The thing about Leica is, their kit lens is no entry level lens. They don't have low quality low performance lenses. Just different rendering and some are sharp performance focused while some is the rendering that's great.
Good point you're making here. And although a lot of people think of the APS-C L-mount lenses as not worthy the Leica badge, I am positively surprised by their performance.
Great video! For the Leica lens hood, can it be reversed and stored on the lens? Or it can only be mounted for use and cannot be stored on the lens? I’ve recently bought a TL2 (they’re almost half off price new!) and still learning about the camera/lenses.
Thank you! The hood can be mounted on the lens in reverse position. Congrats on TL2 - for zoom lens look at the new Sigma 18-50/2.8 as well - slightly longer but that's about the only downside vs the Leica 18-56 lens.
@@PetrGardianTV thank you for the reply! It’s nice to know the hood can be reverse mounted to keep on the lens for storage, it seems really strong to put on there and so I didn’t push it too much. Maybe I’ll just leave it off and not worry about it. Thank you for the lens suggestion, as well.
@@Deetroiter You're welcome, glad I could help! I generally don't care for lens hoods unless I want to protect the lens from accidental bumps (when hiking or moving a lot). You have a nice kit now, enjoy the Leica colours! :)
@@PetrGardianTV thank you so much for the information! One last question I have is do you know how to manually focus the Leica TL lenses on the TL2, etc? I don’t see a manual button on the body and when I turn manual mode on inside the camera, it still seems a little stiff to turn the lens focus on the barrel. Can I know your method on how to use manual focus mode please? I’m curious if these lenses have manual overide also, that even in AF mode you can just manually focus
@@Deetroiter For manual focus with AF TL lens just half-press the camera shutter button and turn the lens focusing ring. You should immediately see focus peaking showing you what's in focus. The focusing ring can be a bit stiff on a new(ish) lens.
hello petr! amazing video, i alberto, the guy who sold you the leica tl ! :)
Hey Alberto, thank you! It's a nice camera :)

For vacation/holiday travel, I use the Leica M rangefinder with 21/35/90mm prime lenses or the Fuji X mirrorless with a 16-55mm f/2.8 zoom lens.
Something for everything - nice combo!
Good comparison. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video. Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Hey Peter… did you ever get to test the 18-50mm sigma as mentioned…?
Hi, I have it, I'm using it and will make the video soon.

Fuji 18-55 is fantastic!!!
I agree :)
You should have stopped the Fuji down to f11 there is a jump in quality at f11
What lens is not good at f11?
