  • The McDonnell-Douglas DC-10 is an iconic aircraft that's sadly being retired all around the world over the past few decades.
However, did you know that some Canadian DC-10s actually flew up until 2018? This is the story of Canada's last DC-10s!

@@roderickcampbell2105 well, to be honest, I was asking KF Aerospace as they are a world renowned plane.. fixer.. upper but since you are okay with such things I'll tell ya all about it.... it was July 23rd, 1983 and I was flying back from Montréal with a plate full of spaghetti (I had just signed a _major_ contract with Chef Boyardee) and the next thing I know I've got crabs. Well more crab _configuration_ but the spaghetti is all over my brand new 767. After I slid down the fun-time slide I said "Hey Bob, why'd ya give me crabs?!" and he said he needed to slip stream the crabs for style and survival. It's been stained ever since.

I knew what they were as they were featured on the news due to crashes and the tail almost always survived. When i expressed my concern for my dads safety he always said he`d sit in the back so he was never in any danger. I was never worried again.

Canadian Airlines with their "Roach Coach", the thing was famous around the world. I don't know or that became the graffiti plane. When I moved to Canada in the early seventies, KLM flew their DC-10` from AMS to YUL. They never had a major problem with them, but the image of the 10 was marred forever. I thought it was gutsy that they were replaced with MD-11`. I loved being a passenger on them. Thanks Alex, I saw the Postal DC-10
many times at YVR. I miss the sounds they made while taxiing and the take off thunder.

Awesome , my late dad was an Air Canada mechanic, engineer, known as now.Worked there for 42 years at YUL, (Montreal). His favorite airliner was the L1011 , followed by the DC 10 as far as ease of maintenance. And the DC8 and Lear 25 30 .Air Canada had a bunch of Lears for charters .I flew probably 10 -12 Flights of the 25 .My dad called it a F----- rocket ship! and it was .As a child of an employee i have flown so much on our free passes i can not remember every where i have been.I am 63 own and fly a 1977 Cessna 180 Sky Wagon .Low hours and perfect .Will send you a vid of of my next flight to Ottawa in about 2 weeks.Great channel ,subbed , liked, and shared ..Peace and Respect..

was kinda hoping that some of the KF DC-10 would have come from CP when AC ditched them
BTW, as airlines ditched their DC-10s Fed-Ex went on an adoption spree and spent money to not only convert them to freigher, but into a new tyoe, the MD-10 with same 2 person cockpit as MD-11. Wonder if any are still in service
BTW Montreal based Royal had L1011s till -2000 and i saw the scrapping process once stripped of parts, fuselage was move to private aviation side of Dorval to be cut up andput into dump trucks. very impressive to see fuselage cross section with no cabin ceiling it was huge

I'm based at YKA and see the KF Convairs constantly, always nice to see, I paid a visit to YLW in January and saw the national Geographic 757 while there!

Great topic indeed. MD11’s follow the same fate eventually.

    The best plane to fly.
I still believe 3 engine are better than 2

Was with CAIL when it flew the DC-10........it was the most uncomfortable flight experience, but if you wanted to fly long distance, you didnt have much choice as CAIL got rid of its 747's which was a big mistake.
