The Best Fujifilm Lens You Will Not Buy
My x10 is a gem
I like this too! Apart from sticky shutter, capacitor corrosion is another common issue and i have one unit still sit with technician to have that fixed.
Hi hi is there any way I can use the wide angle lens for GRIIIx?
Yes, I talk about it in the video. Use the GA-2 adapter to mount the GW-4. It will convert the GR IIIx to 30mm lens perspective.
I recently bought the zfc used almost new for 400€ incl. the grip from Japan. My first mirrorless. I don't need a mirrorless, but for this price, I can make more money of it if sell this camera a little later. I'm a nikon APS-C shooter with some lenses who works with the FTZ adapter on this retro camera. I like the retro style, but prefer the handling of the modern DSLR styles. Retro was not my buying choice. My buying choice and the reason, why I write this comment was, that in the last 12 month the selection of lenses are doubled or tripled. I'm more a zoom user, but maybe I going more to the prime route and now this zfc is a great entry into the mirrorless world. One or two years ago, it wasn't for the enthusiast or semi Pro level photographer cause the lens selection. But now it's the ideal time to give this camera a chance. And by the way, it doesn't feel plasticy in my hands. It came in a cold day, and I feel almost all the magnesium alloy metal, most of the surface feels cold, only the battery door is really plasticy. If someone get one for maybe 600€ used, I would say, it's a good choice compared to the rivals. Of course, many more expensive cameras are better choice, but if you wouldn't want to spend so much money, this is now the time for this camera. Better than the Z50 in some ways. And with the new Z50II, more lenses are on the way.
Thank you for sharing. Nikon Zfc is a very underrated camera. It has larger EVF with longer eye relief than more expensive cameras from Fujifilm and there are finally a good selection of lenses. And more are coming.
@PetrGardianTV yeah, this is important for first time mirrorless user. To have a good experience with a decent EVF. Why I'm choosing the zfc, besides the very good price and cause I have several F mount lenses: 1. I wanted LCD screens to take portrait mode shootings at the floor position. Without to lay in the mud. (like with my D7200) That could only flippy screens, or expensive screens like that of the Z8/9, Lumix S1, some Fuji. 2. I wanted 4k without crop. The Zfc Videos are very pleasing, bitrate 110 MB something. 3. Eye/face detect AF for fast kiddies, street. With the firmware updates the last years, the zfc becomes very good upgrades. Not Expeed 7 like, but like the second generation Nikon mirrorless. 4. Silent (electronic) shutter. 5. Web cam capability out of the box. 6. I could load the battery via USB cable and powerbank on the fly. 7. And some other reasons, because this camera was on my radar. If I could get a fuji xt-4 or even xt 3 for 5/600 Euros, maybe I tend to fuji for my first mirrorless, but a) used fuji are too expensive and b) recently I saw the very bad AF with face eye tracking in this system, and the firmware couldn't fix this in one year error searching. At the channel from edvard.
the weirdest camera body with sharp edges terrible only the Leica Lx1 -2 are worse but at least they look like cameras!
Very good and informative video.
I have an x30 camera.
I don’t see any reason to buy a fixed lens camera that is also big and heavy. A leaf shutter is great, but slow. So you might need the hassle of ND filters in bright light.
I think this is the only video I've ever seen on the Hexar AF. Very nice. In the early 1990s, there were three "high end" small, automatic film cameras for general use: the Nikon 35Ti, Contax T2, and the Konica Hexar AF. The Nikon and Contax were far more popular, and remain so today. Their distinction from the Hexar AF are that they are somewhat smaller and lighter, and when turned off, they self-seal (lens retracts) into a semi-pocketable package. They are just the higher quality versions of dozens of point-n-shoot cameras of the day, which came and went, so to speak. The Hexar AF is more like an automatic upgrade of the high quality compact, manual RF cameras of the 1970s and 80s, like the Canon QL17 or Olympus RD. The former best suited to high quality snapshots; the Hexar AF more suited to serious photography. The relative attributes of the Hexar AF are better ergonomics, more useful features, and a lens which is very noticeably superior in every way to those of the Nikon or Contax: sharper, better contrast, and a full stop faster at 2.0. (There was one of those pesky test comparisons published in Modern Photography back in the day which displayed those differences.) What prevented the Hexar AF from dominating the others was (1) not pocketable, no lens retraction when off, and (2) a relatively slow 1/250 shutter speed. The Hexar AF is not for a user who wants to push HP-5 to 1600, but then such user is indifferent to the image quality advantages of the Hexar anyway. Fun techo fact: As lenses autofocus and then stop down to shooting aperture, the focus point in most cameras shifts slightly, going a tad out of focus. The Hexar AF rechecks the focus point after stop-down to adjust for that shift. (Am I biased here? Well, I chose the Contax T2 back in the day when I didn't know any better, so my bias is "regret".)
I saw someone on Reddit say that by using the APSC lens you drop down to 10 megapixels on the 18mm. Is that true? Also, did you test out the video with these lenses? Could the 18mm be used for vlogging even with the 1.5 crop? Thanks!
Yes, 10Mpx is correct. APS-C lenses cover smaller part of the FF sensor and this cuts down the resolution. The 18 mm lens will look like 28 mm on full frame. The S9 automatically crops the image with these lenses regardless if you shoot photo or video. I haven’t tested the Leica lenses for video but they should work and the S9 should produce 4K recordings even with the crop sensor lenses. I will post an update if I get to use it again.
@@PetrGardianTV Ok thank you! This video was so helpful
This Camera introduce me to photography is so fun to shoot
It’s awesome.
I started with a Konica C35 EF from the late 70s and the Hexanon lens on it is truly impressive. It's not a true rangefinder, it's a simple zone focus/auto-exposure type, but even with a couple photos being out of focus per roll I can't throw any shade at the lens. My shots look about the same as yours in terms of sharpness and detail so I was really happy with it. It was a pretty great (and CHEAP!) first film camera, and from what I hear the whole C35 range is great and really reasonable on ebay.
My most consistent camera. Fast and super sharp
Cool camera! Very informative and to the point! Nicely done!
A great camera , beautiful lens, bright viewfinder, fast AF . However i would not recommend try to access the silent mode bcz it might just brick your camera.
How to unbrick if done that?
@@AlyoshaKm you can't (maybe) it might malfunction
@@AlyoshaKm it only hidden in the silver model btw
I never knew this camera can be used with leica lenses 😅. It is a whole new world to me. Thank you.
Happy to help!
I love my X30 - it's the one camera I will never let go of.
The XF 23/2 is extremly soft for close distances wide open. The X100V and x100VI-s lens is much better in that regard.
Hello, thanks for sharing you wishes. By my side, I would add my YES and NO to them, for the case Ricoh guys see this video: Nothing that add more volume. (No bigger battery for example) Yes to weather sealed but only if no bigger camera. Yes to flip-up LCD but no need all the way. Please don't make another vlogging camera) Yes to better autofocus, of course. NO more video capabilities!! Remove any video capability if necessary. Don't make another vlogging camera please ! I don't mind options, like visor, filters adapters, or whatever but only if I can keep the camera small if I don't use it. If I want something like a Fujifilm XM5, I can have a one already. Thanks ;-)
Your knowledge share is amazing. Pls keep them coming. I have Ricoh GR III
Thanks, will do!
s9 witht he Sigma 45mm 2.8 at lens is. perfect setup!
And the Sigma 24/3.5 and 17/4. All we need is Sigma 35/2.8 (the F2 version is a tad too big) 😀
Coming from a Leica X1 user!!! CL now is so expensive
Yes, the used price hit the bottom and keeps rising.
Only one lens? No! The lens chart at 6:27 shows both a 26mm f/2.8 pancake lens and a 40mm f/2. The image at 6:41 that shows the Zfc with 5 different lenses. None of them are zooms. Second from the left is the limited edition 28mm f2.8 SE. In the UK Nikon launched the Zfc with this lens which was styled to mimic the 28mm f2.8 AiS from the 1980s (that was the go-to 28mm for FM, FE2 & FM2 owners). I still use my 28mm AiS which I bought new over 40 years ago. The only possible use for this adapter is for someone replacing their existing Fuji body with a new Nikon whilst prolonging the life if their Fiji lenses.
I don’t see the “problem” this is meant to solve. Nikon makes (in October 2024) 45 native Z-mount lenses. These include a 35mm f1.8, 35mm f1.4 and a compact 40mm f2; all three of which work on BOTH full frame and cropped sensor Z-mount Nikons.
Not a Fuji fan (at least yet), but some great advice!
Enjoyed many of these photos! Nice camera just waiting for some small lenses.
You and me both!
Why isn’t RAID a backup? I mean, what is it storing?
It’s storing the exact copy. So if you have a corrupted file on disk 1 it is duplicated on disk 2.
Good video 👏🏻
I think Nikon dropped the ball not including aperture rings in some of the new vintage-looking lenses. It should also remove that flippy screen (not vintage at all).
Grateful do a more detailed video about using those small leica lenses. Any vignetting? Just how good is autofocus in stills and video. They are expensive to buy, but if perform well, would be ideal for small capable S9. Thank you.
I wouldn't call it ahead of its time. Lack of phase detect in 2016 is more "behind the curve".
Be keen to see how may Fuji lens would cover the full frame sensor of the zf.
This is really interesting. I wanted to do the same once the prices come down. My idea was to use it with an optical viewfinder and the compact Sigma 35/2 or the compact Sigma 45/2,8 with a old 5 cm optical viewfinder.
hey have you used 50mm F1.8? which one should i buy right now for portrait, Fashion 35mm F1.4 or 50mmf1.8?
It desperately needs a 28mm f2.8 and that compact zoom thats been in the marketing pictures for 6 months. Maybe seeing people resorting to APS-C lenses from their discontinued range will inspire Leica to bring back the CL.
I agree. Then it could shot like a slightly bigger Ricoh GR...
Does it work with other Nikon Z cameras?
It should work with all of the Z-mount Nikon cameras.
Oh does this support stabilisation?
In-body image stabilization does always work. For lenses that don't communicate to the camera body you can enter the lens data manually into the camera. This does also work for very old AI-S Nikkor lenses.
Yeah, interesting but kinda useless? I don't like fuji but why would I invest in a crop sensor system when I can buy a Nikon z6 or a z6ii with a 28mm for the price of your kit right there? That if I want to stay on Nikon, if not Canon have us covered with the mighty RP with a cheap adapter RF-EF that could easily open a new world for way better lenses. Thanks for the effort, like from my part but stupid expensive in my opinion!
Point is to have more posibilities with the retro experience other than the single Nikon lens. If its for pure perfomance then of course, Canon and Sony are the way to go. But Fujifilm remains king when it comes to the retro shooting experience. It really is weird that Nikon is selling the Zf like hotcakes but only offers one retro styled lens there. They are really missing without offering lenses with aperture rings.
@@lionheart4424 There are enough third-party lens options with AF for Nikon Z-Mount available if you do some research. Many Zf buyers like to use Voigtländer lenses for example. You don't need to buy every lens from Nikon.
Nikon offer two native 35mm Z-mount primes (f1.8 & f1.4) they also do a compact 40mm f2. OK so they’re “full frame” but they work on crop sensor bodies. This adapter is “solving” a “problem” that doesn’t exist. Today (October 2024) Nikon makes 45 own brand Z mount lenses all of which can be used on the Zfc (or the Zf). The only point I see for such an adaptor it is for photographers wishing to replace Fuji with Nikon and still use their Fuji lenses.
@@lionheart4424Nikon makes 45 Z-mount lenses that will fit this camera. They’re all black so will go well with the retro styling. Of course they also work on the Zf. If you want real “retro” buy a genuine Ai-S lens from the 1970s/80s. I have a beautiful 28mm f2.8 AiS bought new by me in 1982.
@@jorgepinogarciadelasbayonas True, but Nikon offer 45 different lenses including a 35mm f1.4 and 35mm f1.8. The whole premise of this video is misguided - there is plenty of choice. It only makes sense for Fuji owners who want to use their existing lenses on a Zfc (that, I guess, is a very small number).
Actually this kind of combination looks really good on the Zfc. The Nikon Z-Mount can be really versatile to adapt anything on the market from other manufacturers including lenses from Sony.
Interesting exercise but expensive and of limited real world use. All the current generation Fuji cameras are way ahead of the zfc with its dinosaur 20MP sensor and cumbersome interface (e.g., on auto iso). The cost of the adapter can be used toward purchasing a Fuji X-T50 with 40MP. Then you can use all the fantastic Fuji lenses with native AF speed and use Fuji film simulations.
Even X-T30 II would give much more value per cost in this scenario.
@@shira_yone Good point!
Very interesting. I have several Fuji lenses and I have been tempted by the Nikon Zfc. It looks worth a try
I had both at one time. It was an easy choice to keep the 18-55mm.
Your shooted from witch camera?
iPhone 13 Mini
nice points covered moving forward we need more improvements like a stacked memory sensor for faster readouts and will minimize rolling shutter effect, a IBIS , A HYBRID shutter and better autofocus and slog profile with better battery and a cf express card.....nice work.....👍
I think I could actually like the EVF/display switch. That proximity sensor on my Fujifilm cameras is mostly a hindrance, it is just too unreliable (eg. in direct sunlight) and more importantly the switching is annoyingly slow. Trying to switch between LCD and EVF manually is no better. There is a long list of modes tied to the "viewmode" button. You cannot disable entries from the list and always have to cycle through all the modes even if you would only want to use two (like LCD-only and EVF-only). (Also, the list of modes on my X-Trans3 and X-Trans4 cameras is not the same...) Trying to cycle through the list without looking is very prone to error as well because again, the camera adds considerable delay after each press of the button before it will register another press. ...I would trade it for a reliable toggle or a button right away!
I love muntjac deer!! Loads where I am in Essex, but I always seem to get shots of them sneaking away haha, they are easily spooked. I'm using the G9 & 100-400 for wildlife. Still love my CL, have you noticed the used price hike lately on them?
Buy that guy a "the" "for iPhone". Accepting corporate speech without force and need is something special.
Figures 😅
Is the Fuji 27mm twice or three times as better than the TT Artisans? Absolutely not!
Still using my Fuji x100s for all my travel and family photos. Using a 16, 23, 35 1.4 and 56 1.2 for all my paid work with a XT4
