Hello ma'am, thank you so much for the tips. I'd do well to practice them.
However, do you think this is applicable to public speaking and voice acting?
Cause, I personally feel it's apt only during a conversation not during presentation.
As we're always told to put life into our presentation during public speaking and voice over, depending on what you're trying to pass across. It shouldn't be calm all the way.
I'm confused at this point, cause I'm someone who speaks calmly at the start of a public presentation, but in the process I begin to sound energetic, rush my words and put much emphasis into my presentation.
Though, I usually notice the rapt attention in my audience , which has always given me the notion of a good public speaker, but stumbling on your video yesterday, makes me ask myself if I was doing it right or are these tips majorly meant for dialoguing?

    • @ayanime_edem
      @ayanime_edem  9 месяцев назад +2

@chellyberk fun fact, I’m holding a training next month and one of the feedback I received was that my voice is too calm and it’ll put the participants to sleep.
I laughed because my conversation voice and presentation voice are two different things so you’re right.
This is helpful during personal conversations while you want to be energetic and “perform” during public speaking or a presentation.

I wish I could say I “stumbled” across this video but I didn’t. I absolutely looked up “how to speak softer” and your video popped up. I really felt weird about looking this up because I’ve kinda accepted that I’m an aggressive talker. But I no longer want that for me. I’ve been happily single for about 2 years and focusing on growing my business. But I think that has put me deeeeeep in my masculine energy and I noticed I’m so unaligned with my energy. I didn't realize that I talked too much until I sat down with a new friend who talked a lot. It was soooo exhausting for me to keep up with the conversations and usually just excused myself. After 2 or 3 encounters with him I started questioning my own character of speech and I realized I sounded just like him to other people's ears. So now before I talk, I often ask myself if it's necessary and mind my tone. I'm glad I came across this video as it has given me more insights. Thank you so much.

I searched out lessons on becoming a more elegant woman. I grew up in a chaotic, violent, loud, fear induced home and my behavior was a direct reflection on the position my father had in the church.

I often get mistaken for a man when I talk because my voice is not only quite deep, but also kinda harsh and loud. Not like screaming loud, but just has a lot of chest power, you know. Kinda as if I'm holding a speech on stage with no microphone. So I've been wanting to just speak more softly. I think that alone will help a lot, because I do notice I get treated much better on the rare occasions I actually manage to speak softly. I do however already speak clearly, with lots of melody/variation, kinda slowly, and I've always been very keen about my pronounciation. I do try to avoid excessive filler words, but they do come out a lot still when I'm nervous. So I appreciate your advice here, it's very helpful!

The older I get, the less emphasis I place on appearance although that is always a consideration. But now I pay much more attention to a woman’s voice. Soft, slow, intentional, good enunciation and throw in pleasant eye contact and I find this very alluring and attractive. Loud, vindictive, sarcastic or antagonistic speech is an instant turn off for me. Another side note is the volume of speech. I find that too many women simply talk too much. Just some observations from the male perspective. And I actually got a few ideas that I need to work on my own speech as a man.

I have a natural deep voice but not as deep as male voice lol like you can tell it’s still female voice. It’s not loud neither low just normal tone but I always liked high pitched voice because I thought it’s a sign of femininity. However when I try to make my pitch sound high it sounds so fake because it’s not my natural voice. Also as a female I have broad shoulders and I am quiet tall, so that could be the reason why I have a deep and chill type of voice.

You are also soo beautiful!🥹 and feminine voice really brings out more beauty in a woman🤍 Thank you so much! 🥹🌹❤

Thank you so much for filming this video. I didn’t notice that I was an aggressive talker until I watched this video. Most times, people would ask me to repeat myself and I didn’t understand why. Ever since I watched this video last week, I’ve been taking out my words one at a time and it has worked for me.

I’ve been told that I sound monotone TWICE in my life. Unfortunately, it was in the work area of my life. I’m now excited to go to work and utilize the information you so gracefully provide. Thank you and God bless❤

WALK INTO THE ROOM TO SPEAK TO THEM, DO NOT YELL ACROSS THE ENTIRE HOUSE - I am literally trying to teach my children this. Or I should say unteach them this bad habit I taught them. Ahhh joys of motherhood... most times I feel like I am learning just as much as they are! Makes me wish I didn't wait till my 30s to have my first child!

I work in a construction firm as an HR, soft voice doesn't work for me. I am in the midst of men all day, if I speak softly, they disregard my words. But when i speak firmly and not so soft they move.
