    Sounds great! Absolutely loving my SSL6! It keeps surprising me how versatile the unit is. I bought it instead of picking up a single SSL VHD Pre, dynamics unit and an EQ p please us 500series case which came up much more expensive. My use is voice over and vocal tracking. I'm going into Protools via my ApolloTwin and about to swap it out for a Prism Lyra and this made me glad that this mixer was not muddied with an onboard usb as having the flexibility to use what I like means it will be much more future compatible and less OS and DAW sensitive.

    I took a chance paying this much for a small format mixer...........AND! everything about it exudes quality. I’ve never regretted the purchase for 1 minute, and if stolen would instantly replace it. Functionally, it’s every bit as good......NO Better! then any of these youtube reviews show. (my 2 cents.)

    This thing sounds GOOD! Not sure if it's the board or the Apollos. But this combo sounds great nonetheless.

      I reckon it's the guitar, the singer, mics, Apollo and the board. Sounds really good.

    to show how you routed the aux in and out of the apollo would be a god send, were you monitoring everything on phones n using main outputs to go into the ssl stereo input, such a lack of routing examples online to ease the novice apollo users about mono/stereo difference, for example someone bringing a mono vox track out of daw and out apollo n back in again through a gtr pedal(say a timeline for some delay) n back into a hi z input on apollo, im confused about the mono stereo part of that chain. into pedal stereo n out mono, can you use a mono pedal n is that ok to come out of left channel on apollos main stereo out(so out 1 of apollo into mono gtr pedal, but do i pan it left back at the daw to start with?? if anyone ever reads this n sees what im saying please make a vid ill pay

    I need some advice on this, Do you recommend buying those extra SSl strips (SSL SiX CH Channel Strip 500 Series Module)? or this mixer does the job?

    Sounds really good! Nice music as well. I'm looking at these to add some inputs to a Henriksen bud and also serve as a live preamp for a neumann kms 105. Trying to get the best sound I can like the studio that I can take live. Figure I will put strymon delay, reverb, and tape emulation in the loop. I don't know what else I'd be missing there.
    Having said that I'm also really interested in seeing how to use it as an outboard gear in the studio both for functionality but kind of like summing where you're adding an analog piece. They compared the SiX to a SSL bus compressor unit, and they both sounded nice but I preferred the SiX. The other one sounded too dated to the 70s or 80s and the SiX seemed more universal and clear and less cliche.
    I was worried that if I set it up outboard that my processing of other consoles via Slate would be strange through another console if it's too much color

    Could you have the talent monitor from the mixer to avoid any latency? Why did you choose to monitor from the apollo?

  • @regard321

    Does the alt input accessible via db25 flow through the main mono channels? I'd like to be able to route signal out from my interface and through the mono channels for processing without having to keep plugging/unplugging from the normal inputs on top whenever I want to plug in a guitar or mic.

    G-Series bus compressor?

    • @Ultimate_Wasabi
      @Ultimate_Wasabi 3 года назад +1

      It has a limited version of the G-Series bus compressor with set attack/release times. SSL basically set it at the most common setting for a mixbus. I have the Six and the bus compressor is useful. However, I wish there was a switch to move it before the insert on the main bus (but I'm sure that would increase the price).

      The SiX is running through an Apollo interface, so we're using the on-board converters.

      @@vintagekingproaudio Wow, that's about 1/3 the price of an XLogic Bus comp. What's the deal with the built-in bus comp on the Six? Speaking purely of the bus comp, is it really sonically comparable to the $4500 rack unit or even a vintage piece? Might be quite a killer value for somebody in the market for a bus comp with some summing capability.
