This is an absolutely FANTASTIC video - objectively. It is *extremely* rare to see content of this caliber. And I'm not exaggerating. There is a Harvard lecture viewable on youtube called "How to Speak" - it teaches the ideal features of a presentation & how to be an effective educator. This video does every single thing the Harvard class advised.
Seriously, this could be used to teach new creators the features of an effective educational video. If you analyze this lesson, you find every box checked off:
    - Introduction is brief and purposeful. Every sentence communicates meaningful information to the viewer. No padding or fluff. Quickly gets to the point.
    - No superfluous info. Background/history section provides important context while remaining as brief as possible. Additional, optional, reading is provided in the description.
    - In the first 30 seconds, it is directly and clearly stated what the viewer can expect to know by the end of the lesson.
    - Extremely useful, novel information. Genuine, high density educational material. Not just recycled self-help BS.
    - Not only delivers on the promise, but vastly exceeds expectations and over-delivers by a factor of 7000x (!)
    - Tons of examples, all demonstrated by an expert and accompanied by purposeful explanations. Every example is clean, clear, and concise. As are the explanations.
    - Strong pacing. Does not perseverate or become redundant. Consistently moves forward without showing every single combination, respecting the viewer's intelligence and time.
    - Engaging, energetic, lively presentation. Not monotonous or boring. Inspires excitement and a desire to learn & improve.
    - "Advertisement" at the end is placed _after_ the content and is well-earned, passionate, and convincing. Clearly for a product you sincerely believe in (obviously, as it is your own product).
I happened across this video by chance, while looking up how to edit voiceover audio to sound professional. Countless numbers of people have told me I have a fantastic voice and should do radio or voice acting, but I never seriously considered it due to my career in medicine. I am most inspired by this video though, I must say. This is the first video I've EVER seen that was of such high quality it actually made me want to buy the service being advertised at the end.
Excellent, excellent stuff. Keep this up!

@@ImproveYourVoice Not yet, but I'll have a video soon. challenged myself to shown an animation done in 10 days. I'll be totally giving you credit for helping me develop the characters. Like Ive never been able to comprehend how voice actors did this and you kinda made it about the story of who the people are. which understanding characters is something "feel". like are they stuck inside their head - nasaly or are they louder and more confident, what happens when you take the timing of the louder character and compliment it with the high twinge of a 70s cartoon villain? pace the timing a little more as if yelling at lackeys passing-who are-giving you items you "SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED THEM NOT TO TOUCH"....( so it doesn't sound like a villian monologue, atleast to me.

This is the most helpful video I've ever found regarding advice on how to manipulate one's own voice. It's so much easier to play around with different voices now thanks to your brilliant categorizations and demonstrations of the various kinds of voices and voice characteristics there are and can be tapped into. Breaking down the aspects of voice into different volumes, rhythms, textures, etc. is such an incredibly valuable set of lessons; it cannot be overstated how important knowing and understanding this is, and it's shocking that I haven't seen anyone else mention these before (not to say there aren't others bringing them up and explaining them, rather to emphasize when searching for advice on speaking, acting, changing your voice, etc. this is a one of a kind video, from my experience). Love this so much. I studied Laban in theater school, and NEVER would have thought to apply it to the voice. And all of this, of course, is before considering changing posture in any way, or using another bit of physicality, which ALSO impacts how all of these would sound. Amazing. Thanks!

Thank you! Yeah I learned it at Acting school and we did in fact use it in many ways including like this for the voice! It’s such a great system. Thanks for your comment 🙏😁

I'm just trying to become an audiobook narrator. This went so far past what I was expecting. Thank you the the parts of developing voices. Now I just gotta work at them. I figure if I can manage 20 (I don't see needing 5000) over the next 6 months well I will be happy. Thanks.

No doubt this video will help anyone wanting to do their own voices. This is great! I only wish I could get rid of the sound of my voice. It’s recognizable in every voice I try. I realize some people are so good that they can hide theirs.

I love how this guy can do so many different voices. I think he should go voice something in a movie!

There is definitely some overlap with some of the different "traits," but the way you clearly outline names for the traits is awesome! It really helps keep track of the vocal qualities for each character

This is a great video and using these techniques I think you could definitely create 100 very distinct voices. However, I feel like some of the options overlap, for example between loud and large, sustained and slow, female and young (there's a reason many boy characters in cartoons are portrayed by female voice artists), old and breathy, etc. And in the same vein there are some that would be harder to combine, such as a large young female breathy nasal slow dabbing voice, just as an example.

This has honestly been really helpful! I want to become a voice actor so badly so I am trying to make up different voices. I have a very high pitched voice and I really want to lower it, do you have any advice?

I’m a 8 category-an actor/singer who wants to be able to sing in all types of voices. Jack of all trades almost, but also to be able to sing any male or female or any singing role.

I personally have always struggled with my voice. Portraying an emotion on demand is super easy to me, but making literally ANY voice other than my own has so far proved impossible. I'm hoping this channel's video archive can change that.
As a game developer I need to be able to do a ton of voices. As a singer and rapper I want to have power in my vocals, and as a person I just wanna have more control over my voice.

@@ImproveYourVoice Great question. Based on how popular this video has been and the fact that it is evergreen, I would suggest you break down elements in this video to smaller sections. There is a lot in here to absorb. For example: I am not doing VO's professionally and I would assume others are not as well. I just want to create a character or two for my own videos. So maybe take one style and put them into one or two genres. For example... Start by selecting one group and show us how to develop that character. i.e. Male, Age Group, and Character.... Bob, 35, Businessman or Gerald, 65, Know-it-geek. What seems to be missing is creating the backstory of a character. The voice is a lot of practice but how important is it to create a persona around a character you are creating so you can imagine them?
