I've used a lot of small flashlights over the years and the Olight i3T EPS is by far my favorite in this category. I plan to grab more in the future. Thanks for your review of it.

@@maxlvledc A Texas_Ace lumen tube might provide a way of doing quick on-the-spot checks to see the lumen output. But, yeah. Runtime testing and then editing specs into a video... lot of time and not even sure if people care all that much.
I do agree with you. the i3t is likely their best light funnily enough - that rear fwd clicky is damn near perfect. Ive owned 100-200$ lights that don't have a switch as nice.
The i3 it’s t that great if you use it a lot. The light starts to flicker when you use it for long periods of time. I have never had this issue with the i5
Somehow ALL 5 of the i3t and i5r lights in my rotation have had switch problems. Still a great bang for the buck but how do I have all of the bad luck if all of yours are fine except one? 🤦♀️ Great battery tip BTW
My copper one failed. The spring in the end cap corroded. I'll return it. I have a green one & the one in carbon fiber. I always carry the green one for light edc now that it's lighter out. Leave the heavier ones behind.
I really like Olight (the Batons are my favorite) but this particular model - even as cheap as it is - has never been a contender for me because it doesn't tailstand. I do alot of ceiling bounce with my lights. Any ideas on how one might accomplish that? Thanks for the review!
their flashlights are both gorgeous and high quality. the paint and knurling on i3 and i5 are really nice, providing a very good grip for a metal body.
People like the i3t because it can use AAA or be stepped up in performance with a 10440 cell (although you aren't supposed to). The i5t doesn't like being stepped up to a 14500 battery. It functions but only on high.
Damn… I fear that this ‘throttling’ seems to be real, as I have a brand new brown (military sand, or something to that effect) color i3t that I received from Amazon last week. It does not present any issues at all with the mode memory effect-in other words, always defaults to low intensity and switches/alternates to high as it’s supposed to. I have swapped out 3 different LiFePo4 3.2v 10440 batteries properly registering about 3.3-3.5v on my multimeter, and I get no perceptible increased output on either low or high mode. i tossed them into another, lesser flashlight that has only a single mode, and the intensity improvement is noticeable. it’s highly likely that the light rep was either uninformed, or misspoke. The fact that it’s on a color that I assumed would have a legacy chipset vs the pink donut model strikes me as a pretty bad sign. The LifePo4 cells were harder to get man hands on, and are actually safer for the health of the flashlight all around vs Li-Ion 3.7v, so that’s unfortunate for me.
I changed out the battery to a 10440 and compared it to a RovyVon A8. It was just as bright and gotta say it is the perfect flashlight for every day pocket carry.
@@strikenrykenI’m wondering about this as well. I just ordered an i3t eos yesterday. I guess I’ll have to look up where to find one of these 10440 batteries.
It is so funny. Thanks for sharing! We also have edc flashlights. After watching your video, it is very simple and clear to know the difference and function of these edc flashlights.😃
Thanks for the update, But your video merely confirms that the models with mode-memory DO have their output capped! The main problem is: Almost ALL of the new Donut lights seem to have this "feature"!
@@andrewcardillo4376For most of our use it's either a low or high & it's quicker to go to high without a middle output, I have an Acebeam Pokelit AA it has middle output but it's disturbing sometimes... that made me realize the i3T is better for most of my situations over the 3 light level output of the Pokelit AA.
No memory is better cuz you always know the i3T starts at low mode & don't need to remember anything.. u will never accidentally be in high mode with the i3T. My other Flashlight with 3 modes always blinds me (1000 lumens) during bedtime cuz I keep forgetting what mode I used last.. it never happens on my i3T.
SO IT'S NOT CHANGED (PHEW) IT'S JUST THAT THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT!!!!! THE OLIGHT MYSTERY I3T BUNDLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol. My Carbon Fibre i3t is not as bright and slightly warmer tone and smaller less defined hotspot than my original Dessert Tan i3t. It also isn't as bright when I use the 10440 such that the low mode stays low as if regulated and the high mode is boosted but not as much as with the older desert tan model so basically my CF version is crap with a standard nimh but pretty nice with the 10440 though not as boosted and a warmer tone. I prefer to use the old desert tan version with an nimh and the new weird CF version with the 10440. I also notice it says that lithium batteries are suitable for use with the CF version but it doesn't say if that means 10440's. I think my CF version is probably faulty but it doesn't have mode memory. So what is going on with these. How do you know what the heck you are going to get if you buy one????
Just for reference, with a 330mAh 10440 battery I got 37mins on high and 5hrs on low (when submerged in cold water because I was worried about the LED burning out) 👍
Did you get the autism i5T? When changing from low to high it ramps up rather than an instant switch like all the others; I was wondering if anyone else's was the same?
Nice, they ran out of the Donut colorway by the time I decided to order one. Black is classic though :) Thanks for the tip about 10440s I'm going to order those and a charger for it too.
But ...when used with a standard AAA alkaline battery I think the i3t is the worst flashlight I have ever used in the 1-AAA category. Run times and power management are horrific. When the battery gets to the 1.4 dc volt range you start to notice a very slight step down in brightness right after turning the light on high. And not long after that the stupid things start to flicker in high mode. They can't even manage the power properly in order to let the light just get progressively dimmer in the high mode (but still be usable at a much lower lumen level then 180 lumens). I would much rather have an i3e my pocket. Granted, I have never used the i3t with one of the 10440 batteries. And I'm assuming the performance must be way better, and that's why everybody loves them so much. But when used with regular alkaline batteries (I'm going out on a limb here) and I will say it's one of the worst flashlights on the market. My least favorite olight product. But I absolutely love that i3t plus. That's a great work like. With much better power management.
It’s so funny, olight could sell thousand’s of the pink sprinkles but they only sell them to the high end olight members club, they sell out day 1 of the early access accounts so us normal people never get to buy them😢
Just ordered mine on amazon right now because of this video haha. I currently own a 3 pro max and helps so much when I stack and wrap pallets inside a dark trailer. Getting a new backup for my backup.
I don't get early access but still managed to get one, I'm not sure how, especially since I wasn't able to get on their website until four hours after the sale started and then had trouble submitting my order. The previous pink light they did, they seemingly sold out before the sale even started. I was SO annoyed.
The i3T is a good light but it's an example of how lazy Olight is when they can't cram their proprietary magnetic charging into something. They could easily produce a better light with better features (like a three mode with a useful medium in the 50-80 lumen range) that would be compatible with a 3.7V 10440 without voiding the warranty but they don't bother. Further evidence of laziness in this area the i5R... Could be so much more (and can't even compete with an i3T using a 10440) as it does not run on 3.7V. Olight's Baton series is and has been far and away a better light in it's category than the i3T.
Nah, comparing a $60 light to a $20 light seems silly. And one uses off the shelf batteries.. could they improve it? Sure...but they could also mess it up too.
@@maxlvledc I'm not comparing a Baton at $60 to a $20 i3T directly. Do that and add in an optional 10440 with USD-C and they have a winner, especially with three modes. Call it a i3R or i3Pro or some such for $30 and I'd buy it. Different strokes for different folks but a two mode AAA that I have to void my warranty to run a 10440 in isn't worth $20. A ReyLight Pineapple AAA isn't perfect but at ~$40 with the new 519A Nichia in at putting out 500 lumens it's way more compelling than a stale old i3T.
