    Got a few I5T's and love them. To me they are the best daily carry light. You dont need a big 1000m thrower or a giant 14000 lumen for a daily. Just a small little light to get you out of a pinch.

    The only thing I like about this light is the fact that unlike the seeker 2 And everything else pro You can use more than just the proprietary battery i wish they would make a light you can actually tell the difference in lumen brightness like with the seeker 3 it should of been 6000 lumens or 5500 lumens because your eye really can't perceive a 1000 lumen difference at least I can't notice a difference between 3200 between 4200 maybe a little more spill

    IMPORTANTE!!!!! I have an i5r 90CRi and an i5T Plus in neutral white and they both have similar colour tone beams with the Plus being brighter and a bit more vibrant and since the Plus takes two AA which equal 2.4 volts if using nimh then I don't see why Olight cannot use the head of the Plus light on the shorter i5r light with the single 2.4v battery which would give that shorter i5r light 550 lumens instead of the current 350 output and that more vibrant light that I observe. It's an absolute no-brainer so what the heck are they waiting for. Some-one really should ask them why they are not doing this. I mean if the Plus is safe then an i5r 550 lumens will be safe also as far as heat goes. The Plus does heat more but they can just step it down sooner.

  • @gercabz
    @gercabz 2 года назад +3

    Hello again Prepared Guy. I'm still testing, measuring, weighing my Olight i5R I know it's a bit paranoid already;) but I'm already like that I like to inquire about things that 99% of people wouldn't pay attention to. Again, I found something that intrigued me namely the lens/glass in my copy is minimally crookedly glued in or rather the body of the flashlight is not very accurately turned out. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the lens is screwed into the flashlight head and this would be the explanation. You'll see it by looking at a 45-degree angle and rotating the flashlight around its axis if, of course, this is also the case with you. Certainly some magnification will help. Greetings from Poland.

  • @ritterbruder212
    @ritterbruder212 2 года назад +9

    Olight is way behind the curve on this one. Cmon, a proprietary 2.4V 14500 battery for 350 lumens? Standard 14500 are 3.7V, and competitors’ lights powered by them can put out 1000 lumens. This is just another marketing ploy by Olight to get their fanboys to drool, not knowing what else is available on the market.

    • @PreparedGuy

      Couldn't have said it better myself.

    • @donaldstrader7241
      @donaldstrader7241 2 года назад +2

      I can think of three legitimate possibilities for the customized battery, they wanted to retain AA compatibility, keep lower maximum temperatures, and keep long runtimes on high, when there are only two levels, before stepdown. That said, are most 14500 flashlights also AA compatible? I have not researched this, I know I have seen some 10440 and for that matter 14500 that will not run the equivalent in AAA or AA. My biggest gripe, why is the very expensive titanium damascus an i5T when the i5R was in the works?

    • @PreparedGuy
      @PreparedGuy  2 года назад

      Exactly, why release a $200 i5t when the i5r was literally a few weeks away. Either they're geniuses or jerks. I haven't decided yet. The 14500 is typically used in a lot of AA compatible flashlights. The 14500 usually gives a flashlight higher output and when swapped down to a AA it becomes a lower output. But the standard is usually a minimum of 500 lumens for any 14500 flashlight. The fact that this is just 350 is kinda weird, of course it could be just to keep the heat and runtime at a optimal performance level like you said. Still I think if we can just swap out to a AA that we could get the best of both worlds like all the other flashlight companies have done. I reviewed a sofirn 14500 flashlight that was also compatible with AAs and it was 500 lumens I believe. So it's an over all weird item to release the way they did. It's like they're not even paying attention to the marker or to other flashlight companies at this point 🤣

    • @ritterbruder212
      @ritterbruder212 2 года назад +1

      @@donaldstrader7241 Yes all 14500 flash also work with AA. However, your output will be significantly decreased. You might only get 200 lumens out of AA batteries. With a dedicated AA flashlight, you can get 300-350 lumens out of an AA, but using a 14500 battery in that would fry the LED. It’s a trade off, and Olight chose the latter. The i5R is still a gimmick because you can use 1.5V NiMH batteries in an i5T and still have the same results.

    • @ritterbruder212
      @ritterbruder212 2 года назад +4

      @@PreparedGuy They are jerks like that. That is how Olight gets their fanboys to spend spend spend. They will announce the new products for an upcoming flash sale, then midway through the flash sale, you know, after all their fanboys have bought up what they wanted, they will “surprise announce” another product. That always causes the fanboys to wet their pants, but they fail to see the predatory nature of that marketing tactic. Just go visit their Facebook group: it’s an absolute shitshow cringe fest.
