That is an awesome key date Rob! I tried some of those recently too and it had buffalo and v nickels, mercury and barber dimes, Indian heads, BU wheaties and a 1917 P. Unfortunately the rest were all 40s and 50s wheaties but still pretty good!

I had bought one lot from the same seller a few months back. However, one of my rolls contained some 50s coins. I messaged the seller and he offered to send two more rolls to me, so I essentially got two lots for the price of one. My best find wasnt quite as good as your 1931 s, mine being a 1915 d, but I do have a 1931 s that I won on ebay for about $60 in similar condition.

Hi Rob, I'm working late and streaming whatever RUclips videos come on and this one popped up. My son was a grocery store checker and collected the wheat back pennies for me. I have them here at work, but never went through them in detail, so I just now got them out and looked at them. Guess what I found? a 1931S penny! At first, I wasn't sure of the "S" because there was so much gunk on the penny. I know not to clean it, as any abrasion will damage it. So, I put it in some mild taco sauce for a few minutes and rinsed it off. The date and the "S" are clearly there. It looks to be in real good shape. I can clearly see the wheat strand details on the back, no scratches, and very minor wear on Lincoln's face. It looks like it must have been a part of someone's collection at one time.

I'm stunned that you didn't get 150 1952-1958 super common dates. You did very well.

That's awesome. I was reading some of the other comments and I saw a couple people say to check if it's real? That's scary that a hundred dollar penny could be a fake. I would have never thought of that. Hope it's real and thanks for sharing your hunt and finds. Take care and Merry Christmas.

I would try Amazon rolls. They might have lower price per roll and maybe a better chance because of Amazon's selling policies

The 1931S in the same condition as yours goes for around $135.00 on eBay so you got a sweet deal! You basically got the penny for a good deal plus lots of great wheats!

A lot of 1931 s were saved because of low mintage. That's awesome that u found one!

@@RobFindsTreasure you don't need to grade it Rob. Put it in a 2x2 and put a $100.00 price tag on it.
Even with the ones that are in bad shape, you also have some copper too. Maybe not a lot, but a little.

Food for thought on these penny rolls: I feel like they operate like any other form of gambling.
The way a casino operates its slot machines is to set them to a certain average payback percentage, for example 90 percent. this means that on average, for every dollar someone puts into the machine they can expect 90 cents back. That doesn't mean that everyone will lose every night: there will statistically be some big winners, more big losers, even a lucky few who consistently turn a profit... but over the course of days months and years, the house will pull in money from that machine. The house always wins in the long run.
What does this have to do with these pennies? Well, if I were to set up a penny roll selling business on ebay, I would structure it similarly to the slot machine. I would first get the approximate value of all the coins I'm giving away (making sure to have a few "jackpots", tack on a percentage, then divide the total value plus my percentage by the number of rolls I can make from the lot. Some people will get super valuable coins, more won't. At the end of the day I win.
If this is how it works, how is this different from going to a casino and playing slots?
I guess it's slightly better, because collectible coins generally go up in value over time... but then you could just buy those coins outright and sit on them and be better off in the long run.

I’m just starting out as a coin collector. So Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the 1945 plain the 3rd lowest mintage at 1,040,000?
There were actually 1 billion of the 1945 plains minted.

Update got 2 rolls today with IHP Enders. Opened them got 8 IHP oldest was 1881 and 8 steel pennies. Oldest wheat was 1911.
I'd be afraid of that coin. I'd want it authenticated before selling it. Too many fakes planted in these wheat lots.

I did my first box of pennies they were all bank wrapped in the bank sealed box I started searching and after a couple roles I realize I haven't even found a copper coin after the whole box I found 1 copper penny, I just wana ask if some banks might have there own rollers or am I just the unluckiest coin hunter in the world?

@@RobFindsTreasure This is 2022 and these bank boxes are now more a risk, being think about this if one person has "dump banks" how do you know your bank is not somebody's dump with so many now on utube and dumping all over, well I get some bank boxes in my area, and off ebay, and I have never come across so many "parking lot coins" even newer coin are filthy and coin star wont even take them, with new crimp machine and web site penny boxes odds are all been search and re crimped and boxes up with tape no banker stamp for area or anything it is now a shysters market
