to set "higher" price and then offering the "real and lower price" of many stuff: cars, houses, etc
Thank you so much for this valuable information.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video Mr T. I will be in Jarabacoa next Sunday 23-Dec-2018 Happy Holidays !!!!!!
Thanks Pepe!!! and I wish you too Happy Holidays and a great trip to Jarabacoa :) Brgds Mr.T
Man, the drink tip I cant second this enough. I've been drugged before. it was by accident when I finished female friends drink but ever since then I will not leave any drink unattended and if I do I just buy a new one. $3 or so is worth peace of mind.

What a valuable and entertaining video. Thank you for posting. We’re visiting the DR next January and staying at a resort with I believe 6 other couples. I’m interested in perhaps finding a guide to take us around to some interesting areas while we are there. Can you recommend reputable guides? Thank you! I’m thinking about going for Halloween this year. I’ve never been. Are there any tour guides for hire that you know of?
good honest video
Glad you think so! :-)
When Dominicans steal the gas from your motorbike, they leave enough for you to get to a gas station. I have been pick-pocketed in a concho and they threw back my wallet with some money inside. I have even had a guy pull a gun on me but we negotiated how much of the 4kpesos he could take. I got 50%.

LMAO get the fuck out of here LOL That is freaking crazy! This has to be the white experience there. I've been there four times santo domingo and punta cana and I never had an issue. I was with my wife who is Puerto rican, so maybe we blended in.
