  • Hey guys! So finally after so many years of looking at the high end espresso machines, I decided to pull the trigger and get one. The decision between Bianca and Profitec was not an easy one but after seeing them live, it was a no-brainer for me :D
    Initially wanted to get the Pro 700 but then realised there is Profitec Drive coming out and decided to grab it :D
    Thanks to the Taste It Vienna, I managed to reserve one and pick it up this weekend! Still learning all about it and there is a lot more I need to figure out, but so far, AWESOME machine! :)
    I hope you enjoy it, I know it is a bit of a longer one this time... :D

    Great video, your excitement was contagious. Having already read the manual paid off as you knew the controls.
    When you were making your demonstration espresso shot I'd have liked to have seen the pressure reading for the group head, as that is a feature that distinguishes this model from most others and the original 700.
    I'm doing my research for my first espresso machine and this one tops my shortlist currently. As I've gone along, looking at videos and reviews of machines, the more and more I'm homing in on ECM or Profitec, basically for quality & reliability. I'll be super interested in your future videos with the Profitec 700.

    Thanks for all your responses. Pressure and flow profiling are the features that everyone seems to want nowadays but how important are they truly. Is it possible to get really good results without them or are profiling machines always going. to allow better results than machines that lack them - all else being equal?

    • @techtravelpanda
      @techtravelpanda  7 месяцев назад +3

      I understand your point. This is something I am currently testing. So far, I managed to get a good result without using the flow profiling. Now, I will apply variations using the flow paddle since I have the "setup for regular extraction". This will allow me to test the influence on the flavor. Will make soon a video about the settings for the machine and then the one experimenting with the flow control.

      @@techtravelpanda I'v tried it without the declumper, but find, that WITH it installed, it actually cause less particles come everywere from the grinder spout)) So i put it back. It's my first grinder, so I can't compare it to anything, but it works pretty well wit my Sanremo Cube R, plus it grinds so fast! Very nice grinder, especially for the money! :)

      @techtravelpanda  7 месяцев назад

      Yes! I like it too! :)
      The particles flying around the grinder can be stopped by wetting the beans a bit with a small spray, or just wet your finger and mix the beans a bit and then shake the dosing cup. It will reduce the static by a lot and help you get nice fluffy beans :) This was the same for me when I took the declumper out. Once I started spraying the beans, problem gone :D

    I find the machine super interesting. Can you say whether there is an offset/difference between the temperature displayed on the PID control and the effective brewing temperature? In other words, can it be the case that I get 94 degrees Celsius displayed on the PID ex works, for example, but actually only brew at 91 degrees Celsius, for example?

    Thank you for sharing your detailed review. Is the build quality improved in this version 2? Other reviews say Pro 700 has some sharp edges and warping?

    • @techtravelpanda
      @techtravelpanda  7 месяцев назад +2

      The shell is nicely built and I, personally, do not see warping. The machine feels like a tank. Sharp edges you can find on the tray meshes from the underside. But they are not something big or worrisome. And also, those "sharp" edges are very mild.

    Thank you for the video sir! How do you like the steam pressure? Is it still at 2 bar of steam pressure as older Pro 700 and Synchronika? I didn't play that much with the steam pressure since I am really into espresso shots only. But I will give it a few runs and make a video on that too. From what I tested so far, steams like crazy. Nice dry and powerful steam. It comes with a two hole steam tip by default.

    Beautiful machine. What did she cost? By the way, best practice is to give the brew head a quick purge before you pull your shot. This gets rid of the water that’s been sat in the brew head while the machine has been in idle. Meaning better brew temp control. Great video. 😊

    Received this machine last Thursday. I noticed it heats up extracting fast, wanted to confirm if you experience same? It reaches 93 c in something like 8 minutes, maybe less, with fast heat up turned off and no need to flush, but also steam boiler is off. Is that correct or is the reading not right?

    • @techtravelpanda
      @techtravelpanda  3 месяца назад

      It might come up to the temp of the internal boiler fast but your group head is not gona be at that temp. That is why fast heat up pushes interna boiler to 143 celzius and when you flush it heats up the group head so everything is at proper temperature. :)

    Congrats! It’s so little info on this espresso machine, so thank you for sharing! Are you planning to make a video showing the features of the new PID system? Maybe highlighting the differences between the old 700 and the Drive? And just curious, did you get to see the new Synchronika with the same PID?

    • @techtravelpanda
      @techtravelpanda  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hey hey! Thank you! Yes, I was also pretty much confused why nobody talks about it and there is almost no info on it. Especially since it's a clear successor to the Pro700 family. Regarding the PID vid, I will make it very soon. I will go through the whole menu and show you all of the options 😊
      Regarding Synchronika, I wasn't able to see the newest one but I will be in Heidelberg by the end of this week and maybe I see one there since they are manufactured very close to Heidelberg. 😊😊😊
      If I spot one, I'll try to film at least a bit of it. 😊
      EDit: under one of the comment replies on my Short video showing the early morning espresso shot pulling, there is a mention of the ECM guys saying that the new Synchronika with the updatem PID is due for March 2024.

    About the flow control... This video by The Wired Gourmet may be of interest to you.
    He bought a Profitec 600 (like the 700 but with a vibratory pump and steam boiler of 1L instead of 2L). Later he installed the flow control kit supplied by Profitec. In this video he explains why he removed it. He did keep the pressure gauge for the group head.
    www.youtube .com/watch?v=B6cZ8LUraOI
    From this video (and others) I don't think the flow control function has any real benefit and may just prove frustrating. It doesn't matter that it's there, of course, and you have the grouphead pressure gauge. I'll be interested to see if you end up using the flow control or just ignoring it later on...
