Yes, reeeaaallly irritating. I have to push through the ingenuous tone of voice to get to the content, which I like. She does have beautiful breath control when she speaks, perhaps that’s what gives it the sense of “fakeness “ rather than a real person speaking.
You had me laughing out loud at 2.12 -- not at you, but remembering when I would be doing these very exercises in the car, alone at 4am, on my way to present my early-morning radio program. As you'd know, I couldn't drink coffee before going on air because it tightens the vocal cords, so I'd drive along, uncaffeinated, making all sorts of funny noises and faces. One morning at the traffic lights, I look to the side and there's a rather elderly gentleman, doing the same thing and nodding to me, with a great smile on his face. He wound down his window and called out, "I'm a singer too!". Now, I can't sing, but those exercises did help with going on air at 5am! Thanks for the memory and the giggle (and for all your wonderful videos) 💐

@@chrisdevene9158 I can certainly say whenever I do this sort of voice I typically am being condescending so you're completely right there lmao. I feel weird listening to her talk. Don't like it. I just prefer people's natural voices?
But some people cant help like me whenever i try to project my voice i feel kinda weird and it comes off as fake so i have to speak calmly coz that is my natural voice
I feel like she is holding back her natural voice and expression to sound more calm or velvety than is really necessary. I hear this a lot in yoga teachers and relaxation experts. I think it takes away from building rapport because it doesn't sound like a genuine way to make a connection. Appropriate for some contexts, but really awkward for others. For example, it isn't the best way to deliver a joke or energize people at a team building event.
hmm i disagree. I find her voice calming. I'm not much about connecting with people, but I think some people are attracted to voices like her as oppose to the loud noises that is in their daily life. I think if you train your voice, it can sound like genuine and people wouldn't even know.
Your voice and the way you articulate is so soothing and I almost always find myself smiling through your vids, it could be because you are also smiling. Thank you for teaching us these tips to improve ourselves. I would love to have a soothing voice like yours. ❤️

Agree. That’s what I experienced. My voice and diction is a lot like hers and people talk over me in business settings. (Disclaimer: I don't want to be rude. Just showing that not everyone likes the same stuff) Actually I'm more comfortable when someone speaks the way pressing the oxygen more than the other way. I don't know why, it might be a personal trigger to me, but when someone speaks so soft I feel like they're trying to manipulate me. As if I am a scared lamb and they try to talk me into the slaughter house, but I'M NOT A LAMB?!

This was a wonderfully informative video, Audrey. Please make more of this type of video. No matter what the exterior body looks like, one's voice can ruin the appeal of the person. This is so very underestimated, and I believe the voice affects relationships more than anything.
Hey Erika! RUclips algorithm brought me here. What are the odds I'd find someone I know on a comment section. Its been ages since Zalora. Hope you are well!
Who is "everyone"? Weird? Condescending? She has beautiful modulation, deliberate control of each syllable, and an excellent command of the English language. She presents herself as confident, intelligent, and warm.
The problem is thinking too much about the sound of my voice when speaking. That comes when I tried to change my voice pitch, and my accent, and my intonation... It's not easy because other people can feel that you are concentrating on something else but they don't know what's wrong with you 😂
Would you do a series on how to sing and strengthen the voice please? I naturally have a softer voice and it's frustrating when I have to strain during networking events or even just eating in restaurants! Thanks Audrey in advance :)
Increased breath support helps us get louder and shorter phrases (taking a breath where you might normally just pause) so you don't have excess strain at the end of your sentences. Hydration. Try to find a quieter part of the venue/room if you can. You put strain on your vocal folds when you have to speak over noise and you get drowned out if you aren't louder than the background noise.
true but it seems like whenever i do that, especially in groups of people, even friends, i get the sense that they're quickly losing interest in what i have to say. though admittedly that mostly stems from my own insecurities and my monotone voice. any other way of speaking feels forced : / idk...
@@aurawolf664 The struggle is real! Someone said to focus on the back of the head of the person you're speaking to, like past their eyes and.through their brain. Seems to work when I remember to do it, which is rare, lol but when I do people seem to pay attention more.

Omg! That is what happened to me as a small child. My mom was hard of hearing 🧏🏽♀️ and I had to yell for years, and I couldn’t speak until I was in Middle with a clear voice. I had to stop speaking for 2 months to let my vocal cords rest. I went to a voice specialist and that is exactly what he said. He said I had calluses on my vocal cords. And I guess it went away because I can speak clearly now. But I do have a little bit of a raspy voice. Wow, this video was so helpful!!! Thank you for sharing! Plus you have a beautiful voice...❤️

You are so pleasant to listen to. Not only are you engaging, but your kindness really shows and it's really a breath of fresh air. I just found your channel and already find you so sweet. Looking forward to watching some more of your content. Wish u all the best!
I naturally speak like this, just not as high pitch. I noticed people dont seem to listen when i speak, even if theyve asked me a question. People respond better to louder people that speak somewhat fast. Not soft spoken folks like myself.
Same. I am a man who has a lighter and softer voice, and I always clearly pronounce words. I often see that people dont get attatched too me often. When I speak faster, deeper, and more "street like", people get more attatched to me.
Something I would like to point out that I really appreciated seeing in this video so clearly, is something she points out too. Her conscious effort to control her voice, so those moments she has a big emotion like feeling bashful as she does something silly in front of a camera, or she gets excited about a topic, it shows so much more because she slips ever so slightly and you can hear a small shift in her voice, then she brings it right back to her middle ground voice and I think it's very charming. It shows you where she's most passionate and where she's trying her hardest to communicate clearly.
I learned some of these the hard way during my teaching career. On cafeteria duty, I was always straining my voice. Drinking warm water helped. I never get laryngitis now that I am retired. Good tips here!!!

Thank you @Gee Wiz and @Amanda Brady
@@sopermanobsessed Bless you Amanda for your work. I knew what you meant, as I have a relative who did this kind of work *retired now* and they certainly helped so many people to have a better life. Thank you for giving your life for a great cause.
She sounds like she's using her "phone" voice all the time.
A bit "sugary," Too sweet.
“Phone voice” like faking you’re voice when speaking on the phone?
Its the opposite of the lazy at home voice lol
Yes, reeeaaallly irritating. I have to push through the ingenuous tone of voice to get to the content, which I like. She does have beautiful breath control when she speaks, perhaps that’s what gives it the sense of “fakeness “ rather than a real person speaking.
yes, but in a good way.
My cousin said she ruined her singing voice after 4 years of high school and 4 years of college cheerleading. I hope that we can one day hear you sing!
Fickle Kitty - I ruined my singing voice from working at a haunted voice and screaming all night without doing proper voice warmups :(
First thought came to my mind, my cheerleader voice ruin my soft voice.
Quite honestly, you can sell to me anything. I follow you for just fashion, when I got this notification, I was second guessing why I should watch it, but remembered how you sound, and that to me is soothing, to also mention that you teach well. Thank you soo much. Never stop doing what you do.

Awe, sorry. But I would think in some cultures it may sound exotic and that’s nice.
Not “how?”, but *”why?”* German is beautiful and so is a German accent.
I need this for my son. He has trouble with loosing air and not knowing when to inhale while talking. I’m so glad I found this.

Funny! I caught it too! I replayed it 3x.. thinking THAT’S HER REAL VOICE!🤣
Lol I was wondering if I should be commenting on that...
Nice catch!
Heard that too! I like that voice better honestly 😭
I like it sooooo much better than the one she does the majority of the video.

Her voice is PERFECT. I can't say how soothing it was just too listen to that entire thing.
You're speaking and smiling simutanously. That's why your voice is so attractive
I honestly don’t like when people sound like they’re deliberately making their voice sound calm, puts me a bit on edge 😬
Same, it's so goddamn irritating
I feel like they are being condescending
@@chrisdevene9158 I can certainly say whenever I do this sort of voice I typically am being condescending so you're completely right there lmao. I feel weird listening to her talk. Don't like it. I just prefer people's natural voices?
Therapists must annoy you so much lol
That's so true about yoga teachers lol
YES!!! You described it perfectly! I like when she had those moments when she laughs and suddenly sounds “normal”. It comes across as more genuine.
What a perfect description! Nailed it. That’s PRECISELY how I feel about hearing her talk
I agree with another comment that said it's a customer job voice. Friendly without actually connecting
I just tried the lip trills and my dogs head spun around and she looked at me with shock lol

I've been folowing you for a few months, and had no idea that you are an opera singer, now I like you even more, because I am also a professional musician 😍💜
Your voice is very calming, and projects a confident nature
I think her voice is so soothing, calm and slow. She might not be heard in a group of assertive people!
My voice takes over everything 😃
@@louse_mouse I find the accent very annoyingly grating.
Agree. That’s what I experienced. My voice and diction is a lot like hers and people talk over me in business settings. I had to get my rushed, running out of air, loud, bitchy voice to get heard which is a lot of work for me. When you speak calmly in those settings people take it as a sign of weakness
@@patsmythe949 An obnoxiously loud culture that is. It should hit you when you travel abroad, if you are able to see or think of yourself outside of your own cultural paradigms that is, american and british travellers are awfully loud. Run into a group of young british and americans... its like if they were putting on a show. All the space they take, vocally, i find it so cringe.
Has to do with this typical individualist-consummerist mindset that prevails in white majority english speaking countries. Like if being loud, with all the giggles and the dramatic tones, was the only way they know to feel like they are relevant, like they are "expressing themselves"

What a lovely, relaxing channel! Glad I discovered you ☺️
Hi friend marie
I love that you’re doing other videos besides fashion, this is very helpful.
Audrey, thanks for the great information. You make being soft-spoken work BC you speak with confidence, poise and clarity. You make eye contact, smile and have wonderful posture-the way you present yourself in general gets attention. How impressive that you are an opera singer!
Quadergum 😂😂😂

I am a voice over artist and one of my clients just wanted me to sound more "elegant" and I was totally unsure of what that meant. Sometimes different languages mean different things. My voice its a little raspy and sounds a bit like Emma Stone. I found Audrey's tips very helpful. She sounds like a teacher who loves her job. I think you can have a beautiful voice no matter what your natural voice sounds like. Thank you! OK I get it now.
How do you get a job as a voice-over artist? :) Sounds fun!

Me: this video works
This was a wonderfully informative video, Audrey. Please make more of this type of video. No matter what the exterior body looks like, one's voice can ruin the appeal of the person. This is so very underestimated, and I believe the voice affects relationships more than anything.
You’re an opera singer!! That’s why there’s such a lovely way about you!! 💛
Hey Erika! RUclips algorithm brought me here. What are the odds I'd find someone I know on a comment section. Its been ages since Zalora. Hope you are well!
Everyone says her voice is weird or condescending but I find it so beautiful and smooth 😭
I haven't seen anyone say that her voice is weird.
Who??? All I see are comments about how great her voice is.
Who is everyone?
Who is "everyone"? Weird? Condescending? She has beautiful modulation, deliberate control of each syllable, and an excellent command of the English language. She presents herself as confident, intelligent, and warm.
@@trytoplaypiano Let It Go , Elsa.
Fun Fact: speaking more slowly allows your audience to be more interested in what you are talking about. :)
true but it seems like whenever i do that, especially in groups of people, even friends, i get the sense that they're quickly losing interest in what i have to say. though admittedly that mostly stems from my own insecurities and my monotone voice. any other way of speaking feels forced : / idk...
@@aurawolf664 I hope you improve your intonation and just relax. I also have a monotone voice.
@@aurawolf664 The struggle is real! Someone said to focus on the back of the head of the person you're speaking to, like past their eyes and.through their brain. Seems to work when I remember to do it, which is rare, lol but when I do people seem to pay attention more.
I have noticed when people speak softly often people need to strain to hear them and they listen more intently. Thi is something I have observed and never actually tried to do though!

I’m a pretty good singer and have no insecurities about my speaking voice, but her voice is so relaxing I decided to watch this before bed. All good tips, and major props for putting the timestamps next to the sections
This video is so helpful. I have always felt my voice is too loud, too fast and often I interrupt. Your tips a well crafted and I learned from each one. Thank you! You have beautiful poise and a lovely voice; I am not surprised you trained as an opera singer.
I almost fell asleep while watching this.. Her voice is so calming
You are so pleasant to listen to. Not only are you engaging, but your kindness really shows and it's really a breath of fresh air. I sometimes feel so anxious listening to content creators and entertainers I actually love, and I realized it's the pacing and tone that's too much for me.
I just found your channel and already find you so sweet. Looking forward to watching some more of your content. Wish u all the best!
Audrey, I had no idea you were an opera singer. You are my new hero!
I naturally speak like this, just not as high pitch. I noticed people dont seem to listen when i speak, even if theyve asked me a question.
People respond better to louder people that speak somewhat fast. Not soft spoken folks like myself.
Yeah, if you speak soft you are not going to come across as confident!
same.
Dont change b yourself, fudge em
So true. My voice is naturally softer too but in north America they like you to be loud.
Same. I am a man who has a lighter and softer voice, and I always clearly pronounce words. I often see that people dont get attatched too me often. When I speak faster, deeper, and more "street like", people get more attatched to me.
Her voice is kinda in that eeiry perfect, like I feel like I'm supposed to trust it but I don't.
Good tips here!!!
every voice is beautiful lol! when i hear people talk like this it feels like im meeting their representative and the true person standing in front of me, also makes me realize how calculating they are to "put on" a certain voice.
