i just really love the way the 2nd half of CHK CHK BOOM is arranged - when they said tribute to 90s boy bands, they MEANT it. The way they created an arrangement with the synth and keyboard sounds, mechanical sound effects, and signature beat patterns that was typical of 90s-00s boy band hits so that it blended smoothly into the BYE BYE BYE dance break was just SO genius. I love that this performance wasnt just about one of the world's biggest kpop groups performing a Western hit, it was also about them showcasing their own music, style and production while also honoring the influence that mainstream boybands like NSYNC had on the evolution of kpop as a whole.
Love your analysis 👍 Chan grew up listening to power pop songs. He understands the structure of these songs like blood flowing in his veins. I bet Versa Choi has a hand in this mashup as well. This mashup is a banger that builds momentum.

Included with their 2023 performance of S Class at the VMAs( with a tribute for hip hop turning 50 years old), you can clearly tell that they know ho to make their music/ performances unique for different perfromances and with respect

I'm not even a stay but the live vocals were insane. And as an older kpop fan I gotta love the intergenerational remix/mash up whatever we wanna call it lol
The tempo on Chk Chk Boom was slower which resulted in every single note being held a tad longer. In order to accommodate for this, they all had to change the way they sang their parts. This resulted in everyone sounding slightly different and for Chan in meant using his chest voice a little more.
As a 90’s kid i can tell how much i am proud of SKZ for performing this song. They pull this off so well. All of them were incredible and almost felt like they own bye bye bye song. Big thanks to Chris for putting this 2 mashup tgt

I am so freaking happy for them. They are getting the recognition that they deserve and they have worked so hard to get there. Literally sweat and tears. Knew when I first saw them that they were going to have a massive impact on the music industry. If anyone wonders “why them at AMA etc”? Research them. They write all their own music, even though they could already sing, dance, rap, use their imaginations to an insane level and so much more. They still trained, sorry train! They want their fans happy. They’re humble. Went through some personal struggles (remember they’re young) yet you wouldn’t have thought it. My daughter who is around their age introduced me to them over 2 years ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. Also the energy and the bond between them is euphoric ❤

The tempo on Chk Chk Boom was slower which resulted in every single note being held a tad longer. In order to accommodate for this, they all had to change the way they sang their parts. This resulted in everyone sounding slightly different and for Chan in meant using his chest voice a little more.

I am so freaking happy for them. They are getting the recognition that they deserve and they have worked so hard to get there. Literally sweat and tears. Knew when I first saw them that they were going to have a massive impact on the music industry. If anyone wonders “why them at AMA etc”? Research them. They write all their own music, even though they could already sing, dance, rap, use their imaginations to an insane level and so much more. They still trained, sorry train! They want their fans happy. They’re humble. Went through some personal struggles (remember they’re young) yet you wouldn’t have thought it. My daughter who is around their age introduced me to them over 2 years ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. Also the energy and the bond between them is euphoric ❤
