Nice! I am also looking at this lens for my Silver X-E3. I will probably get the Titanium Version. I also wish that they release a L-Mount version of this but doubting because the APSC L mount is discontinued already. Will look perfect for my Leica T. Thanks for the review!
Thanks! It would really be great for my TL2 as well :)
HI, nice review.
It is not a lens I am considering as I was never happy with the focal length of the original XF27mm F/2.8, but I understand about the money saving.
I photographed for years with just a 50mm eqv (XF 35mm F/1.4) but for work we needed a faster focusing lens to do pop up portraiture (prints to 8"x6"), we actually picked up the XC 35mm F/2.0 (similar money to this lens) and to date, out of all the lenses we own as a company, the XC35mm is the one that has brought in the most money.. Optically it is great (the same glass as the XF35mm F/2) and since it never goes outside the lack of WR is not an issue. So sometimes there is big savings in buying the cheaper options
Thank you! Nice story about utilizing a cheap lens to do the heavy lifting. And WR is overrated, imo, unless you are doing a lot of hiking and/or are into landscape photography.
I was considering buying a Ricoh gr iii, now I struggle choosing between the gr iii and gr iiix.
Very interesting narration, thank you !
Difficult choice but in essence it's about your focal length preference. Most people will be happier with 28mm - that focal length fits better on a compact camera and is more versatile. But if you know you love 40mm, the GR IIIx is a beast.
Thanks!
I remember my very first film camera was a Revue 400 FE with a 40mm 2.8
It's a beauty :)
Does this lens have a lens profile for lightroom?
I don't know. I'm using Capture One and I never care about a lens profile anyway.
Idk, I bought this lens for my X-T20 and the autofocus has been horrible. It has difficulties focusing in bright light and high contrast scenarios. Otherwise good lens, but I may have gotten a faulty one...
Sorry to hear that. Mine has no problems with autofocus in various scenarios. Although it feels a bit slower as I pointed out in the video. Try to update the firmware ot use it on another Fuji camera (if you have access). If it's still not working to your expectations, write an email to TTArtisan. Good luck!
actually, the diagonal of a 24x36mm film frame = 42mm!
Yes, I should have mentioned that in the video, thanks!
I can see this being attractive to Sony and Nikon owners but not Fuji when there's already the Fuji 27mm f2.8
It does make sense to Fujifilm users if budget is tight. The original Fuji 27/2.8 still goes for about double the price of new TTArtisan (and WR version is even more).
pretty expensive for such a simple pancake lens
It has AF and aperture ring, so the price is fair, imo, and I've seen it going for $130 on Amazon when on sale.
