I ordered this one because I love the original, so I can’t speak about intense, but I can say about Encre noire original, it is NOT everyone’s cup of tea. If you are a fan of good smelling mass appealing scents there are plenty in the market and avoid this one. If you want to smell unique, natural and intriguing to a select few, and you want a scent with good longevity, try it out. It’s not loud, so you won’t choke everyone that might not like it, it’s an intimate bubble for the most part for those that matter to you. It’s dark, woodsy, earthy, mysterious, and vetiver based scent. Personally I love it, especially when I’m in the mood. Also heads up, it’s manly, I’m not saying a woman can’t wear this, but she has to be a particular woman.
My go to for years has been Lalique Lion Pour Homme. That is superb. So figured I would try this too. I think its superb, certainly projects well, and i think it has more than decent silage tbh. I still prefer Lion but Encre Noir A L'Extreme is right up there for a quality manly fragrance. Superb value for money too given what your actually getting!
Evrry single fragrance in the Encre Noire line is absolutely phenomenal quality! They are not for everyone: dark, smokey, earthy, very manly. I would describe them all as walking through a dense forest at dusk with smoke wafting in over the horizon, they fork off in different directions: while the original stays there, the Ala Extreme is denser and woodier with a slight underlying sweetness, the sport adds some citrus notes and light sea notes and I find it to be the least challenging of the three. I believe all three can work in warmer months as well, they never become cloying, but I do think the OG and Extreme make more sense in the cooler months.
I use all three of them as a varying signature scent depending on the season/weather, while rotating all of my other niche and expensive designer fragrances around them. The quality is unbeatable for the price. It probably won’t appeal to most people new to the fragrance game, or the blue fragrance lovers. It’s a masterpiece to me but I wear fragrances like Mancera Red Tobacco and Zaharoff Leather Tabac.
Its actually not a winter scent for me its too cold and dark for winter. I like this for both hiking/camping kinda situation, and night time walks in fall or spring. Or if im watching a Bela Lugosi movie XD (this scent makes me think of him)

It's very heavy comparing to the original one and indeed it smells like inc in Bic pens. I get a bit of headache when I wear this. It smells really luxury though.
'AC' from 'smellsgood' loves this fragrance... i do too , i own it.. He explains in a video that he was quite disappointed with it for the same reason, he then put it away in his cabinet alongside all his collection... then maybe half a year later he thought to give it a go and the performance was very good ... ive also experienced this with this juice imparticular
Perhaps thats the trick then. I've stowed them in the closet already, I'll let the two of them sit for a year and then see how they perform and smell. Currently, they stink...and dont perform worth a damn.

The cypress in the original made me ill after 4 hours. The vetiver and other notes all disappear on my skin and I'm left with pine-sol smelling cypress in unbearable amounts! I bought this "a L'Extreme" version and its no better. Tried layering them with other fragrances...no joy. Finally packed the two of them up and stowed them in the closet. They're unbearable.
Honest reviewing! I agree with pretty much everything you said except I think its more unisex. I wish the other reviewers put more emphasis on who this suits. its for 30+ year olds at minimum who are more mature classy personality. As a younger guy I do not enjoy it. not only because it doesn't suit me, its not my scent preference. smells like plain intensified dark jungle wood with some other notes that I'm not familiar with. the ingredients don't smell that expensive quality to me but the bottle sure looks expensive. also my climate is pretty hot right now so its a thing to note.
I need something that projects & last like Bogart SS Intense, but that doesn't smell like a women's grapes? Now you're saying this doesn't last or project like the other reviewers say.

i want this thing but the closest thing i can compare it to is ombre leather by tom ford shich i really liked when i smelt it its very wearable acctualy so is it more mature or more youthful that ombre leather? thanks
This is a lot more mature than Ombre Leather. I feel OL is a lot easier to wear and has a nice touch of sweetness that also makes it more likeable overall. Encre Noir is somewhat of an acquired taste and although a lot of people like it, OL is a safer bet and if I had to pick between the two I would pick OL

I bought it 3 days ago and there's something strange that I have been experiencing, these past 3 days. First day, it was smelling nothing but very woody, second day it was having very rosy smell and now it's smelling very lipsticky. Am I the only one to experience this?
I’m still mainly just getting strong inky wood and the same wearing experience every time I use it however I do actually get what you mean especially with the rose.
I bought this and the sports. So extreme death smell, I was scared to wear it, until I layered this and the sport together. At least I saved both bottles from collecting dust.
You could… but I probably wouldn’t recommend it. It’s unlikely to get garner any positive responses and I would say it isn’t playful or fun enough. It’s very mature smelling and I would suggest something a bit younger feeling with some sweetness. If you don’t already own it then I wouldn’t purchase it for that purpose. Hope this helps 👍

I’m finding It quite difficult to wear due to weather/ not the right occasion etc so may have to do similar! Or just layer with something easy 👍
