Its amazing u can squeeze that much light out of a single AAA nowdays. Remember those double D days?
Heck most D batteries are bigger than the lights i have 🤣👍🏼
Maglite still sell those long heavy D cell flashlights working with bulbs. I really dont get it why they are still in production?! Actually Maglite has nothing to offer. Looks like they just survive on their brand
@@Gieszkanne I was thinking about that the other day, their brand is dying fast
What’s funny is I have two old school maglites one d and one c. I even spent the money to upgrade one of them to led with the intention of using it for power outages since it would have a really long run time. The performance is pathetic. It made it whiter but not that much brighter and those things are dim compared to even today’s penlights .I was hoping the led upgrade would also give a good performance boost.
@@Gieszkanne I think some hold on to the old maglites as a club that lights up. I am friends with some guys that work security, and the big maglite comes in handy.
I got myself the i5t and my cousin the i3t and his wife the i3e.
All of us are happy with them. My cousin said he Carrie’s his everyday. I keep mine inside unless I walk my dog or go out in the dark it’s not really an EDC for me but I do love it.
I have several i3Ts and rotate them for EDC. Right now, I'm using the Titanium version I just got. Sweet little light.
I ordered i3T online got a huge discount. I can't wait
My folks gave me the olight xmass kit last year. It had the titanium.. nice light on my leatherman pack.
Im gonna gamble and purchase the 5t. I'm hoping that it fits the leatherman pouch. I like the idea of longer battery life.
@@tommyhighwaytv1998 got any update im pretty curious myself hahaha
@@tommyhighwaytv1998 this is my dilemma. Did it fit the leatherman pouch? I have the Surge and looking to fit a light one side and a ferry rod on the other if I can but flash light takes priority
I got exactly what I was looking for from your video.. thank you!. New subscriber
Great vid. I have multiple colors of both and frequently give them both as gifts. Both solid, smaller edc options.
Perfectly explained. Thank you!
Great comparison vid! Love the titanium..
Nice comparison vid...Thanks
I've got the i5t in od green and an m1 raider in tan on their way I went with these specifically for the fact they use regular batteries that are easy to come by I already have a baldr mini it's an amazing light as well very good battery life and charges fully in no time at all
I have the i5t in green and it's been a great light for mechanic work and being outside in the dark. I use rechargeable batteries because they seem to last longer and cost less. It seems to eat through regular batteries.
Thank you for the comparison, I prefer the i3T myself. I'm glad you did this video.
nice video comparison of the luxeon tx vs the oshram p9 with pmma optics!. I cant wait to review the i3t myself. I missed out on the i5t titanium but thats okay. For reference, what iso, aperture, and white balance where you shooting at for the locked settings? Also what kind of camera and audio equipment are you using? Thanks!
I have the i5t and i love the 1r ii, the little one for a small light
I just recently bought the I3t I figured with the Gap in lumens I wouldn’t like it. But the Lower lumens Helps me navigate through a dark house at night and the high mode came in handy when the Fuse box went out and had no power for a few days. Surprised how much length one AAA battery had before had to replace it
Damn. The I3T sold itself. Going on Amazon now to get one.
thanks very helpful
Excellent review
Thank you
I have both flashlights and I always go back to the I3T....
The blue clip does look cool.
These are very nice. I’d also strongly consider the Lumintop Tool AA 2.0 and the Streamlight Protac 1L-1AA. Very similar weight and far better performance and output.
I just ordered my first o light and went with the i3t(confusing naming at first) I’m kinda regretting not getting the i5t
I'm an i5t guy myself. I'd definitely go with an i5R next time. It has a rechargeable battery and it also takes AA batteries as well. Its a nice investment.
I enjoy both. It all comes down to candela. They have basically the same candela or intensity. Hence why the i3t has so much punch. The i5t is by far the run time winner. But the i3t supports 10440 battery and it’s a little monster with that battery.
Get 1 of both. The I3t is on sale right now for $16.
Get both, they're both very useful.
Olight has some good prices 💲💲💲💵💵💵 on these particular models 🔦🔦🔦.
Great video as always P.G. 👍😉.
The sale price for the i3t titanium is good. :)
@@TheFossilChannel Indeeeeeeed 😁😎.
They sent me a 2021 friendship Titanium O-pen addressed and engeaved to a totally random dude who I found lives in Anchorage Alaska!!!!! 😒
Now I'm scrambling to print shipping labels and do their foot work to ship to Alaska. I'm hoping id he got mine, he's doing the same! 🤞🏽
What ended up happening?
@@nathanb778 after literally 9 more emails i received my friendship pen a few days ago. (From olight factory)
@@H1Galactica Glad to hear
@@nathanb778 me too.
Wow that's crazy it took so many emails...
I'm sorry that happened to you! that's something I could see happening to me😂
you had to pay to send it to Alaska, no way right? and what is a friendship pen?
I have almost every light Olight makes including 5 s1r II baton. and I know Olight makes a penlight but what is a friendship pen?
I love that titanium man 👍🏼
Indeed
Nice comparison, I have several of both model. The I5T has better run time and a more useable beam I think. For me a longer runtime is important and the AA battery source hits a sweet spot for good output and run time. Lower lumens doesn't equal more throw. The focus of the reflector/lens in combination with light output can create different outcomes. I like the floody beam of the I5T for EDC, they have the same distance but the I5T has more spill which makes it better for seeing what's nearby and close work. Both are great I just think the I5T checks off more boxes as an all around EDC light.
I just ordered i3t but regretting not spending more for i5t
Thanks for the comparison. Those are some good looking flashlights. I really hate the green tint shift in the cornea of the beam. You know how you said about the LED tints between them, I believe that was the bin of the LEDs, which is something that alters each time a LED is made changing the light it emits and OLight can not help that but I wish they used nicer LEDs with less tint shift.
I wish there was a nichia 219b or 219c emitter options even though the 219b is old, i prefer rosey tints vs green. I've yet to try the sst20 in 4000k with high cri ra.
@@TheFossilChannel Nichia 219B SW45K R9080 would be so nice. The SST-20 in 4000k doesn't look as nice as a 80 CRI nichia 219C 5000k. The SST-20 is quite green.
@@shadowmaster8020 ive got an lm 10 coming with the 4000k sst 20 and a fw3t in nichia 219ct high cri. gonna do a video on those two coming up.
@@TheFossilChannel Sweet. Is it a copper LM10? Also have you heard of the Emisar D4V2, I've got one coming with xpl-hi for the output of about 4000 lumens. I've heard people enjoy a nichia E21A (basically a LED that people call just as beautiful as the nichia 219B and the 3000k and 4500k achieves the same bin roughly) 4500 k and 3000 k mix on the D4V2.
I'm an i3t 10440 all day, absolutely amazing
@Jay Three do you have any issue with it getting too hot using the 10440 instead of the standard AAA? And is it noticeably brighter?
@@josephcostanzo6500 it is like low is high and high is turbo, very noticeable difference , really no need to run high longer then a minute or so, if left on high it will get hot
Do you any particular brand rechargeable or single use 10440? Or do you have to purchase one from olight? Cheers
@@sarahjanehall5784 I use the red ebl, have been for well over a year, and zero issues on any of them, with the 10440, low is high and high is turbo, Alot of people use envelope, I think they are called, also have not heard any complaints on that brand
My equipment told me the i3 has more candela but not for long. The battery dies quickly and then they are kinda even for a while
Neither is correct for everyone or wrong for everyone since everyone has different needs. Go by what YOU need, not by what someone else needs in their light. And you can't tell much from shining the light at a wall, you need to get outside in the real world.
I use i3T with 10440 it's a whole lot brighter than i5T by alot.
And the low mode seems to be about 60 or 70 lumens and will run over 2 hours with a 10440.
Seems the i3t is the way to go. Smaller, lighter, basically the same output to the naked eye. 🤷♂️
What do you think about the I5T vs the Warrior Mini? I know there’s a size difference, but is it worth the extra capacity and ability to get 1500 lumens?
The i5t is great for what it is, which is a good preparedness edc tool. The AA battery makes it easy to refuel when charging power isn't available. So as far as the i5t vs the warrior mini. The warrior mini is a power house by comparison of you consider the runtimes vs output. You can run the warrior mini at 500 lumens for about 3.5 hours and on 15 lumens for 150 hours vs the i5t at 300 lumens for 3 mins until it drops down several times and then with the 15 lumens at only 20 hours. The runtimes are dramatically different. The warrior mini crushes the i5t. If I was going to be trapped in the wood for a week with a warrior mini 2 batteries or a i5t with 4 batteries. I'd pick the warrior mini. You can start a fire with it. You can fight off an attacker with it. Its a great light. The i5t is great for very long term use in a power outage that last weeks and all you have access to are AA BATTERIES. That's my 2 cents. Sorry about the long rant. I think they're both great lights either way. For the money the i5t will get the job done but the warrior mini will do the same job longer and better and brighter. Well worth the price difference.
@@PreparedGuy Hi, thanks for this comparison. Under i5t review you mentioned in comments that its actual runtime in 300 lumen mode was a lot longer than claimed (3 min). Is that so? I'm thinking of getting one of these.
Yes, if you restart the high mode after it steps down you can get it to run for 3 minutes several times over in a row. It will get very warm. The automatic step-down is timed for 3 minutes. During my runtime tests I ran the light on the highest lumen output and let it step down naturally.
Also as a side note, some folks use different types of batteries to make the light last longer or shine brighter. I would recommend against this, the down side to that is if the LED BULB life span is rated for 50,000 hours you cut the life down to about 15,000 hours as lithium batteries will damage the i5t's led circuits. It says not to use anything other than alkaline and NiMH batteries for this very reason in user manual. They're vague about this on the olight website.
@@PreparedGuy Ok, now you got me a bit confused. You wrote: "Ok let me explain what actually happened during the runtime test. I started the test at 300 lumens, it stepped down from 300lm after about 3 hours, even though it was suppose to do that after 3 minutes. Then it step down to 150 lumens when left on, which it did, then it was suppose to last for 22 minutes at 150lm, which is ran for a few more hours then finally it stepped down to 15lm for the rest of the time."
I apologize for the confusion. Thats what I get for writing messages half asleep 🤣👍🏼 yes that is exactly how the step down function works. I must have been mistaken in my original video.
Run lithium ion batteries or lithium rechargeable batteries
I'm not a fan of the ramp up on the i5T when it goes to high mode. Fan of the i3T, it is a great EDC.
Yeah, I feel like it's a bit sliggish compared to the i3t.
To my surprise I found the IE3 to be a better thrower that looks brighter, if I had to choose between them it would be the IE3 due to performance and size
I got a i3t, think I’m going to get a s1r2 next
2 months later I have 7 olights lol it’s addictive
My i3t is floody and warm in color. Nothing like this one. Uuugh
Me again lol, I think I'm about to pick up a i5t cause my i3t battery life is poor even with my 800-900mah rechargeable battery's, so I think ima grab an i5t cause my rechargeable AAs have 2300mah. I'm about to try some energizer ultimate lithium in my i3t this week tho and the new duracell optimum batteries
I have tests for all those batteries in the channel, definitely check out the videos. I definitely like the i5t runtimes. The batteries seem to last longer. I always feel like I'm replacing my i3t battery every 2 or 3 days.
Откуда цифры? Я купил i3T включил на максимум и через 2 минуты стала падать яркость, а через 6 минут яркость упала до минимума. Откуда 180 люмен = 21 минута я не знаю.
I honestly prefer my i3t over my i5t.
That’s cool to read.I just ordered i3t and was regretting not getting the i5t
Please send me this one
The i5t have this 300 lumens only for 3 minutes....
The i3t is brighter than the i5t when you use a lithium ion 10440 instead of a triple A that being said when you use a lithium ion 14500 in the i5t instead of a double A oh wow get back
if you put a 10440 battery in the the I3T it throws 300 metres hahahahahahahahaha
I heard if you hook it up to a car battery it turns into a light saber. 🤣😂

Olight has been losing me more and more lately. I recently just bought a copper mass drop flashlight made by lumintop with a nichia led emitter, once I started getting into accurate color rendering and higher CRI numbers, the more I am realizing olight is grossly overrated
My favorite lights are Lumintop/ Sofirn/ Wurkkos/ Convoy. All great lights for the money!
Bigger is always better !!!!
That's what she said 🤣👍
Hum, neither. Outputs are very odd.
I personally like a 0.5 or 1 lumen moonlight modes on my flashlights.
I have both and never use them.
🤣👍🏼 what do you use then?
@@PreparedGuyI have a lot of Olights 😂
Same here. I agree, I edc a warrior mini but keep the i3t and i5t in my edc bag as a back up or in smaller bags for emergencies. I rarely use them as well 🤣👍🏼 but they're fun to have and to play with.
AA beats AAA every time.
They both suck actually. Streamlight microstream usb or lumintop tool 2.0 are way better options.
🤣🤣 tell us how you really feel man. I'll have to check those out. Thanks for the feedback. I'm always interested in what folks like to use.
The pocket clip on the Lumintop sucks. It was a deal killer.
The i5T is roughly 30% brighter, so I don’t know where your Info is coming from. Also it stays longer brighter since it has a more powerful battery. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Did you watch a different video from the rest of us? Dudes litterally showing you both the lights and telling you what he is seeing. Plus he says exactly what you said about the lights. No bubble to burst. He says in many videos that the i5t is his go to between the 2 lights.
