    Im surprised you have not got an opinel on the list ,the law has slightly changed in uk now they class the blade length to be tip to toe of blade and not the length of the cutting blade ,stupid law but it would technically render a large majority of the svvord style knives illegal now ,which to me is crazy ,i would love to hear your views on the recent updates.thanks btw I know how much effort it takes to make these videos so appreciate it emensly .God bless ..lee

    While I'm not a lawyer and this comment cannot be viewed as legal opinion or advice, the statement at about 3:35 "you still need a reason to carry any knife at all in the UK" is incorrect. The law says that a folding knife (that has been interpreted by the courts to exclude any locking folding knife) with a cutting edge (not total blade length) of less than 3" or 76.2mm needs no reason.

      I know. As a self employed engineer I carry a leatherman surge every day for work but it is a pain in the backside at times. Keeping up with the rules and regs can be hard work when you actually see knives as useful tools and are not just after using them as weapons.

    Sorry to be so late to the game, but I only just saw this. Interesting to hear your views on the UKPK. It doesn’t appeal to me either! So much so that I haven’t got one anymore. I do have an Urban, but I don’t like it either. The slippies are not a patch on the little lock-backs, which I love (Ladybug, Dragonfly). I loved the cowboys on the Rough Rider! I’ve never had a Böker Worldwide as my hands are too weak. The Leong Mah #5 is an horrendous knife, but I had 2 Blue ones that people were very happy to take off my hands. I fell out with Heinnie Haynes over the Pilar, so never got one. I love that Proper! It’s the same one I have. I’ve had others, but this is the original and best! I had it in my pocket till just yesterday. My Buck Canoe was pretty awful. I did a comparison with a Rough Rider and a Case. It’s one of my most watched videos, but my conclusion was, Case best, but expensive, RR almost as good, but really inexpensive; the Buck, horrible! I like the Wasabi. I have the cf version. I tried to buy a Kensai custom recently, but it had already been sold. The Whitby is, I believe the same knife, from the same factory as the James Brand, but I’ll bet they neither have authority to sell or pay for the royalty! I gave mine, plus my Mint to Tobias (knife chats with Tobias) but forgot to review it first!

    The problem with this thing is mostly the fact that it has a hollow grind. I dunno what they were thinking with that, they had a perfectly amazing bargain in their hands if they just put a flat grind or a convex it'd be perfect! Same thing happened to the Jessica X project knife from Schrade and designed by Chris Tanner. He made it in a flat grind I think, they made it hollow maybe to save on costs or something, and it kinda ruined the knife.

    You must have either received the lemon of the year, or they've made changes to the product. I received mine about a week ago. The pen writes beautifully on all sorts of different paper/card stock. The only thing it wouldn't write on was some really glossy cardboard packaging. As for the top button, mine has a VERY positive click to it that takes a bit of pressure to activate. You'd be hard pressed (no pun intended) to have it switch on by accident.

    You don't need a good reason under 3 inches that's worded in the legislation. It's only when you want to carry something locking and/or over 3 inches of cutting edge you need a good reason. If an officer asks me why I'm carrying my sub 3 inch friction folder, I answer because the law states very clearly that I can and that's reason enough.

    • @AaronW-ww4ds
      @AaronW-ww4ds 3 года назад

      Just because its in the law doesn't mean you do not need a reason why since police can still arrest you and book you for carrying it as far as they're concerned you never will have a good excuse to be carrying any weapon legal or not so then once they boom you for it youll have to go to court and the judge will decide whether you can or can't but 99% of the time they won't even bother to ask unless you're going into government buildings , concert halls , football stadiums or other places that will search you before you go in or if you have it on show since its only legal when it is concealed once it becomes on show you've then broken the law

    • @JohnSmith-rw9dl
      @JohnSmith-rw9dl 2 года назад

      No, what’s stated above in your comment is regarding being charged for an “offensive weapon “ as they say the only reason you need a locking/fixed blade is to be able to stab. What happens is, even though it states you don’t need a reason, each time I’ve stated this when stopped by police, they instead arrested me for a “pointed or bladed article” which means the same thing except the intent isn’t there. The law also states you can use “reasonable force” to defend yourself in your home, yet how many times have armed burglars been stabbed and died and the home owner ended up on trial? I take it from your comment that you come from a rural area or have had very little interaction with the police or their dodgy tactics. Like saying you kept it on you for self defence, which only a moron would say, but as most of the ones who stopped me were thick as pig sh1t, when they come up against someone who knows the law they simply lie. It isn’t about what’s legal most of the time, it’s an ego trip

      When a police officer asks you if you are aware that you are carrying an illegal knife that is within the law to carry , it is what you say back that counts ,you simply say no I did not ,then the officer may say you know this could be used to commit an offence you still say no ,sometimes thèy try to bait you into admittion ,they must then prove intent ,he may confiscate it but you ask for a receipt and crime number ,which your entitled to request, record for evidence, and ask the officer if he is recording, if he says yes it was without telling you .but comply and legally, you can retrieve your knife .,or simple thing is do not take one to town in court or private area and you'll be fine

    There is some terrible advice in this video. You do not need a reason for carrying a legal carry. Knives like the Lansky and broker world legal are 100% legal. The definitions on locking are very clear and police cannot question it.

      Any UK law is ridiculous you can't even carry any self defence weapon or even use self defence if something does happen say if someone threw the first punch and you hit back trying to prove you hit them back in self defence is difficult to prove unless it happened where you were in front of CCTV as even if it happened I front of witnesses they won't bother stepping up to confirm it was self defence and as long as its foldable, non locking and under 3 inches question's won't be asked unless you're going into a government building , concert hall , football stadium or any place that requires you to be searched for weapons

      I disagree entirely. I’m an engineer. I genuinely see knives as tools. I’m 6 foot 5 and I don’t feel that even in a very very worst case scenario unless someone pulled a knife on me that I would even consider that I have a weapon in my pocket. They are always first and foremost tools. I’m fortunate to live in an area with little crime relatively so it’s not a something I think about. I have always just been drawn to knives as useful tools and that would be my response to a police officer. That I’m forever fixing things as an engineer and the knives I carry get used for functional tasks. From opening packaging to cutting loose thread on clothing and everything functional related like that.

    • @AaronW-ww4ds
      @AaronW-ww4ds 3 года назад

      As long as its non locking , under 3 inches and foldable shouldn't get stopped unless you're going into places that require you and your bag to be searched and using self defence as a reason is not a valid reason to be carrying on since there's laws against self defence which any self defence weapon is illegal its even illegal to use self defence and if is rare that they'll believe anything was in self defence since self defence is extremely hard to prove unless you are around CCTV as even if there is witnesses the likelihood of them coming forward to confirm it was self defence is very unlikely since people do not bother to get involved in things that don't concern or involve them I always have a gerber gdc zip on my keys never been stopped even have one that's like a credit card in my wallet in college when I did catering had my chef knives always on me and on public transport nothing was ever said but that could be because they were always concealed in a canvas roll up bag
