You must have either received the lemon of the year, or they've made changes to the product. I received mine about a week ago. The pen writes beautifully on all sorts of different paper/card stock. The only thing it wouldn't write on was some really glossy cardboard packaging. As for the top button, mine has a VERY positive click to it that takes a bit of pressure to activate. You'd be hard pressed (no pun intended) to have it switch on by accident.
I had a similar problem to a bolt action pen I bought. The ink it used was notoriously unreliable. I had a 3D print company make me an adaptor so I can use regular d1 style ink. Now I’m free to use whatever brand I want as long as it is a d1 style ink. Good luck.
Ok, needs a drop or two of oil, replace the refill with name refill, place a small "O" ring around the switch. So after getting it I've got to rebuild it. Maybe they should stick tp flashlights?
you are right the writing part of this pen is a joke.I used it for two hours and it left ink residue all over my hand and stopped working on several occasions.piece of crap
Dang that sucks...certainly some issues there. I could probably get passed the button since I usually have my pen clipped between my buttons on my shirt. But that cartridge needs some work. Possibly got a bad batch or something??
I did this review within the first week of its release and the cartridges were not made available for over 6 weeks. So they were at the time selling pens that didn’t work
@@tyronewalker5764 it takes a rare kind of cartridge. I can’t even remember off top of my head the alternative from elsewhere. Olight cartridge number is RF-OL1827BK
Oh wow. Thanks for this honest review!! I find in-depth negative reviews are some of the most enlightening for potential buyers
Cheers dude 👍 appreciate the feedback
I love the pen, the ink stinks. Anyone know where to find aftermarket ink?

Yeah. As I say, I believe olight knows about the issue but it’s not great to get to production without noticing or testing a batch
sk8rmonkey agreed!
i believe there is a lockout for the light. Hold down the button until you see a red light and it will be locked. i read this from another review
It doesn’t lock out. The normal torches do but this doesn’t. Just tried it but it doesnt
@@sk8rmonkey1 wow thats a crappy deal then. good review mate
Theres only a lockout on the copper version
Olight has the cartridges on there site for free

@@jbc_edc9736 What brand refill does it take? There's got to be something better that what Olight has to offer?

Can confirm the pen writes like garbage. Working on uploading an ink comparison myself.

Good for you 👍 I shall continue to hate without “crying”. Just bringing an honest review to the channel.
